The Lord gives us a chance, friends, to give the most precious gift in the world to Nikoloz: to give him life!
The little one has cancer. Three years ago, his stomach started aching, and his mom thought he had eaten too many chips, but the pain only became stronger! “And the doctors gave an almost fatal ‘verdict’ – KIDNEY CANCER!”
Nikoloz (7-year-old): Yes, Auntie, I have cancer. They took me to hospital and did not let me out from there. They told me: ‘If we let you go, you will die’ – and I got scared! Very scared! Then they urgently ‘flew’ me to Germany, took X-rays, then cut my stomach open and found cancer there. I don’t know what it is, what it looks like – but I know it’s scary! They removed my kidney. Then I came back home, but I felt bad again and we had to go to Germany again, and they removed my spleen and something else. Then they gave me a lot of medicines, did some radiation, transfusions, and chemotherapy to shrink and stop the cancer. I felt better. I won’t die,

The entire surgery costs a lot, and we’ve gathered such a large sum for the first time. Of course, we are contributing too. Thank you, friends, for helping us raise the majority of the funds! If we don’t gather the remaining amount soon, we will use our own funds. But know that our goal is to open your hearts to God and help as many children and elderly people as possible! Alone, we simply won’t be enough for all of Georgia! But together, we will overcome any death!”
– And what is the scariest part?
Nikoloz: I am very afraid because when I lost my hair, I saw many same-aged children in the hospital. We often talked before bedtime. And then they would fall asleep and not wake up! They were taken somewhere! I don’t know where, but it scared me so much! I don’t know why! Do you know where they were taken, Auntie?
Mariam (6 years old): “When Datuna talks about death, it brings tears to my eyes right away.” But God will save my brother, won’t He?”
I won’t die, will I?
But now, another small piece of this damned CANCER appeared in my lung. And we need to go to Germany again. But mom doesn’t have any more money. I’m so afraid – if we can’t go, I will die!”
Nikoloz-Datuna: I pray too. They taught me how to pray in hospital in Georgia. I light a candle, close my eyes, and ask with all my heart: God, please, don’t let me die!
“If you ask God with all your heart, He’ll hear everything.
– How do you feel after those surgeries?
Nikoloz-Datuna: I feel a bit better, but sometimes, I’m so weak I can’t even get out of bed. I can’t play, I can’t eat khinkali and chips! You know how tough that is? But most importantly, for everything to end quickly! So they would stop cutting me! And also… I love my sister very much, and she worries a lot about me. I tell her I’m fine, but she doesn’t believe it. She comes, hugs me, and cries… But I won’t talk about that. Because of me, she doesn’t even go to school, so she won’t catch anything there and bring it to me – any illness that kids at school get, because if I catch even a cold, I’ll die immediately! That’s what the doctors said!
“How to explain to my sister that I’m not dying yet?”
– Do you know why you can’t get sick?
Nikoloz-Datuna: I take tons of medicine, and all this ‘chemistry’ killed my immune system, that’s what Mom says. So right now, I won’t be able to fight even a simple cold. But I know, after I have the surgery and they cut out that bad node from my lung too, then I’ll live like a real human!
‘Look at all my scars! They cut my stomach twice, and tubes were sticking out from everywhere.’
– What do you mean by saying “I’ll live like a real human”?
Nikoloz-Datuna: That’s when they are not afraid to go outside, not afraid to play with other kids. They eat whatever they want and go to school! I have so many friends there!
“I used to be able to run and jump all day. Now I have no strength, and I always want to sleep. They’ll cut out this node from my lung, I’ll recover, and I’ll run around then…”
‘I want to live like a real boy and not be afraid of catching a cold and dying.’
Maka (Nikolozi-Datuna’s mom): He’s always been a lively, active kid. You see, even this terrible illness couldn’t break him. Because of his personality, all the doctors in Georgia and Germany adore him. He wants to understand what’s happening to him and asks questions sometimes that I don’t know how to answer. The scariest question: ‘I won’t die, will I?’ He was really upset when his hair fell out. His fluffy curly hair! He compared it to other facts and said, ‘That girl who was in the hospital with me, after her hair fell out, she died. Does that mean I will too?’ I told him she didn’t die; she went to get treatment in another country.
