Fifteen-year-old Marine cannot walk, sit, or even tell her mother, “It hurts” … Her arms and legs jerk as if they’re being twisted by iron rods, her muscles so tense that she screams and convulses, while her mother holds her in her arms, powerless to help. She urgently needs rehabilitation and therapeutic massage so that Marine can at least lie still, sleep, and breathe without pain.

Armenuhi, 50 (mother): “She cries in my arms all night long. Every cry tears my heart apart. I pray that she feels even a little better… and I cry with her. But the worst thing is that I can’t help her at all. I have no money for my daughter’s treatment…”

And yet Marine was born a completely healthy girl. The only problem was that she and her mother had incompatible Rh factors. The doctor was supposed to give the baby a life-saving injection right after birth… but he couldn’t find the vein. And he didn’t even tell the parents how serious the situation was.

Armenuhi, 50 (mother):  “I fed my daughter… and suddenly she started turning yellow right in my arms…”

That night, the parents urgently took the baby from Akhalkalaki to Tbilisi. Little Marine received a blood transfusion.

Armenuhi, 50 (mother): “The doctors said that if we had been even a little later, she might have died…”

She survived. But the devastating consequences remained for life. Marine has brain damage.

She cannot walk. She cannot sit. She cannot eat on her own.

Since childhood, her parents have carried her in their arms.

Armenuhi, 50 (mother): “She is my fourth child… People tell me to give her up to a care home…… But how can you leave your own child? I will never leave her.  Never!”

Her mother devotes every day to Marine.

She feeds her. Bathes her. Does exercises with her. And almost every night she doesn’t sleep, because she holds her daughter in her arms.

Armenuhi, 50 (mother): “She recognizes us… Sometimes she smiles… And in those moments, we are the happiest parents in the world…”

In the past, her parents were able to take Marine for rehabilitation and massages. But for the last four years, the family has had no money for it.

Now Marine urgently needs:

 – rehabilitation and therapeutic massage
 -diapers

– hygiene products

– a special adaptive wheelchair suited for her

Just imagine for a moment…how Marine’s face will light up when her muscles finally relax, when the constant pain eases,
when she can lie peacefully without crying through the night. For her, it would be a true miracle. And it’s a miracle we can make happen together.
