Nino has been through something that is almost impossible to imagine. A routine operation was followed by severe complication – sepsis – and months spent in intensive care abroad.

There, she lost a part of herself… and the road back seemed almost impossible.

But now something has happened that the family was afraid to even hope for – the first signs of progress have appeared.

Nino is undergoing photostimulation therapy and rehabilitation. Every day is a small step forward, achieved at an enormous cost. The infusions, treatment, and constant care continue.

She is no longer where she was at the darkest moment. But she is still far from the life she deserves to live.

And now the most important thing is not to stop.

Without physiotherapy, medication, and care, this journey will simply come to an end.

If you had met Nino three months ago, you would have remembered her. Not because she was “beautiful.” That word is too small.

There are faces that seem to hold light within them – and you can’t quite tell where it comes from.

Nino had that light.

Now try to imagine: the same person – but without a gaze. Her eyes are open, but there is no response in them. Lips that once could speak – now make no sound. A body that once lived – now lies still, as if it has forgotten how.

January 12. A routine surgery. Polyps.
Stories like this are not supposed to end in tragedy. But this one did.

Sepsis.

Just a few hours – and her reality began to fall apart. The next day, it was gone. She did not die. Something worse happened. She is still here… but no longer herself.

Since then she’s been in an ICU. Silence. Waiting.
And a terrifying word no one dares to say out loud. Three months in the Netherlands. No results.
She came back home – but not back to life.

Nino can still be brought back. Not by a miracle. Not by prayer. By work. Through pain. Through rehabilitation. Every single day. Without stopping. Physiotherapy is her only chance to become herself again – not a shadow. But she doesn’t have that chance. Because her mother has nothing.

Marina. A woman who raised her alone. With no support. No one by her side. Just the two of them – always. Now she lives in the hospital. She doesn’t just “visit” – she lives there.

She sleeps beside her. She eats there. She looks at her daughter and, every day, learns how not to break.

She holds her hand and waits for the day her fingers will finally squeeze her hand back. But waiting is not treatment. Nino can be brought back. But only if we step in.
