Ekaterina’s condition in Georgia was deteriorating rapidly. Not long ago, she was transported to Israel, to one of the world’s leading oncology clinics. Being on the Holy Land gives this little angel the strength to keep fighting for her life.

Leading clinics around the world refused to take Ekaterina’s case, as there was no established treatment protocol for such a rare diagnosis. As I mentioned earlier, no other child in the world has ever been diagnosed with this type of tumor. Only the Israeli clinic agreed to accept her.

After thorough examinations, they took full responsibility for trying to save her life. May God bless them!

It took tremendous effort from the Chernovetskyi Fund and our friends to make her transfer to Israel possible. Ekaterina’s mother sincerely thanks everyone and prays not only for her daughter’s recovery but also for each and every one of you.

Tea, 45 years old (Ekaterina’s mother): “When I had lost all hope and was preparing myself for my child’s death, it was then that the Chernovetskyi Fund came to me – truly sent by God. Here, they don’t treat patients based on how much they can pay – everyone is treated equally, and that’s how it should be! For Israeli citizens, life here is almost like true equality – almost like communism. Sometimes, when I go to a concert or sit in a café, I can’t help but remember the Soviet Union – it’s very moving.

Most importantly, the hospital has the most advanced equipment in the world. Sadly, for non-citizens the treatment costs are extremely high – whether you’re French, American, Georgian, or Arab, the prices are the same. But here, human life is valued above all else. If a doctor makes a mistake — he goes to prison. No room for negligence!

So… there’s no other choice. In the coming days, I’ll go to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – the most sacred and beautiful church dedicated to Jesus in the world. I’ll pray there and beg for a miracle.

By the way, there are many nuns who pray for the friends of our Fund. They place notes in the Wailing Wall, as everyone does. Even the Presidents of the United States put their prayers there!
It’s a wonderful place. I always feel at peace after visiting a church. If I still have the strength – I’d love to show you Israel someday. It’s a great country, truly created for people.”

Only 4 people in the entire world suffer from this illness. Astroblastoma glioma — an extremely rare malignant brain tumor.

Doctors in Israel have promised to save this poor child’s life! But the clinic needs about $50,000 to begin treatment.

Ekaterina’s carefree childhood ended in 2023. She suddenly started vomiting, stopped eating, and dark patches appeared on her head. Since the age of six, she has barely seen sunlight and has spent her life in hospital. The pain never leaves her, not even for a single day. In Turkey, surgeons removed a 7-centimeter malignant tumor from her head.

She then underwent courses of chemotherapy and radiation.

Just when her mother began to hope, the unthinkable happened – the cancer returned only 9 months later. Even the leading clinic in Turkey could do nothing.

When her mother heard the news, she nearly lost consciousness. They reached out to clinics across Europe – Germany, Spain, Italy, and more. But every clinic refused. The reason? This specific tumor – astroblastoma glioma MN1 – had never before been diagnosed in a child. Ekaterina is the first. Among adults, only four cases exist worldwide. No hospital has a treatment protocol for it.

Every night, her mother lay awake, waiting every minute, every second, for her daughter’s death. Then, after two months of waiting, a miracle: a message arrived from Israel.

The mother’s happiness was indescribable… but it lasted only an hour. The treatment costs $50,000. The Ministry of Health covers only $10,000. Where can this poor woman find the remaining $40,000? Ekaterina’s father is disabled. Her grandmother is a pensioner.

And the family also has 6-year-old Mariam, whose own childhood has been stolen, because every coin is being saved for her sister. Six-year-old Mariam is a bright little girl. She feels the great sorrow that hangs over their home, and that’s why she doesn’t ask for a chocolate bar or a pretty Barbie doll. She understands that Ekaterine cannot play, and so Mariam doesn’t play either.  This year, she is supposed to start school, but she doesn’t ask her mother to buy her a uniform or shoes.

Mariam (6 years old): “Auntie, before you came, Mommy told me you are here to help Ekaterina, and that if I make noise or behave badly, you won’t help. I was quiet, I was obedient… so will you help my sister, so we can take her to Israel? Auntie, I have one question… is Israel far? I ride my bike very well. Maybe I can take Ekaterina there myself?”

When I heard this question, I was reminded once again that children truly are angels sent from heaven.  We adults think we are the ones teaching them… but in reality, they are teaching us – above all, teaching us love, kindness, and blind faith in God.

Tea, 45 (Ekaterina’s mother): “You may imagine the suffering of mothers whose children are diagnosed with cancer. But you cannot possibly imagine the pain of a mother whose child has been diagnosed not just with cancer, but with a kind that no other child in the world has ever had. Each day shortens the life of my poor girl.“

Tea: “Before 2023, I loved summer evenings, sunsets, and the stars that followed. Now I hate them. Do you know why? Because every sunset reminds me that another day has been stolen from my daughter’s life…”

My God, is the earth really about to swallow this tiny angel’s body? Won’t the gravedigger’s hand tremble as he digs the ground? Can flowers even grow on soil so burdened with sin and injustice? Can they… can they…?For years, Ekaterina’s mother has sung in the Sameba Cathedral choir. She dedicated her life to God and raised her children in the same faith. Perhaps Satan himself could not endure such devotion, and sent this trial upon the Osikmishvili family. Yet, despite everything, her faith in God has not weakened – it has only grown stronger.

Tea: “My daughter is dying before my eyes, and I am powerless. The doctors in Israel are ready to fight for her life – but we are not ready. And you know why? Because we don’t have enough paper – money.”
