In just 10 minutes, a hellish fire destroyed everything that was most precious to these people.

Furniture bought with carefully saved pension money. Walls they painted with their own hands. Photo albums and cherished belongings that held their memories.

Everything vanished. As if it had never existed…

The tragedy of the Omanashvili family began on January 13, on the Old New Year Eve.

As the family was preparing to celebrate, a short circuit occurred on the second floor – and a fire broke out.

Hearing the explosion, Nino and Soso grabbed their sick son in their arms and ran out of the house. What else could parents do at such a moment? Would anyone have acted differently?

Sergo has severe brain damage – he cannot take care of himself. His only refuge was his home, his room. Only there did he feel calm and safe. And now he is afraid. Afraid that he may never be able to return home again.

Soso and Nino are both classified as having a Group II disability. Soso has a cardiac device implanted that supports his heart. Nino has undergone hip replacement surgery on both joints.

Soso and Nino – a couple bound by deep love – are now trying to restore their home with their own hands and with the help of neighbors. The local authorities promised to help with the roof, but everything else rests on their shoulders.

This is the family’s loyal friend – Tobi, who also miraculously survived the fire. And the only surviving mattress has now become his bed.

Look at these walls. At this floor.

The couple covered the floor with a large tarpaulin so that the heavy rains would not destroy the walls that are still standing.

“That crackling… the sound of the house burning will never leave my mind. The images of black smoke cutting through the sky… With every spark it felt as if a year of my life was taken away… My memories, my life – everything disappeared in 10 minutes…” says Nino, trying to hold back her tears.

She knows they have to start their lives from scratch. And she will do it – because she turned to us for help.

The year 2026 began very hard for our country. Just in the past month alone, dozens of families who lost their homes in fires have turned to our Fund. This happens mostly in villages — and in most cases the cause is the same: old, worn-out electrical wiring.

And tell me, friends – when people are living in such extreme poverty, focused only on putting food on the table and feeding their children – who can possibly afford to replace old electrical wiring?

It is a chain reaction. And if we trace it back to the beginning, we will see the real causes:
poverty, unemployment, and a deeply rooted social nihilism.

by uniting and supporting one another, we can help very, very many people.

The Omanashvili family must not become an exception.
