0901200270Here is another heartbreaking story of our deeply unfortunate and ailing compatriots, friends! These dignified citizens of Georgia are on the verge of becoming homeless! And the terrible diseases of old age, coupled with the emotional pain of injustice, are about to claim their lives in a tormenting death! Become their family! Spiritually, they are better than us… Less sinful and demanding! They have never harmed anyone in their lives. Now, we are their only hope! We still have a long way to go before strangers speak of us in such terms!

May God grant us all such children! Bless him, Lord. Fifty-year-old, nearly blind Alexander sits by his gravely ill 80-year-old mother’s bedside around the clock. He tenderly holds the hand of the one who gave him life and always loved him! His poor mother’s legs have given out. Alexander carries her just as she carried him from the maternity ward! They’ve become one: now Mama is an adult child, and he is – for her – every new minute of life! Without him, death would come immediately!
Vera (80 years old): “My legs hurt terribly. Without my son’s help, I can’t walk! My poor boy is worn out with me! He washes clothes, cooks, gives me leg massages, and takes me for walks.”
Vera: “For several days, we didn’t even have bread at home, and we went to bed hungry. We only drank water! We have no money for food, medicine, or diapers. But the main problem is: if we don’t pay 500 Lari for rent this month, we’ll end up on the street! We have nowhere to go! I hope kind people will help us when they learn about our misfortune.”
Alexander (50 years old): “I’m visually impaired. I was born blind. As a child, I underwent two surgeries. Both my lenses were removed. As a result, I still can barely see with one eye, and to see with the other, I wear +13 glasses.”
Imagine what it’s like for a nearly blind man to care for a bedridden patient! Lord, bless a son’s love!
Grandma Vera is originally from Ukraine. Fifty-seven years ago, she married a Georgian man who brought her to Tbilisi. Vera loved Georgia with all her heart and has lived here ever since. Trials, and significant ones at that, began immediately after her husband’s death! Mother and son were left homeless. They had to live in a social shelter.
Alexander: “When Mama fell ill, the shelter suggested transferring her to a palliative care unit, but I won’t let that happen! Ninety-five percent of patients sent there go straight to the cemetery! I can handle everything myself; I can care for my sick mother and manage all the household chores.”
Alexander: “I rented an apartment with our last money. But my disability pension and social allowance of 120 Lari aren’t enough to cover housing. Because of my poor eyesight, I can’t find work. I’m not allowed to lift heavy things.”
Alexander: “Mama is the only one I have. And there’s been no one else who loved me as she did in my life! She’s the only one I truly love and who loves me. I won’t abandon her. And as long as I have the strength, I will care for her.”
Friends, imagine Vera is your mother, and she needs immediate help! How would you act?
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tbilisi, 3 Saperavi Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that the Lord has turned your heart toward someone else’s sorrow. That He is answering their prayers through you. That means you are chosen. May you always be blessed. And please—keep remembering those who suffer. Go visit them. That’s where you’ll discover your true worth – as a true Georgian, a great human being, just as the Lord created us to be.
