Niko has spent his whole life working tirelessly, using every cent to support his children and care for his ailing father, who is disabled. Then, one fateful day, his world collapsed. Step by step, his ability to move faded. Breathing became a struggle. His heart, after just two steps, felt as if it would explode from his chest. How many times have strangers had to bring him back from the brink of death?

Once full of energy, he can no longer even rise from the couch on his own.  His heart is twice the size it should be.
You, dear reader, surely know what that means… A ticking time bomb inside his body. He can barely breathe. He’s suffocating. And his family—too poor to afford even an oxygen machine.

Nikoloz (38 years old): “I was a craftsman, but now I can’t do anything at all.  I need a heart transplant to survive—but that costs a fortune. I’m clinging to hope, kind-hearted people… maybe someone, somewhere, can help me at least with medications.”

Just imagine what young, beautiful Ketevan must feel, being confined to a wheelchair at just 26 years old! One unfortunate day, she couldn’t take a single step—her legs just stopped responding. Her condition gets worse every day, but the family can’t afford the medical tests she needs. And without the correct diagnosis, there can be no treatment. To find out what’s tormenting Ketevan, she urgently needs an MRI of her brain and spine. For a family living in a village, with two small children—one of them seriously ill—this is an impossible expense.

Imagine a strong, healthy man suddenly losing his strength, rapidly losing weight, and becoming weaker before your eyes. Irakli suffered from excruciating headaches that sometimes caused him to lose consciousness. Medical examinations brought devastating news—a malignant brain tumor, medulloblastoma.

Doctors removed a massive tumor from his brain, one that was draining life out of him. The surgery was successful. After that, he endured 28 rounds of radiation therapy. And just when it seemed that the worst was behind him, the disease-stricken young man was dealt another blow! The cancer had spread to his bones. Now, it is slowly consuming his body from the inside! What does this mean? It means the nightmare has returned, and everything must start over again.

Irakli (31 years old): “I can’t sit or lie down. My legs, lower back, spine, and shoulders are in constant pain! The pain is driving me insane! The painkillers only work for a couple of hours, and I sometimes need up to six injections a day.  I can’t sleep at night. How much longer can I endure this?”

The constant pain and tension have caused his blood pressure to rise. His condition worsens with each passing day.

Can you imagine a dying, still young 41-year-old woman, gravely ill with a constant temperature of 39–40 degrees, sometimes managing to get out of bed to collect scrap metal just to buy medicine for herself and her severely ill children, and of course, some food? At least for them – for the children – she loves more than life! A horror that cannot be described in words! God forbid any of us to experience such a thing!!! We ask the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund to respond and take this family’s plight as their own! The most important thing God has allowed us to do in this life is not to pass by someone else’s misfortune!
First and foremost, we need to take care of the mother. If something happens to her, God forbid, we will never forgive ourselves!  It’s unimaginable how the sick children will cope without their mother. Mom is sacred to them, that’s all they have.

Every time Gela experiences an attack, he feels like he’s saying goodbye to life.  The ambulance might not make it in time to save him.   He struggles to breathe, unable to take even a single breath in or out. An oxygen concentrator is Gela’s only chance to survive, but he doesn’t have the money to buy one. His disability pension and 30-lari social allowance can’t even cover the medications cost. Every time he has an attack, the ambulance team has to come and revive him. Friends, Gela doesn’t remember a single joyful day in his life.  He was in fourth grade when his mother got sick, and he had to take on the responsibility of caring for the family.   This little boy milked a cow and cooked meals all by himself. He’s been through so much hardship and deserves a peaceful old age and the most basic comfort.  There’s no one else he can turn to but us!  Together, we can give Gela a chance to keep living!

Maya lost the ability to walk during her pregnancy. She gave birth to a wonderful son, Saba, but she herself stopped walking. It turned out that it was due to inflammation in her spinal cord. “For these four years, while my Saba was growing, I couldn’t even dress myself,” Maia says. “I couldn’t even straighten a sock on my foot. I couldn’t stand up or walk to the bathroom. I was just alive and breathing. What kind of life is that?” We will show you the results of the tests and treatments that Maia received thanks to the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund. Maia can walk with crutches, do exercises, and even do simple household chores. Maia has overcome her deep pessimism and believes that she will be able to take her son to kindergarten on her own! Thanks to the treatment, Maia has achieved real results. Thank you for helping her regain her spirit and believe in a positive outcome. However, there are still many problems where your help is needed. Maia has no means to feed or clothe her little son.
