Five-year-old Kato does not yet know the frightening medical words. She does not know what stage IV means, or metastases, or what it means to fight for every single day of life.

Every morning Kato runs up to Gvantsa, hugs her tightly, and asks:
– Mommy, you’ll always be with me, right?

Even though doctors are speaking about a disease that is considered one of the most severe.

She is only 40 years old. But an aggressive stage-four lung cancer is developing in her body – one of the most dangerous forms of cancer.

The disease has already spread throughout her body.
Metastases have been found in the brain, bones, and lymph nodes.

This means the cancer is no longer confined to one place.

It is attacking several vital systems of her body at once.

Diagnoses like this often sound almost like a sentence.
It is an extremely complex illness that requires constant, expensive, high-tech treatment, regular examinations, and close supervision by specialists.

But even in this situation, Gvantsa refuses to give up.

She has already gone through difficult stages of treatment: surgery, radiation therapy, courses of chemotherapy, and long periods of targeted therapy.

Sometimes it seemed the disease was retreating…
And then it would return again.

Every new examination feels like stepping onto thin ice.

Every time she waits for the results, her heart stops with fear.

But Gvantsa continues to fight.

Because beside her is her little Kato – the daughter she waited eight long years to have. And now the one thought that keeps her from breaking is this: “My daughter must not grow up without a mother.”

To continue this fight, Gvantsa urgently needs new examinations and further treatment abroad. Without them, doctors simply will not be able to control the disease. But the cost of these procedures is far beyond what the family can afford.
