With her last strength, Nino is fighting – and learning how to breathe again. But now through a plastic tube in her throat.

The air no longer belongs to her. Every breath feels as if it passes through someone else’s body. With effort. With pain. With a rasping sound.

Sometimes it feels like she won’t manage – that the next breath simply… won’t come.

Nino is 45. And her life has suddenly become dependent on a tube in her throat and on other people’s hands – hands that change her dressings every day, transfuse blood, and try to act as if she can still be saved. The cancer didn’t just come. It took over territory.

Her lungs.
Her liver.
Her strength.

It kept growing while she was suffocating and searching for answers – for a whole year. A whole year without a name for the disease.
And when the name finally came, it sounded like a sentence already carried out.

Five rounds of chemotherapy. Her body wouldn’t have withstood radiation – yet Nino proved stronger than that.

And then came the moment when medicine in Georgia stepped back. Quietly. Almost indifferently: “We can’t do anything more.”

But Nino did not step back. Her last hope is reaching out – to a Fund, to us, friends. And salvation is close – but now in Turkey, where hope still lingers in the air, and where doctors don’t say “no” and, as we know from experience, keep their word. But there is one problem – money. The family has none left.

The most frightening thing is not the pain.

She understands that her time is no longer measured in years. Not even in months. But in days – days in which she must manage to take another breath. And still – she holds on.

to wake up, to breathe, and not to suffocate.
