Vako (6 years old): Do you know who owns this house? And the land? Look how much there is! And these chickens, the pear tree, and the apple tree? Look over there!  I am the owner. And I am also a citizen of Georgia. Mom said so!

“For nine years, we lived in terrible rented apartments, – says Maia. We were exhausted. We moved not only from apartment to apartment but also from city to city. For non-payment, the landlords drove us out like dogs, not even giving us a chance to take our belongings, our clothes. We left with nothing, in tears, humiliated and tired. No one will kick us out anymore! The Chernovetskyi Fund ensured that my children have a roof over their heads, that they feel happy and dignified! I still can’t believe that we are the owners of a two-story house with six rooms and a spacious yard. No other fund we turned to was able to help us! But you gave us a home! I don’t know when my joyous shock will wear off, but my gratitude will last a lifetime!

“Mommy, don’t die!” Three little children  and their critically ill mother are starving! The children have started to eat grass, can we really allow this?

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“What I fear most is to die in front of my children. Several times I fainted, collapsed, and the children thought I was dead. Oh, how they cried… I could hear them, but I couldn’t move! How nice it would be if I died that day and never saw my children suffer again!”

These words come from Maia, a mother of three boys. She’s reached a point where she can’t bear to see her children suffer any longer.  Vako, who is 6 years old, Saba, who is 4, and 2-year-old Akaki frequently go hungry and suffer from illness due to their constant lack of food.

“Saba has a heart condition, he has Down syndrome, and he can’t even talk”

Maia: I dream of dying, and I genuinely mean it. This isn’t for dramatic effect.  If I knew that it would even slightly improve my children’s condition, I wouldn’t hesitate to end my life. I can’t go on living like this. I can’t bear to see my children cry from hunger every day.  The allowance we receive barely covers anything. It all goes towards rent, diapers, medications, and flour.

“If you don’t hold the teddy bear tight, it will run to the other kids”

– Does your husband work?

Maia: After I fainted several times and started experiencing severe back pain, my husband stays home with the kids.  He’s afraid to leave me alone. Do you know how scared the kids were when I collapsed lifeless on the floor?

Akaki (2 years old): Mom was crying, crying like this “eeeeee” and then there was a thud, and she fell.  Poor Mom. Then Vako started shouting, “Mom’s dead,” and I began to cry.  That’s how it all happened.

“Mom is a crybaby… she cries and then falls on the floor”

– How do you manage to cope?

Maia: Life has turned me into a beggar, both literally and figuratively. I’ve sacrificed all my dignity. Tears overwhelm me, but I have nothing to hide from you. Sometimes, I even go out on the street and stand with my hand out.  I cry and cry… but what can I do when my children are suffering from hunger? Those who have never seen their hungry child wouldn’t understand.  Mothers can do anything just to avoid looking into those hungry eyes.

Vako (6-year-old): I go to school in slippers!  I have nothing else. And here in my tummy, it burns again. I drink a lot of water, but it doesn’t help!

“Pasta again… I can’t eat pasta anymore”

Akaki (2-year-old): I want to eat too! Noodles and bread, and bread, and noodles… I look at these pieces of bread and imagine they’re sausage or candy.

Vako: Please, no pasta. I see it, and I start feeling sick.

“Tears flow themselves from hunger”

Maia: Who cursed me! Who?  Even to my worst enemy, I wouldn’t wish to see children suffer like this! Vako and Akaki can speak and tell me what makes them cry. But Saba, my poor Saba – he doesn’t talk at all.

“I dream of dying so I don’t see my children suffer. But how will they live without me?”

– What is wrong with him?

Maia: He has Down syndrome and a heart defect. He can’t do anything, can’t talk at all, doesn’t develop. When kind people or neighbors bring us food, I always feed Saba first. I feel so sorry for him; he was born to suffer, just like all of us. But you know, sometimes I think, maybe Vako and Akaki can break free from poverty? Maybe God will give them a better life? I’m ready to sacrifice myself if it means they’ll have a better life.”

“My poor Saba doesn’t even realize the dreadful environment he was born into”

– Maia, how did you imagine your life before getting married?

Maia: I knew I wasn’t born for a beautiful life. I knew I would suffer. But even in my worst nightmares, I couldn’t have imagined that I would have to beg for a piece of bread… I know, people here don’t like beggars. They look at them with disgust, thinking:  ‘You’re a healthy woman, go work and earn your bread.’  But nobody knows what’s wrong with me, what I’m going through. “Let the person who wouldn’t reach out and beg when faced with the choice between children dying of hunger or mother dying of shame cast the first stone at me!”

“We pay 200 lari per month for this house. Before moving here, we lived in ruins where rats bit my children”

– You addressed our Fund; what kind of help is crucial for you right now?

Maia: First and foremost, it’s groceries, groceries, and groceries! Second, we need diapers and medications. We also need beds. We don’t have anything of our own. I dream of at least a small TV for the children so they can distract themselves from hunger.  That’s all!

Akaki: The children also need toys! And lots of sausages and lots of candies…

Vako: And the children also need a bicycle! It’s very, very necessary!

“I go to school in slippers!  I have neither shoes, nor clothes”

– I think you definitely need to see a doctor!  The fact that you’re losing consciousness can potentially be addressed with medication.

Maia: I can’t afford to go to the doctor! Once I went, and they prescribed so many tests! I could feed my children well for a month with that money!  Explain to me how impoverished people can afford a test that costs 70 lari! How? So, I’ve given up on my own health. If only my children would not die of hunger.

