Abandoned to her death, 74-year-old grandmother Ketevan dies… And the local clinic couldn’t even find a doctor for the lonely and paralyzed elderly woman. Shame! Shame!
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
When I, a journalist for the Chernovetskyi Fund, went to see 74-year-old Ketevan Javakhishvili, I knew in advance that grandmother was in serious condition, but the reality that greeted me in that room was worse than any horror. “Hello, Grandma Ketevan, Merry Christmas.” But all I heard in response was silence.
I thought the poor old woman must have fallen asleep. I wish it were true. A neighbor told me that Grandma Ketevan had completely lost her ability to speak and her memory. I’ll tell you even worse – the poor old woman has completely lost her sight in both eyes. Friends, may God protect you all, but just for a moment, imagine your life without speech, without memory, and, worst of all, without sight. Just for a moment, imagine yourself bedridden, with only darkness before you, unable to even utter the word “help.” No! No! Even the thought of it is enough to drive a person crazy. And 74-year-old Grandma Ketevan has been living in this hell for three years.
Friends, it’s only natural that you’re probably wondering where her children, husband, and relatives are. Unfortunately, Ketevan has no children. This woman never started a family. And none of her close relatives are still alive today.
This is how beautiful, cheerful, and smiling Ketevan was in her youth. She was born into an intelligent family. Writers, poets, musicians, and public figures gathered in her home. Therefore, Ketevan was a friend of books from childhood. And as she grew older, her horizons and intellect expanded.
Then came higher education, where she excelled as a student. Even complete strangers on the street admired her beauty. People predicted a bright future for her.
And Ketevan herself was certain that her life would turn out exactly as she dreamed:
a loving family and a home filled with children’s laughter…
And in old age, she would gather her grandchildren around the stove, with hot tea, and tell them fairy tales about the love of a prince and princess.
Unfortunately, Ketevan will leave this world without fulfilling this dream, taking it with him to the grave.
No loved one, no warm family, no children, no sweet old age with grandchildren. Yes… Ketevan is like an unfortunate flower, unappreciated, unnoticed, unwatered, and then simply trampled and crushed…
And the most painful thing is that Ketevan was betrayed even by her own state.
Friends, the fact is that on June 13, 2015, a terrible tragedy in the Vera River valley turned Ketevan into a homeless old woman.
The flooded Vera River washed away her house and absolutely everything that she and her ancestors had acquired through honest labor.
My God, how many young lives did this disaster take!
And yet, official investigations have repeatedly confirmed that the casualties could have been avoided.
More than 200 families were affected by the disaster: 84 homes were completely destroyed and 158 were damaged.
Ketevan’s house was engulfed in a “sea of filth.” The state didn’t even provide the homeless woman with a small room. All they had were promises. This intelligent woman didn’t even have her own spoon and fork. Imagine how humiliating and insulting this was for her.
She carried years of silent pain and suffering in her heart, and then one day the poor woman couldn’t take it anymore…
A terrible stroke… a massive cerebral hemorrhage… intensive care unit…
When the hospital learned she had no children, no family, no loved ones, no one was particularly concerned… And then suddenly, a woman appeared in the clinic hallway and told the doctors, “Do everything necessary to save Ketevan Javakhishvili.” Dear readers, you probably thought that this was a relative or childhood friend of Ketevan. No, my friends. It was the landlady of the apartment where Ketevan had lived before her stroke.
When Ketevan was discharged from the hospital, the poor woman had nowhere to stay overnight. Moreover, she was practically paralyzed. So, the landlady took her into her home and provided her with a room free of charge. Natela Gumeridze is a hero of our time. This pious woman performs selfless acts of kindness without wanting to advertise it, and that’s precisely why she didn’t want to be captured on camera.
And this is Mrs. Matsatso, who bathes Grandma Ketevan, feeds her and changes her diapers.
When I, a journalist for the Chernovetsky Fund, spoke with Matsatso, I felt that the modest woman wanted to say something, but was holding back.
Finally, with tears in her eyes and a trembling voice, she whispered: “Did this intelligent and pious woman really deserve such treatment from her own state? To be left without help like this… It’s simple, even the doctor from the local clinic doesn’t come.”
“We’ve called so many times, asked them to come over, but… they probably aren’t interested in the life of a lonely, sick old woman.
They probably don’t even remember the Hippocratic Oath.”
Pious people, we at the Fund believe you will find at least a small place in your hearts for this poor old woman.
None of us knows what life has in store for us.
It takes exactly one moment for a person to lose health. Yes… unfortunately, it also takes only one moment to die. But in return, God has given us, humans, countless days to do good.
Someday, “we too will grow old…”
Someday we too will leave this world…
