Beka himself can’t work, and his poor mother doesn’t have the money for a prosthetic leg. Without it, navigating stairs is a challenge. He often falls, and there’s no one around to lend a hand to help him up. It’s really embarrassing for him to have to rely on strangers to get up, like a cripple! Imagine trying to go downstairs without a prosthetic, sometimes falling, in a house without an elevator! And after one of those falls, he might not even be able to get up! The staircase is steep! While his peers are out enjoying themselves, making friends, falling in love, and planning their futures, he spends entire days by the window! But for him, the world outside is daunting, harsh, and colorless: “What do I see in the future? There’s nothing there, just emptiness, total despair.” Nino (Beka’s mother): “My son was only 24 when he had a severe heart attack. The surgery lasted 9 hours. And now, he has diabetes. Then came the gangrene, and now my dear boy is without a leg!”

Nino (Beka’s mother): “My son was only 24 when he had a severe heart attack. The surgery lasted 9 hours. And now, he has diabetes. Then came the gangrene, and now my dear boy is without a leg!”
And yet, he’s such a handsome young man! And his temper is truly angelic! He embodies kindness itself! Everyone in our neighborhood knows it! Just look into my son’s eyes! They hold so much pain and sadness! And yet, he’s incredibly kind and caring!
At his age, boys like him are out hiking, traveling, riding horses, falling in love, getting married, and starting families! But poor Beka Tetunashvili struggles just to move from one room to another.
Beka (32 years old): How many dreams I’ve had, how many goals! How many goals I needed to achieve in life! What will the end of my life be like? Oh God, what awaits me? Can you answer me? (Addressing the correspondent.)
– Hope, Beka! We’re in Georgia!
Nino Bichiashvili (Beka’s mother): My son was 24 years old when he had a severe heart attack. The surgery lasted 9 hours. Two years later, he developed diabetes. Then he developed gangrene, and eventually, his leg was amputated. All the troubles came crashing down on my son. However, he has always been very kind, the whole village knows that.
Why are we being punished like this? Beka’s father died 16 years ago, at a time when the boy needed his father the most. Merciless fate seems determined to heap one tragedy after another upon my poor son, as if becoming an orphan weren’t already burden enough for him.
Beka has been without a leg for so many years now. And you know why I couldn’t get him a prosthetic? Because I don’t have the money. Because of this cursed money, my son can only dream about a prosthetic. And without it, he falls here and there. As a result, a few days ago, he fell and hit his head on the edge of the table.
That’s how I see my son suffering every day. Do you know what happens to a mother’s heart in such moments? It tears apart and bleeds. Yes, my heart bleeds. I’m not even talking about the money for the prosthetic anymore. Right now, my biggest concern is that I can’t take him to a cardiologist. After the heart attack, he has such sharp pains in his chest that he loses consciousness. After the surgery, he needed constant treatment. He needs 400-500 lari monthly for medications. Where can I get such money? Am I supposed to start stealing?
I’m a widow, I have no income. I can’t work because there’s no one to take care of my son. I don’t even have money for food. Despite all this, I don’t even have the status of being socially disadvantaged. Where is the justice, people?! I don’t even have money for the trip to take Beka to the clinic in Tbilisi. We’re already late for the examination and treatment of his heart. Because of poverty, my son will die. Kind people, please, take the widow’s plea close to your heart. Please, save my son!
“Look into the eyes of my Beka! You cannot help but love him! In his eyes lies all the pain and kindness of the world. I see them every single day, and I fear I won’t survive if his heart, burdened by sorrow and humiliation, stops beating forever one of these days! His father passed away 16 years ago, and now we are alone in the world, without money, without hope!”
“My heart weeps bloody tears!”
Nino Bichiashvili: Today, the world has developed the most advanced, comfortable, and beautiful prosthetics that would allow Beka to marry, to be happy, and to bless me with his continuation – children whom I fear I may never see!
Hear me, hear the words of a mother! The Lord loves kind people! Beka himself will never ask for anything. But do not leave him without hope! If we stand together, the Lord will surely work a miracle! Forgive me, forgive my tears!
Such a prosthesis is not visible under trousers! It makes a person fully functional, but it is, of course, expensive! (https://youtu.be/9587O7mNM5w)
Mothers, fathers, young and old people! I address all of you who are reading this article. I am sure that your heart is crying right now. May God protect the health of your children, for no one knows what life will bring them. Beka used to have two legs and a healthy heart too. Just one second can ruin a man’s life. Just one second can take away a man’s dreams. Just one second can kill a person or condemn them to a lifetime of suffering.
At the same time, let us remember that only kindness can restore what is destroyed. Only kindness can replace darkness with light. Friends, only kindness can soften a heart torn by pain. Let us together build a bridge of hope for this boy.
If you are willing to visit the family and help Beka in person, here is his address: Kareli Municipality, village Agara.
