“Auntie,” little Mariam asked me as she looked out the window at the men passing by, “where is my daddy? Which one of them loves me and will pick me up in his arms? Every child should have a father…” – the beautiful eyes of the little Georgian girl filled with tears.

When I came to the Romanadze family’s house as a journalist from the Chernovetskyi Fund, it was pouring with rain and a cold wind was blowing. Near the house I noticed two little girls shivering from the cold. They were wearing spring slippers and summer dresses. I could hardly believe my eyes.
It turned out the children had overheard their mother’s phone conversation and learned that an “unknown aunt” was supposed to come to their home. These little angels decided to wait for the “unknown aunt” outside. As always, whenever someone new came to the house, they thought that person would finally bring them the father they had never seen. Hearing this story, I felt my blood run cold.
Magda (5-year-old): “Auntie, we waited for you outside because we didn’t want Mom to hear what we were going to say.”
Fund journalist: “I promise you, my little ones, I won’t tell your mom.” After these words, it seemed as if stars lit up in the children’s sad eyes.
At that moment I thought they would ask me for warm jackets, boots, or maybe toys and sweets. But the phrase I heard from these little angels was not just a phrase. It was like a dagger to the heart.
“Auntie, we know from Mom that you’re going to write about us in a book, that we’re princesses. Auntie, please write in that book that we’re looking for our dad, and include our home address, please. Dad went to work in a big city and can’t find the way home. So if he reads this book, he’ll remember the address and come back home. Will you help us find our dad, Auntie?”
That question made me wish another journalist from the Fund had come to this family, because the pain of these little angels reminded me of the pain of my own childhood…
This is the Romanadze family. A family where poverty, illness, and spiritual pain “compete” with each other to see which will take the deepest root.

In this dilapidated shack there is only one small room where a 37-year-old single mother lives with her two young children – if this can even be called living. Water leaks from the roof, the walls are rotting, and an old carpet lies on the bare floor.
Mariam (3-year-old): “Auntie, I can’t write, so I asked my sister to write a letter to Santa. I didn’t ask Santa for much – just clothes like other children have in winter – but he didn’t bring them. But I’m not a bad girl. I don’t make Mom angry, and sometimes I share candy with other children when I have some.”

Thirty-seven-year-old Teona suffers from epileptic seizures. After her husband left her – essentially abandoning his pregnant wife and little Magda, who was only two years old at the time – the poor mother’s health worsened from stress.
Teona buys firewood with the money she receives as social allowance. As you well known, firewood is quite expensive, so almost nothing is left for food.

As a result, the children’s monthly diet consists only of pasta, fried potatoes, and thin soup. Fish and meat are out of the question.

Kind people, through our joint efforts we can give these little angels a normal home – no matter how small – instead of this dangerous shack. A washing machine is also very important, because in winter the sick mother washes laundry outside in icy water.
Friends, join us, and together we will return childhood to these wonderful girls abandoned by their father. Remember, with each new dawn, their hearts ignite with a spark of hope. The children believe that one day kind fairies will color their black-and-white life, just like in fairy tales.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Kobuleti, Popov’s First Str.
