The life you build day by day can be destroyed by a single drunk driver. In a second, in just a few moments, all your plans, dreams, and hopes can be annihilated.’I always had everything under control, and I thought it would be that way until old age.Perhaps, you think the same? But in reality, our future is as fragile as glass. It turns out that my entire life was in the hands of a reckless drunk driver. He could have not only killed himself but also destroyed someone else’s family, dreams, and even lives as a whole,’ Anton says with pain in his heart. ‘But it was I who stood in his way.’

“To exist is not to live… I found myself in a living hell! To be alive now feels like a curse.”

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“To be alive doesn’t mean you’re living. I’ve ended up in hell!”

– But the most important thing is that you’re alive, Anton!

Anton:The fact that I survived the accident doesn’t mean I escaped hell. This accident destroyed me as a person. I’ve undergone 14 surgeries, each time facing death. Yes, I’m alive, but now my life is just suffering. I haven’t been able to recover from these pains for 10 years.

– How do you cope on your own with such injuries?

Anton: Ask directly: what is it like to be alone and without a leg? It’s not just physical pain but also emotional torment. Over the course of ten years, I’ve learned to live with constant pain. I’ve coped with even greater losses.Just look at what I’ve become.I can’t even afford basic medication, and sometimes I don’t have enough money for food.  I drown my pain in tears.

“I’ve been alone all day, just sitting here, pondering how to carry on and what lies ahead for me.”

– Going through 14 surgeries, enduring 14 anesthesia sessions, losing a leg, and yet managing to remain a kind-hearted person – that’s something not everyone can do.

Anton: I’ve always been that way. I tried to do good deeds. I could never harm another person.  Even to the driver who crippled my life, I didn’t file a lawsuit. I asked him, like a man, to support me financially because the surgeries were very expensive. And what do you think, how did he repay me? In no way! He didn’t even say thank you.  He gave me 200 lari and disappeared. But honestly, I don’t hold a grudge against him.  God will be his judge. But I’ll say one thing: my miserable life is on his conscience.

“Look at what I used to be and what I’ve become. My life was shattered by a drunk driver.”

– Anton, how did you end up in this structure?  What is it exactly?

Anton:This used to be a cattle barn. I transformed it with my own hands into a dwelling. My parental home was destroyed during an earthquake, and it couldn’t be repaired. So, I took out a loan from the bank, thinking I would build a small house with my own two hands. However, the money only stretched far enough to put up the walls. And then, to avoid being left out in the open, decided to settle into this stall for a while. I cleaned it up and brought it into a decent condition.Well, as decent as it could be.It’s clean, and it doesn’t smell like cows. I’ve always been a hardworking person, unwilling to give up. Building this barn was my last hope.

“The place I’m in right now is a cattle barn.  Don’t be afraid – it’s clean. I’ve cleaned everything up with my own hands and made it look decent.”

The parents’ house was destroyed

Anton did not manage to complete the construction of a new house.

That’s why he lives in this stable.

– What do you do now?”

Anton: To be honest, I don’t like being alone in solitude. I wish I had a TV to somehow break the monotony of my day. I used to be a very active person. I have a veterinary education. I always had a job. I used to work as a breeder, a sports complex director, and a superintendent.Even on the day of the accident, I was on my way from work.God, who could have thought?!If I had left one minute later or the driver had arrived one minute earlier, this might not have happened.I used to live a full life, and now I don’t even have anyone to talk to.

“I’ve lived a meaningful life, trying to spread kindness wherever I could. Now, as I sit here, I find myself reflecting on those days. I don’t even have a television to turn on and fill the quiet moments.”

– Do you have any close relatives?

Anton: My wife, who was the closest person to me, passed away a long time ago.My children are grown, with their own lives. They take care of me as best they can. They call and check up on me.My surgeries put a heavy burden on their shoulders. My sister lives nearby in the village. She brings me hot meals and helps with my laundry. But I don’t want to be a burden to her.I can’t keep asking her to bring me this or that every time.  Sometimes I just endure the pain to save money and not go hungry.

“I try to keep the room clean. My sister helps me. And my children visit me when they can.”

– It’s good that you reached out to us. How did you find out about us?

Anton: Well, it seems like everyone in Georgia knows about you.I hesitated for a long time before reaching out, but then I thought, why should I be ashamed? What would I do if someone asked me for help?  I would gladly assist. Why would others think differently?

‘I know that asking for help is not something to be ashamed of. I judge by myself. I would help anyone.'”

– How can we help you?

Anton: First and foremost, I humbly request a television. I can’t stand the silence; it drives me crazy. Also, I am in great need of a refrigerator. I would be grateful for any food and medication that I cannot afford. I am a simple person, I don’t drink or smoke.Even the smallest things would be like a gift from God to me! I will be grateful for anything. And one more thing: perhaps there are small washing machines available, so I can wash my clothes and bedding myself without burdening my sister?

“Sometimes I don’t have enough money for basic pain relievers, and I have to endure the pain.”

What would you do, my friends, if you found yourself in Anton’s shoes? I would reach out to everyone I know, and even those I don’t, to seek help. As it says in the Bible: “Ask, and it will be given to you.”Let’s make sure that this man, who has done so many good deeds in his life, is not left alone. He has already been let down by the person for whom he did good by not suing.Let’s help Anton regain his faith in people and find the strength to live out his old age with dignity.

As it’s written in the Bible: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).Let’s walk this path together with Anton, helping him carry his heavy burden, so he can once again feel the warmth and care of this world.

In conclusion, it’s important to emphasize that our lives are fragile and valuable, and we must cherish every second. One mistake can destroy everything we’ve built over the years.Take care not only of your own life but also of the lives of others, by assisting those who find themselves in a life-altering situation due to someone else’s negligence.
