Due to the incessant itching, the baby cries day and night without relief! “Nicholas’s whole body is covered in sores. His skin is cracked, itchy, and bleeding. Exhausted, he is ready to tear his skin off, and when he is not allowed to scratch his wounded body, he cries and screams so much that it breaks my, my sick mother’s, and my husband’s hearts! – says Mariam, the boy’s mother. And all this horror happens just because the doctors made the wrong diagnosis. Such a cute boy! Poor thing almost died during the week he spent in the intensive care unit!”

Inhuman pain! Poor thing spent a week with a high fever in the intensive care unit.
Mariam (mother): “Can you imagine his pain, that even in his sleep my sunshine groans and cries?”
Mariam: “That’s how my baby looked like before the blood transfusion! He’s my heart! Look how cute and good he is!”
The second son, 9-year-old Nukri, suffers from abject poverty! Due to lack of money to heat water, the boy’s skin on his hands bleeds and cracks. He really, really wants to help his unfortunate mom! Because besides him, there is no one else to help! But how can he do it with such hands? When buying even the cheapest hand cream is impossible – it’s not sold without money!
Nukri: “Georgian boys shouldn’t cry! But sometimes the pain makes you want to! And because of mom too… I feel so sorry for mom! Everyone is sick, and she wants to comfort everyone and take care of everyone.”
Mariam (Mom): It hurts me so much to see children suffer because of our financial situation! But what can I do? Because of my husband’s hard work, something happened to his head. We have no money for an MRI. And he’s started fainting often. I hope it’s not cancer! He needs to get checked. But he won’t even think about it until the kids are better. And what if he dies? What will we do then? We have a big family! There’s also a sick mom! And the allowance is only enough for cheap groceries!
It’s impossible to feed five children and at least treat two of them so they don’t suffer, as well as mom and husband! And now mom and husband have completely refused any medication, knowing that if I buy them instead of bread for the children, kids will go hungry!
“My mom is sick, and I can’t even buy her medication. She refuses to take them when she knows that the medication was bought instead of bread.”
– But how did you live before?
Mariam: Not long ago, my husband and mother were working. We were never wealthy, but always happy! Look how many children we’ve had! There was always enough for medicine for the children and food!
Nukri: “If you don’t insult us, then be friends with us! And share toys and cure my brother!”
Mariam: Believe me, I would never have reached out to the Fund if misfortune hadn’t struck me from all sides! Now you are our only hope! And it is only your kindness that determines whether we live or suffer and die!!!
Alina (11-year-old): I really want to grow up quickly and start working. Maybe at least I can buy something for the little ones. They cry so bitterly with hunger sometimes.
“I want to grow up quickly and start working, because now we are starving”
Barbare (5-year-old): When I’m hungry, right here (points to belly) my tummy starts screaming with hunger. I can’t remember the last time I ate something tasty.
“We don’t have toys and nobody wants to lend us any because we don’t even have friends.”
Nukri (9-year-old): My mom cries a lot. I have seen her in pain when we ask for food. And she says – be patient just a little longer!
Barbare: I want milk like the neighbors have. Mommy says we don’t have money. Why don’t we have money for milk? I don’t understand.
“Just a little bit me, then you. We have one ball for five of us!”
– How much money do you think it takes to have milk and something good to eat at home?
Barbare: Oh! I don’t even know! Probably two hundred a lot of money!
Alina: And I keep thinking, how much money does it take to make someone want to be friends with you?
“How much money do you need so that you don’t starve and people want to be friends with you?”
– Do you think you need money for friendship?
Alina: I know that for sure! I have very few friends – only those who don’t pay attention to what I’m wearing. But it’s important to others – they say unpleasant things. I used to cry, but now I’m used to it.
“They’re laughing at me because of these shoes…”
– Why do you think this happens?
Nukri: I know! Nobody wants to be friends with the poor. I have nothing. I always ask others to lend me a bicycle… And what can I lend others? Nothing! That’s why they’re not friends.
“If I have a good bike, do you think they’ll want to be friends with me?”
– And if you have a bike, do you think people will want to be friends with you?
Nukri: God! If I have a bicycle, I don’t want anyone to be friends with me! But I will have a bicycle!
Alina: And I’m dreaming of a tablet. Or a cell phone. It’s so frustrating when everyone else has one and you’re the only one who doesn’t.
Barbare: I want a doll! A girlfriend doll! I’ll be friends with her. I’ll name her Tea. And Barbare and Tea will be friends!
Gabriel: Uh, what about me? I want a lot of good things, too! A good car, good food, lots and lots of good food! And cartoons! And a car!
“I wonder what little Nikoloz is dreaming about? Does he realize how hard his life will be when he grows up?”
– You mentioned the car before…
Gabriel: I want another one. What if one breaks?
– Mariam, what do you want?
Mariam: Listening to my kids makes my heart bleed. What should I do, how should I go on living? They never told me about their worries, they spared me. But now I see how much they suffer. And it’s not just because of hunger. You can do nothing – not everyone is lucky enough to be born into a rich family (crying).
“I can’t bear to see my children suffering.”
– Mariam, calm down. We will do our best to improve your situation. – What do you need most urgently?
Mariam: We need everything! But food is the most important thing. We also need a washing machine, a refrigerator, beds, clothes and shoes… But how can I ask for more when the children are starving?
