Little Mari cannot do without her mother for even a minute. Her mom is so cozy, why let her go?  You can pinch her cheeks, bury your face in her chest, climb on her, and hug her. You can hold her by her housecoat while she does something incomprehensible. The little one does not know that her mother is thinking about suicide, she dreams of dying. And if it happens so that her mother’s dark thoughts win, she will no longer have anyone to hold. Marikuna with the face of Miss Universe and her sister of unprecedented beauty - the newborn Khatia, do not know how close they are to the edge of the abyss.

 Only these two angels are holding Nino so that she does not lay hands on herself. Her heart is bursting with grief. What it feels like - to have two little chicks and not be able to give them food, clothes, warmth, a roof over their heads? How mother can tolerate this?

- Nino, even if everything is very, very bad now, you have a powerful clue - two beautiful daughters.

Nino: I know that it is a big sin to think about suicide. I won't do it, sure. My babies will not be left alone. No way! (She kisses the heads of her daughters). When I lose hope, then such thoughts come to my head, I scold myself, pray, and ask God for forgiveness. He never lets me down, although I worry often. But now we have this house, and we can live here. Our neighbors bring us food. Very kind girls work in the pharmacy nearby - they give me medications on credit.

- Are you renting this apartment?

Nino: Yes. I rent it from our landlady. A cradle and an old TV are the only things that belong to me here. It’s a very good apartment, I am happy with it. For 100 lari I have where to sleep and where to cook. An apartment with a shower and a toilet would be expensive, and one with a refrigerator and a washing machine would be even more expensive. I heat the water on the stove, and bathe the children in a washtub, in the room. The food does not spoil - it is so cold in the other room, that I store food there. I wash laundry with my hands, or sometimes I take laundry to my mother.

- Does she live nearby?

Nino: No, my real mother lives far away, in Kutaisi, I miss her. This is how I call my good neighbor, who takes care of me like a mother. When I moved to this place to live with my two children, she received me very warmly. She saw how lost I was, and started helping me. She brought us firewood, gave us lunch, stayed with my children when it was necessary. She baptized my Khatia, she is a very close person to me, I love her with all my heart.

- How did you find yourself in such situation?

Nino: I don't even know why my life has changed so much. My husband and I were fine. He worked on the railroad, I looked after the house. We got along for two years and had a great life. We coped with difficulties together. When it happened so that we had a half-loaf of bread at home - he didn’t eat it himself, he left it for me. When Mari was born, he willingly helped me: he bathed her and he got up at night when it was necessary. Even when he was tired after work. I wonder what happened to him. I don’t know… My husband didn’t want to have a second child, he said, “have an abortion.” But I had my own way. How can you get rid of the angel that God himself gives to your family?

 And he left, he left me pregnant. He has not even seen what a pretty doll was born - our Khatia.  He has not seen Mari taking her first steps. Has not heard her saying her first words. Mari says three words - “mom”, “dad”, “give me”. I taught her to say "dad". The child has two parents. Even if my husband does not want to see me anymore, if he is tired of me, this is our common child, his flesh and blood. 

 Can you write that he can always come to see his children whenever he wants? I will not interfere, I will be just happy. I have no claim on him.

They suspended social allowance for us, but the baby needs diapers and formula right now!

- How long has he not appeared?

Nino: 7 months (sighs). I am an adult, and I accept any situation. But it hurts me because of our daughters. Why did they deserve such a life - not to have a dad? I do not regret anything, and if I had to repeat life, I would do everything in the same way. God has fulfilled my greatest wish, to have children. They are healthy and beautiful. As soon as I can work, everything will be fine with us. It’s hard now, because I can’t do anything myself, and I have to bother people. I am very embarrassed, but we will perish without help. They suspended the social allowance - 250 GEL - for me and Mari. They make recalculation, since the second child was born. 

I don’t have breast milk because of worries, Khatia needs formula. Mari is also looking for breasts all the time and gets angry when they are empty. I can't even give milk to my children.

(Mari tries again to get under her mother’s housecoat and get something from her breast. But it doesn’t work, and she cries. Nino prepares an instant noodle with bread for her child).

- You are a good mother, Nino. You are very kind and warm woman. Do not scold yourself for being unable to do anything now. The time will come, and you will do everything in your power for them. Let us take care of you right now.

Nino: I trust our people. I can rely on them. Only in Georgia a neighbor can become a mother to you.

Marikuna and Khatia cannot let their mother go to work yet, they really need her! Let's take care of these wonderful children!

Nino now has one job - to be a mother for her wonderful daughters. She cannot work and earn money - her daughters are still too young. The babies now have no warm water (they need a gas water heater), no formula, no diapers. It is so hard for Nino to cope without a washing machine. She does not have the necessary conditions to care for two little children. You will see for yourself if you visit them in person. It is hard when your loved one leaves you when you are in a defenseless state. Tons of problems arise immediately, and it is impossible to cope with them alone. We cannot live Nino now in such a despair.
