Alexi is a shepherd, a simple hardworking Georgian man. He worked day and night to support his family. And now he has come face to face with death.

While Alexi was herding cattle in a neighboring village, a huge bull weighing over a ton attacked him. The animal threw him off the horse, tossed him around like a rag doll, and was about to crush him with its powerful hooves.

Alexi survived. But life after that became worse than death… His lungs were torn, his ribs broken, his spine injured, and doctors had to drain blood through tubes.

Alexi, 52-year-old: “I can’t walk even a few steps… I’m suffocating… My condition worsens every day. Any strain could end with me collapsing and never getting up again.”

Alexi can no longer work or support his family. He cannot afford the medication, and without it, his life is at risk.

One inhaler costs 42 lari. For this family, it’s like 42,000… And without it, the man simply cannot breathe.

Alexi, 52-year-old: “I want to be healthy again. And I know it’s possible! But this cursed lack of money… I need medical tests… But I don’t have money to see a doctor. I haven’t had a check-up in two years, and I’m afraid of becoming disabled for life. I’m afraid that one day I won’t even be able to get up, to reach the toilet, and I’ll have to use a chamber pot. I don’t want to become a burden to my son.”

The family has no home of their own. A kind person allowed them to stay… But tomorrow they may not even have that.

The room walls are covered with fungus and mold, which are extremely dangerous for Alexi, whose lungs are damaged.