In this family, the struggle to survive has become their everyday reality. Parents are facing challenges that wear down their spirits and bodies. They have to come to terms with the fact that their children are experiencing hunger, which breaks their spirit and destroys their health. We’ve witnessed many children falling seriously ill due to constant lack of food, and now the cost of their treatment is overwhelming.
This story is a cry for help. In our society, where abundance and luxury are often taken for granted, it’s crucial not to overlook those who are suffering from hunger. The hunger of children is a fact that should send shivers down every heart and prompt sympathy. Just because our own children aren’t hungry doesn’t mean that everything is fine for everyone else.
Take a look around! Let’s not allow hunger to turn these wonderful children into embittered citizens. Otherwise, they may even turn to crime!
The Bible says: But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? (1 John 3:17) In these challenging times, when hungry children knock on the doors of our hearts, we, as humans, must open them, offering a helping hand.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Signakhi Municipality, village Tsnori, 31 Kizikhi Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save this family from imminent death.
Please don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

Barbare: “Could you tell those nice uncles and aunts a little rhyme about a red apple, and a big thank you from me?”
“When we didn’t have a fridge, we used to take our food to friends,” Nukri explains. It wasn’t that close by. Now our food isn’t in someone else’s fridge, it’s in our own!”
“I used to think I’d always sleep with my mom until I grew up,” Barbara reflects. “But they brought me such a beautiful bed that now I sleep alone. And feel my brother Nikoloz’s hands, they’re no longer rough and don’t have any sores! We healed him with your ointments and medicines!”
This is just a part of the happy news from the large Mchedlishvili family.
Barbare: “At home, everyone has their own beds with new mattresses.”
Barbare (5-year-old): “It was noisy and fun at our house when you all came. Some uncles were assembling new beds, others were bringing in the fridge. I didn’t know where to run first to watch! And you even gave out bikes from your car. Did you know we ride our Nikoloz on the bike?
Nukri: “We’ll take a short break now and then go again. Afterwards, we’ll take turns giving Nikoloz rides, he wants to join in too.”
– Baby?
Barbare: Yes, he wants to ride too. And he doesn’t even want to get off afterwards. Now his hands and feet don’t itch, the sores are gone, just a little bit left. And his skin is so smooth. Nikoloz is cheerful and interested in everything.
Barbare: “It’s my turn, I’m leaving, bye!”
Mariam (mom): The Fund bought us all the medications we needed, and the baby’s rash is going away. I’m so happy because of you! I wish health and joy to all of you! You’ve fulfilled all my children’s dreams at once.
Barbare: “Nikoloz’s skin is now free of sores, so smooth! And he’s cheerful!”
Barbare: My dream was a tablet. There’s a game on it where you have to dress up dolls, and another game with kittens.
– Have you met anyone who sent you gifts?
Barbare: Yeah! Guests came to visit us. They brought a lot of jams and flour. Mom made sweet pies and cookies for us. We’ve eaten everything already. Mom is friends with this family, they said they’ll come again.
And to those I didn’t meet, pass on a rhyme about a red apple from me (starts reciting). And a big thank you!”
Barbare: “I know you’re not supposed to sit on the washing machine. But just once! While it’s still from the store and has stickers.”
Mariam: Our family received a lot of attention. They wrote to me on messenger, called me, and collected a large amount of money for us. My every morning starts with gratitude to those who helped me. I get up with a wonderful mood, I have more strength and energy, I want to do all the things I have to do. There are our old beds outside. It’s not the things we threw away, but our old life.
Mariam: “It’s not the things we threw away, but our old life.”
Barbare: “This is my fridge – I’ll open it as many times as I want and enjoy something tasty! Before, we used to take food to neighbors across the road.”
I constantly saw my little Alinochka looking sad, my heart squeezed and ached. I understood how much she wanted to dress nicely and have a phone. But now she smiles, and I am infinitely happy. My little one has everything! That’s how my beauty should smile. Thank you!
Mariam: “Look at how my child is glowing! You’ve fulfilled the dreams of all my children!”
When I see my Gabriel and Nukri playing with their bikes and sleeping, exhausted but content, I feel like the happiest mother in the world at that moment!
Children’s beds and their comfortable sleep are yet another dream come true!
Mariam: “My dream of a cozy children’s bedroom has come true!”
Gabriel (4-year-old): “Auntie, I have a car with a driver. See, there’s a little person sitting inside. That’s me, just tiny. I have cars without drivers too; they brought me lots of things!”
Gabriel: “I thought you’d give me one car, but you gave me many. I have a parking lot for cars.”
– Yeah, it really looks like you! You have cool toys! Mariam, what problems could we help solve? And by the way, did the local authorities help?
Mariam: For me, the most important thing right now is to have my husband examined. Not a day goes by without him suffering from severe headaches. Only strong painkillers help. He can’t go out in the sun – he feels bad, a little tired – he feels bad. We were told to go to the capital. The examination of his head costs around 400 lari.
Oh, we can’t expect anything from the authorities…
May I share my lifelong dream with you? Perhaps it will come true someday? How I wish we had our own dairy products – milk, cheese, yogurt… To have our own cow. It would be daily support for our large family.
We are grateful for everything people have done for us. I start every morning with gratitude and prayers for your health! Such support is something a person can only dream of! I am proud and happy to have such attentive, sympathetic, and noble compatriots in Georgia and abroad.
It’s so heartwarming to see more happy people in Georgia! This is what your help and support can achieve! Well, this joy may be short-lived, but here and now it exists! And it is your merit!
