Dear readers, how many people do you know in Georgia who have lost their only child, become widows, lost a leg, and are now homeless? This poor woman has no one left but a cat. If even the cat won’t leave her side, then how can we, as human beings, not stretch out a helping hand to someone in such deep trouble? If we could just build a small ramp beside the staircase, Nana’s suffering would ease. She could use her wheelchair to get outside, sit in the sun, and breathe the fresh morning air. But for now, she is trapped in her dark room because she physically can’t get down the stairs.
None of us knows what tomorrow will bring. Life works like a boomerang: what we give is what we get. The day will come when we all stand before the Lord. What answer will we give? How will we justify ourselves? You don’t need to be rich to extend a helping hand to someone in despair. All you need is a kind heart.

0901200270This story is worse than a tragedy. A woman sold her home to send her only son abroad for treatment in France. There, he fully recovered from a terrible disease and returned to his hometown of Sagarejo. But it’s true what they say – you can’t fight fate: the recovered young man was hit by a car and died. Since then, his poor mother has become a “living dead”. She lost her home, her leg is amputated and now she lives in a single room of a crumbling abandoned building.

Nana’s leg was amputated above the hip.
In 1975, 16-year-old Nana was hit by a car. Her classmate, who was standing next to her, died on the spot. She miraculously survived. But, sadly, her leg had to be amputated. The bright life of a 16-year-old girl turned into darkness in an instant…
Years passed. Nana grew up and learned to live with one leg. Life brought her many hardships, much sorrow and disappointment. At times, she found herself questioning the injustice of life, but being a God-fearing woman, she would immediately ask the Lord for forgiveness for such thoughts. At 26, she got married. The happiest moment of Nana’s life was the birth of her son.
Who would have thought that her son would follow the same tragic path – but with one crucial difference: when Leri was hit by a car, his heart stopped forever.
After undergoing treatment in France for a serious illness, Nana’s son returned to his hometown of Sagarejo. But it’s true what they say—you can’t fight fate: the young man, fully recovered, was hit by a car and killed. Leri Kaidarashvili, a 34-year-old man full of life, now lies in the ground – because of a reckless driver.
His poor mother has been left completely alone in this world. Nana’s husband died in August 2008, when a Russian bomb exploded in the yard of their home during the war.
Dear readers, as we’ve already told you, Nana sold her house to send her only son abroad for treatment. She sold everything she had – jewelry, dishes, furniture – anything to help Leri beat the cruel disease. And in the end, her heroic battle for her son’s health paid off. But the joy of his recovery, sadly, was short-lived… Her son died, and Nana had to bury him with her own hands.
Even stones would weep at the sight of a mother who has lost her child.
Now homeless, the poor woman lives in a single room of an abandoned building. Its walls are half-collapsed, and the windows are shattered. Nana is a first-degree disability pensioner. She doesn’t even have the bare essentials—like a washing machine. You can imagine how much she suffers, having to wash everything by hand. There’s no television, no refrigerator, no water heater.
Nana (66 years old): “What is the point of my life after my son’s death? But I cannot take my own life. That’s a sin before God. And if I do that, I’ll never be reunited with my son in the Kingdom of Heaven. Still, I live in such conditions that I feel the day of my end must be near. I can’t get down the stairs and am forced to sit all day in this awful room – surrounded by darkness, emptiness, hopelessness, and the smell of death.”
Nana: “I don’t even have a television to keep me sane in this loneliness. Behind this building is an open area where snakes roam. I’m terrified they might come in through the broken door, but I have no money to repair it… I can’t sleep at night from fear. Is this what life is supposed to be? Even a stray dog couldn’t survive in these conditions.”
Nana: “Three times a month, I force myself to go outside—I put a pillow on the steps and crawl down. There’s no one here. I feel like I’m the character in a horror movie, the last person left alive.”
Nana: “My only friend and hope is my cat. My son raised him. After Leri died, the cat stopped eating. Since the day of the funeral, he hasn’t left my side for a moment. He can’t speak, but his eyes say it all: ‘I won’t leave you.’”
