Mariam Tsaava is only 9 years old. She understands everything… But she just doesn’t know that her mother has no money to send her for this miracle. 

She was born in Abkhazia, in Gali – a place where a normal childhood should have begun: the sea, the sun, laughter. But instead – on the third day of her life, she went through her first surgery.

Then a second.
Then a third.
And again – pain.
Again – fear.
Again – hospital walls that became more familiar to her than any playground.

From the very beginning: Fluid in her spine. Pressure on the spinal cord. Shunts that have to be replaced again and again because they stop working.
Summer 2025 brought a new hope. A month later she underwent another surgery. And everything starts all over again.

Her little legs are deformed. And yet… she talks. She thinks. She feels the world as deeply as any of us.

She understands what it means to say, “I want to run.”
She just… can’t.

Her mother, Tamriko, 32, is the head of the family.
She has three children. Their life is one endless struggle.

They left their home in Gagra. They left their life behind. They moved to Tbilisi not for a better life… but for a chance to save Mariam.

And do you know what matters most right now? For the first time in all these years, Mariam has a real chance. Doctors in Turkey say: after the surgery…
in two months… she will be able to walk.

Just imagine that.

A girl who has only ever seen the world from below may suddenly rise to her feet.  And run. This is not a beautiful metaphor. This is a real possibility. But that possibility comes at a cost the family simply cannot afford.

And now, everything depends on us.

Because sometimes a child’s fate is not an abstract story from the news.
It is a moment where we decide: will she remain trapped in pain…or feel the ground beneath her feet for the first time in her life?

Mariam has already done everything she could.
She survived.
She endured.
She did not give up.
