“What I fear most is to die in front of my children. Several times I fainted, collapsed, and the children thought I was dead. Oh, how they cried... I could hear them, but I couldn't move! How nice it would be if I died that day and never saw my children suffer again!" These words come from Maia, a mother of three boys. She's reached a point where she can't bear to see her children suffer any longer. Vako, who is 6 years old, Saba, who is 4, and 2-year-old Akaki frequently go hungry and suffer from illness due to their constant lack of food.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“What I fear most is to die in front of my children. Several times I fainted, collapsed, and the children thought I was dead. Oh, how they cried... I could hear them, but I couldn't move! How nice it would be if I died that day and never saw my children suffer again!"

These words come from Maia, a mother of three boys. She's reached a point where she can't bear to see her children suffer any longer.  Vako, who is 6 years old, Saba, who is 4, and 2-year-old Akaki frequently go hungry and suffer from illness due to their constant lack of food.

"Saba has a heart condition, he has Down syndrome, and he can't even talk"

Maia: I dream of dying, and I genuinely mean it. This isn't for dramatic effect.  If I knew that it would even slightly improve my children's condition, I wouldn't hesitate to end my life. I can't go on living like this. I can't bear to see my children cry from hunger every day.  The allowance we receive barely covers anything. It all goes towards rent, diapers, medications, and flour.

"If you don't hold the teddy bear tight, it will run to the other kids"

- Does your husband work?

Maia: After I fainted several times and started experiencing severe back pain, my husband stays home with the kids.  He's afraid to leave me alone. Do you know how scared the kids were when I collapsed lifeless on the floor?

Akaki (2 years old): Mom was crying, crying like this "eeeeee" and then there was a thud, and she fell.  Poor Mom. Then Vako started shouting, "Mom's dead," and I began to cry.  That's how it all happened.

"Mom is a crybaby... she cries and then falls on the floor"

- How do you manage to cope?

Maia: Life has turned me into a beggar, both literally and figuratively. I've sacrificed all my dignity. Tears overwhelm me, but I have nothing to hide from you. Sometimes, I even go out on the street and stand with my hand out.  I cry and cry... but what can I do when my children are suffering from hunger? Those who have never seen their hungry child wouldn't understand.  Mothers can do anything just to avoid looking into those hungry eyes.

Vako (6-year-old): I go to school in slippers!  I have nothing else. And here in my tummy, it burns again. I drink a lot of water, but it doesn't help!

"Pasta again... I can't eat pasta anymore"

Akaki (2-year-old): I want to eat too! Noodles and bread, and bread, and noodles... I look at these pieces of bread and imagine they're sausage or candy.

Vako: Please, no pasta. I see it, and I start feeling sick.

“Tears flow themselves from hunger”

Maia: Who cursed me! Who?  Even to my worst enemy, I wouldn't wish to see children suffer like this! Vako and Akaki can speak and tell me what makes them cry. But Saba, my poor Saba - he doesn't talk at all.

"I dream of dying so I don't see my children suffer. But how will they live without me?"

- What is wrong with him?

Maia: He has Down syndrome and a heart defect. He can't do anything, can't talk at all, doesn’t develop. When kind people or neighbors bring us food, I always feed Saba first. I feel so sorry for him; he was born to suffer, just like all of us. But you know, sometimes I think, maybe Vako and Akaki can break free from poverty? Maybe God will give them a better life? I'm ready to sacrifice myself if it means they'll have a better life."

"My poor Saba doesn't even realize the dreadful environment he was born into"

- Maia, how did you imagine your life before getting married?

Maia: I knew I wasn't born for a beautiful life. I knew I would suffer. But even in my worst nightmares, I couldn't have imagined that I would have to beg for a piece of bread... I know, people here don't like beggars. They look at them with disgust, thinking:  'You're a healthy woman, go work and earn your bread.'  But nobody knows what’s wrong with me, what I'm going through. "Let the person who wouldn't reach out and beg when faced with the choice between children dying of hunger or mother dying of shame cast the first stone at me!"

“We pay 200 lari per month for this house. Before moving here, we lived in ruins where rats bit my children"

- You addressed our Fund; what kind of help is crucial for you right now?

Maia: First and foremost, it's groceries, groceries, and groceries! Second, we need diapers and medications. We also need beds. We don't have anything of our own. I dream of at least a small TV for the children so they can distract themselves from hunger.  That's all!

Akaki: The children also need toys! And lots of sausages and lots of candies...

Vako: And the children also need a bicycle! It's very, very necessary!

“I go to school in slippers!  I have neither shoes, nor clothes”

- I think you definitely need to see a doctor!  The fact that you're losing consciousness can potentially be addressed with medication.

Maia: I can't afford to go to the doctor! Once I went, and they prescribed so many tests! I could feed my children well for a month with that money!  Explain to me how impoverished people can afford a test that costs 70 lari! How? So, I've given up on my own health. If only my children would not die of hunger.

Vako, Saba, and Akaki - these are not just names. They are the future of our country, dreams that might remain unfulfilled if we don't intervene. These are children who want to eat, dream of pasta and bread, not toys and entertainment.

We, as a society, are faced with a choice. We can support Maia and her children, helping them escape at least from hunger. Let's do everything possible to support them before it's too late. If they die of hunger, can we ever forgive ourselves? Can we look into our own children's eyes as we buy them treats?

If your children were hungry and sick, what would you do? Surely, you would do everything possible to provide for their needs, to give them happiness and care. Let's do this for Maia and her children. Let's do it together. Because this unfortunate woman can't cope alone anymore!

If you are willing to visit this family and help them in person, here is their address: Gardavani, village Mtisdziri.