‘I dream that one day they’ll say the magic word ‘healthy,’ and we’ll never have to go through chemo, transfusions, and radiation procedures again.’
– What are your expectations for the third surgery?
Maka: It’s a chance for salvation. It’s our ticket to a healthy life. It’s the only chance to beat cancer and keep living. If it were possible, I’d trade my life for the needed amount! We’re very close to victory now, but we simply don’t have the means. We sold everything, borrowed from everyone we know, and now our only hope is you and complete strangers! I dream that one day they’ll say the magic word ‘healthy,’ and we’ll never have to go through chemo, transfusions, and radiation procedures again.”
Little Datuna with bright eyes that sparkle despite all the trials. And just when it seemed like the darkest chapter in the boy’s life was behind him, cancer returned to test his strength once again. The Datuna family found themselves on the brink of despair, but a spark of hope ignited in their hearts – hope for a miracle.
Please join us and help spread this call. Datuna needs our support to conquer cancer and continue his life’s journey. Let’s work a miracle together and give him a chance for the future.

Maka (mom): “Thank you, Chernovetskyi Fund, for sounding the alarm across Georgia and saving my son!”
“When I return to Georgia, I will come to the Chernovetskyi Fund to show you my scar from the surgery, bring khachapuri baked by my grandmother, and hug you all,” says 7-year-old Nikoloz Vardosanidze, whose life and fate were in your hands. – Help me gather everyone who participated in raising the money! Let’s share the khachapuri with everyone!”
Nikoloz is currently undergoing treatment at a German clinic, which cost 25,000 euros and became possible thanks to your quick and united help. He is overflowing with emotions when he speaks on the phone about all of you: “Thank you for my life! I love you very, very much! May you never feel any pain, and may God grant you health for life!”
– Our boy, how are you now, how are you today?! Tell me please!
Nikoloz: Today I got to my feet on my own, without anyone’s help, put on my slippers and walked around the ward. I’m not dizzy, I’m fine. I feel a little bit weak, but that’s okay.
– What are you allowed to eat now?
Nikoloz: Yogurt and cereal for now. But I’ll wait until I can have interesting, tasty food – what they don’t give you in the hospital.
– A real little Georgian! And how are you breathing, Nikoloz? You’ve had lung surgery.
Nikoloz: I’m fine, but I have to do exercises to make my lungs work well. One uncle-doctor gave me a machine, I have to blow there, as if I’m inflating a balloon. He also massages me to make me breathe better. They took all the tubes out of me and now I can roll over on my side.
Maka (mom): The drains have already been removed from Nikoloz. Today is the fifth day after the surgery. The operation lasted more than three hours: two small nodes on the lungs (metastases) were removed. The doctors are happy with how everything went and say that the healing is progressing normally. To bring the oxygen level in the blood (saturation) back to normal, Nikoloz has been instructed to do breathing exercises. With God’s help and thanks to your tireless care, we are moving forward step by step!
In Germany, two nodes were removed from Nikoloz’s lungs. The healing is progressing normally.
Nikoloz: Thank you to the Chernovetskyi Fund and the readers for bringing not only me to Germany but also my mom and grandma! You are so kind that you didn’t want me to be scared alone here! My mom and grandma are with me all day, and they leave in the evening. My grandma entertains me here, and so does the phone.
Maka: I am happy that you saved my son! I am overwhelmed with emotions that I cannot express in words! Thank you, Chernovetskyi Fund, for sounding the alarm across Georgia telling everyone about my son’s disease! Alone, I would not have been able to inform so many people, let alone raise such a sum. You gathered everyone, united them, and quickly sent us to Germany. Every donation of yours helped save a life! My God, I will cry again now!
– Have you met anyone from the readers personally?
Nikoloz: While I was in Tbilisi, people also came to my house. I brought the gifted car with me to Germany. It is my absolute favorite! It protects me from death.
– We all protect you, so don’t be afraid of anything! Maka, what is the further treatment plan?
Maka: We are waiting for the results of the biopsy and then we will know where to go from here. The nodules removed during the surgery were sent for biopsy. May the merciful Lord grant us only good news further!
Nikoloz drew his house in Tbilisi, where he wants to return strong and healthy! We are all waiting for you!
