For 10-year-old Andria, every day is a living nightmare. The child, confined to a wheelchair, watches from the window as other children play – and cries bitter tears because he can’t run with them. Andria was just five when he lost his father. Since then, his mother hasn’t been able to take him to a doctor even once – because his father was the sole breadwinner. His widowed mother can’t work – there’s no one to care for Andria and his sister Monika, who became permanently disabled due to a tragic medical mistake. It’s as if the Beridze family is cursed. But good always triumphs over evil. So please, kind people – only you can help them escape this torment. Other children steer toy cars with remote controls. Andria steers a terrifying wheelchair. Was this angel really born only to suffer? What did he do to deserve this?
Why has fate burdened him with so much pain?

Andria was born with diagnoses that chill the blood: spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Doctors gave his parents no hope that he would survive. But then – a miracle happened.

Andria, 10-year-old: “It breaks my heart that I can’t walk. I just want to stand on my own two feet. But my mom doesn’t have money for doctors. Kind people – I know you’re out there. Please help us.”

When he was just one month old, he underwent an extremely complex brain surgery – shunt placement. But now, dear friends, there’s trouble – the shunt implanted in infancy can no longer do its job. He urgently needs medical tests – but his mother doesn’t even have money for food. She’s overwhelmed with fear. The last time she took her son to the doctor was five years ago – when her husband was still alive. If we don’t help now, Andria may soon be confined to bed for life.

And we’ll never forgive ourselves for the pain of Andria and Khatuna! Those kind eyes of Andria’s – they seem to look straight into our souls from his photo. He’s begging for help. He knows it’s possible. If only we could overcome the family’s crushing poverty – at least for a while – and cover the bill from the Turkish clinic!

Khatuna (52-year-old): “At night I sit beside his bed, listening to every breath – afraid I might miss the slightest sign of trouble. My heart stops at the thought of waking up and not seeing his smile.”

Khatuna: “I’m pleading with everyone who can help – please don’t abandon us. My son is in critical condition.  He’s developed gangrene. That means there’s a serious risk of amputation. Please help save him!” Dear friends, we have terrible news: Andria has developed gangrene.
And you understand what that means.  Yes, there’s a real risk he could lose his leg.  We have very, very little time to prevent this tragedy.  Andria needs to see a doctor immediately – or we may soon see a child with only one leg in a wheelchair. And if that happens, we’ll regret forever that we didn’t reach out when we could. And the weight of that regret will stay with us forever.

13-year-old Gega from Batumi doesn’t know what childhood feels like. He had to grow up far too soon. After his father died, Gega became the man of the house – taking care of his little brother and sister, who are both disabled and wheelchair-bound, as well as his gravely ill mother, who has insulin-dependent diabetes.

Gega, 13: “Other kids have happy childhoods – we don’t have any joy in our lives. Our beloved dad died five years ago. And a year ago, our older brother died of a blood clot. There’s no one left to help our mom.”

This is Monika, Andria’s sister. She was born perfectly healthy. But when she was just two months old, she was hospitalized and paralyzed after a routine vaccination. Her mother believes the doctors either used the wrong vaccine – or administered it incorrectly. But the fact remains: this little girl’s chance at a full life was taken from her.

Doctors, doctors… If this had happened in Europe, the case would have been investigated! And Georgia’s law doesn’t prohibit that either.

We call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate this case: Was the vaccine the correct one? Was it expired? Where are the clinic’s medical reports? Is it normal for a very poor family to have two disabled children out of three? It’s time for answers.

Khatuna: “People, I beg you – please help us. There’s nothing more terrifying than the illness of a child. I would give my life if it meant they’d never cry from pain again.” – Andria’s mother appeals to all of us.

Dear donors! In these sacred days of the Apostles’ Fast, when hearts are open to mercy and good deeds – your support means more than ever. Right now, the fate of little Andria depends on you. May your kindness shine a light into his life – and may your compassion bring blessings to you and your loved ones. No one knows what tomorrow holds for our children who are perfectly healthy today. We don’t even know if we’ll wake up tomorrow.  So, every morning, when you open your eyes – thank God.

And the best way to show that gratitude? Help children in need!