Vako, Saba, and Akaki – these are not just names. They are the future of our country, dreams that might remain unfulfilled if we don’t intervene. These are children who want to eat, dream of pasta and bread, not toys and entertainment.

We, as a society, are faced with a choice. We can support Maia and her children, helping them escape at least from hunger. Let’s do everything possible to support them before it’s too late. If they die of hunger, can we ever forgive ourselves? Can we look into our own children’s eyes as we buy them treats?

If your children were hungry and sick, what would you do? Surely, you would do everything possible to provide for their needs, to give them happiness and care. Let’s do this for Maia and her children. Let’s do it together. Because this unfortunate woman can’t cope alone anymore!

If you are willing to visit this family and help them in person, here is their address: Gardavani, village Mtisdziri.

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!

We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.

I don’t know when my joyous shock will wear off, but my gratitude will last a lifetime!

Friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund gave the Ambokadze family a house! And not just any house, but with a land plot of 3,400 square meters!

Three rooms on the first floor, and three more on the second.

– Maia, how was your farewell with your last landlord? And how are you settling in at the new place? Share your joy, tell us everything!

Maia: Oh, for the first time in my life, we parted on good terms, like human beings. He was happy for us and gave us his blessing. Look, see how much space the children have, they play football. We have an apple tree, a pear tree, and a tkemali tree growing in our yard. By the way, I’ve already made tkemali preserves.

Vako: “I’ll score goals like Kvaratskhelia!”

Vako: “Kvara would probably praise me for such a shot, right?”

Maia: We are settling in, there are three rooms on the first floor, and three more on the second floor. We’ll set up the kitchen on the first floor, and the bathroom is already there. Upstairs we have a bedroom and a children’s room. I have many plans for this house and yard; you’ve inspired me! God willing, everything will go well, and my husband will find steady work,  and I want to start a garden and raise chickens. My husband is a craftsman of soft furniture, and friends have given him the equipment for his work.

“Here, Dad is setting up the kitchen on the first floor, it’s not ready yet.”

Vako: “This is our bedroom. I sleep like this, on my back, and have a rest.”

Vako: “I found a funny program on my new tablet. Look how it changes the face!”

Maia: We used to live in the Gardabani district, now we are in Samtredia. The city welcomed us warmly. Our neighbors are wonderful, kind, and responsive. They drop by, ask how they can help, and bring cheese and milk for the children.

Thanks to you, we are starting a new life. Vako will go to the local school, and Saba will go to kindergarten. We have the nicest expectations. And I feel an amazing peace in my soul. That’s what having your own home means!

Vako (6 years old): I have my own land! I have my own apple tree, my own pear tree, my own fig tree, and my own persimmon tree! You haven’t seen the back of the house yet, there’s a forest there, it’s mine too. And I have two chicks, they will grow up and lay eggs! And I have a swing too! Come on, I’ll show you the apple tree!

Akaki (2 years old): Hey, that’s not fair! You’ll show everything, huh? But I have a bedroom and a room with toys, I’ll show those, okay? And I’ll show you a pear tree too. Got it?!

– Oh, what a pity that we have to do an interview. But it’s okay, I’ll be quick, and we’ll go to see your land! And I’ll take Saba in my arms now. Maya, were you able to get a pension for Saba?

Maia: My Saba, my sunny boy, is the happiest! He loves our new home so much. He even forgot about his ailments.

“Saba loves the new home. Our sunshine no longer cries!”

Maia: You helped us finally get a pension for the child. Without a genetic analysis, they wouldn’t give it to us. Thank you for paying for these tests, and now, like it or not, the state must grant him the pension, we will get 270 lari. Together we managed to achieve this.

Vako: “I have my own apple tree, my own pear tree, and my own persimmon tree…”

Vako: “This is how I coolly relax under my apple tree.” Akaki: “I’ll stand here too and relax.”

Vako: “Can you swing me hard? I love it so much! I didn’t have my own swing before!”

– How do you feel about the friends of the Fund? Did you meet any of them in person?

Maia: Amazing people live in my Georgia! Just incredible! So warm, kind, humane, attentive! “Tkveni chirime!” I am proud, I love, and I am ready to cry tears of happiness! Thanks to the Chernovetskyi Fund for these wonderful personal acquaintances! So many people came to our old home! People brought food, clothes, toys, bedding, school supplies… They drove us crazy with joy; the children were floating on air! And now they’re going crazy (laughs), as you can see. I managed to remember three names from the stream of visitors – Dika Salakaia, Tamar Jimshitashvili, Nato Gelashvili. And then my memory failed because remembering dozens of names is very difficult.

But here’s what I want to say – I will never forget this miracle you all did for us. The Chernovetskyi Fund is the first to really and strongly help us. My prayers and blessings are for all of you. My wishes for all friends – health, a prosperous, happy life, well-being for every family in Georgia.

Vako: “I never had a bike, so I can’t ride! But I must learn properly over the summer.”

Akaki: Auntie, are you coming to see our land? Will you go to the river with us? I’ll show you the horses too.

– You have a river here too? Super!

Akaki: Dad catches fish there, and I help him to catch it.

Maia: Yes, and there’s a river. And the racetrack is nearby. You picked a good place for us.

– Maia, what remains a problem at the moment?

Maia: Food, and food again. We’ve changed our address, so social allowance has been temporarily suspended. We need to hold out a little until it’s restored so that we don’t starve…
