Buried Alive – A Woman Loved by God!

“I’m dying… Help me… It hurts so much, my daughter…” 79-year-old Juliet cries out in pain, pleading with the helpless hope of a child. She knows her daughter loves her deeply – just as she once loved her when she was little. But here is the tragedy: in unbearable pain, this poor woman doesn’t understand that her family is desperately poor. She has been left to suffer – as if buried alive – by those responsible for funding her treatment. Someone, somewhere, has decided: she has lived long enough. Perhaps the same person who goes to church, crosses himself in public, and kisses icons – for others to see.

But who are we to decide who lives and who dies?

“This woman is almost my age,” – said the founder of our Fund, Leonid Chernovetskyi, after reading the story.

“Have you at least prepared a coffin for me at the Fund? Maybe you’ll just bury me alive as well.” All it takes is to take away a couple of my pills – and that’s it. Why wait?” After reading my article he added: “Here… look, my dear,” (he says to the reporter) “see what the Bible says about life — and always remember it!

You know, I am a professor and an expert on holy scriptures! Those days are long gone when, as a powerful official, I did anything ‘for the cameras.’ The Bible is the supreme human law! God, friends, is above all – love! And I pray every day not for others to see, but in private, knowing the Creator’s main rule: a human life is priceless at any age.” God — He created it! Only He has the right to take it! Not because of lack of money, but because of conscience! Apparently, when He made some people, He forgot to give them a conscience…

Every day, Julieta’s daughter watches her mother suffer – and cannot help.

Julieta is bedridden.

She has cancer. Severe anemia. Her condition is worsening.

Her fever rises to 39–40°C and won’t come down.

She barely eats – just a little matsoni and black bread.

She barely speaks. But she feels everything. She recognizes her daughter’s voice. She calms down when her daughter strokes her hair. And quietly whispers: “I’m dying… Help me… I feel so bad…”

When Julieta first became ill, a doctor referred her to a hematologist.
But there was no money. No tests were done. Without treatment, she is doomed to a slow and painful death.

Julieta worked hard her entire life – in the fields, in the vineyards.
She was strong, resilient, full of energy. She never complained. She rarely saw doctors.

Now, she cannot even move without pain.

Juna, 35, her daughter:

“I pray to the Mother of God for one thing – please don’t let cancer take my mother’s life. I have no one else in this world.”

This is little Juna. Julieta adopted her when she was only four years old.

Juna is not her biological daughter. Her father was seriously ill.
Her mother left her.
Her grandmother couldn’t support her.

At just four years old, she was taken in by Julieta.

Julieta had no children of her own –
 but she had a big heart.

She raised Juna as her own daughter.
She gave her life. Now her daughter does not let her die in loneliness…

But Juna is gravely ill too.

Juna, 35  (her daughter): “I will not leave her. Even if it is very hard.

But it is hard already. She has spinal damage and severe hip disease. She can barely walk.
She has two young children in her arms. She is divorced. Her ex-husband does not help.

And still – she cares for her mother alone: turning her in bed, feeding her with a spoon, holding her hand for hours.

Friends – Juna has a brother. They were separated as children and raised in different families. She dreams of finding him.

Right now, a person is dying in agony – simply because there is no money for treatment.

Julieta has:

• diabetes – but no glucometer

• no medication

• no adult diapers

To take her to the hospital, a specialized ambulance is needed – and you need to pay for it. The family survives on a small pension and social allowance.

They have no home of their own. Their old village house has collapsed.

Now they rent an apartment on the 5th floor – with no elevator. Juna cannot carry her mother downstairs to take her to hospital.

Their apartment is cold. The roof leaks. There is no heater.

Her mother lies freezing, while Juna warms herself by the gas stove.

Juliet lies on a folding cot – because they cannot afford a proper bed.

Juna, 35, her daughter:

“I have no right not to ease her pain. She took me in when I was four… I must stay by her side until the end.”

Each day is worse than the one before.

Now everything depends on ordinary people. Most of our donors – nearly 90% – are not wealthy.

So, friends – Let’s fight death! Let’s tell it: it came too early. Every extra day this kind woman lives will be a small victory of good over evil. Think about it: if this were your mother – would you want someone to help?
