Her son, Pridon, is 60 years old. He has insulin-dependent diabetes, during his service in the Army he suffered serious brain damage. He mostly gets around in a wheelchair! Sometimes he tries to walk, but it’s quite hard for him. His speech is slurred. And what’s hardest to bear – he sometimes becomes severely aggressive. He’s a Group 2 disabled person, and he likely doesn’t realize that around his mother, not only should he never raise his voice – he should barely even breathe. If something happens to his mother, his life will end in an instant. Because his 85-year-old mother suffers from atrial fibrillation and dangerously high blood pressure.
They live in heartbreaking poverty, in complete disrepair, inside a rusty old train carriage. There’s no one to help them but us, friends.
Dear donors,
During a meeting at the foundation, we decided to purchase medications, groceries, beds, a washing machine, a gas stove, an electrical kettle, a bread-maker, chairs, drawer, telephone. To install windows and doors.
We’re turning to you for advice – your opinion matters to us. Please let us know in the comments if there’s anything we’ve overlooked that could help improve the life of the Shekildze family.

0901200270We wouldn’t wish a life like this, even on our worst enemies. An 85-year-old mother, so frail and hunched she’s nearly bent to the ground, ready to die a thousand times – but never leave her sick, 60-year-old son behind

One day, friends, we’ll build monuments to mothers with hearts like hers!
Her son, Pridon, is 60 years old. He has insulin-dependent diabetes, during his service in the Army he suffered serious brain damage. He mostly gets around in a wheelchair! They live in heartbreaking poverty, in complete disrepair, inside a rusty old train carriage. There’s no one to help them but us, friends.
Lali (85): “Pridon’s brain was damaged while he was in the army. He’s completely helpless. He can barely walk even with a walker. He has diabetes, and we can’t afford the medication. I’m scared for my boy – if he doesn’t take his medication, he could fall into a coma. The doctors have brought him back from the brink several times.”
There’s no love stronger than a mother’s love for her child. And here is a living, breathing example of that.
God works in mysterious ways, friends! Lali once walked tall and proud. Now her back is bent, and her head hangs low to the ground.
Lali: “I can hardly walk myself, my dear. I have a severe form of arrhythmia, and I’m supposed to be in the hospital right now. But I can’t leave my son alone.”
Lali: “If I die… who will care for my son? He won’t survive without me.”
Lali: “We lost our home in a fire – it destroyed everything we had. As fire victims, the government gave us this train car, and we’ve been living in it ever since. The roof has long since rotted through and now leaks. We stuff huge holes in the ceiling with plastic sheeting. When it rains, water pours in like we’re standing outside.”
Lali’s husband had started building a new house on the site of their burned-down one – but sadly, he died in 2015 before it could be finished. Lali and her son never managed to move in. They stay in the small carriage to save on heating costs.
Lali: “I wouldn’t wish a life like mine on anyone. I don’t even have a gas stove to cook on, or a washing machine. Thank God for kind neighbors who share food with us and help wash our clothes. But how long can we keep asking them for help?”
Friends, life is short. Hurry to do good together with the Chernovetskyi Fund. God is giving us a chance to help a selfless mother who gave her life – every bit of it – for her ailing son. Do a good deed. Relieve this poor woman of her suffering.
