Nine-year-old Anita is a beautiful girl who wants to live! “I want to walk and run like all the other children… Will I be able to?” She asks me this in a way that brings tears to my eyes. Every night, Anita cries from pain and dreams of taking her first steps. Without urgent surgery, this little angel may remain confined to a wheelchair forever.

Anita, 9-year-old: “I often wake up at night and cry. Mom asks me, “Why are you crying, sweetheart?” And I tell her, ‘I want to walk and run like all the other children… Will I be able to?’”
Anita cannot take a single step without help. Her mother lives every day with a pain that words cannot describe – watching her child suffer and feeling powerless to help.
Anita is not just confined to a wheelchair – she suffers from constant pain. And the most frightening part? Time is working against her. As she grows, her bones are strengthening, and if surgery is not performed right now, Anita may be confined to a wheelchair for life.
Her story began with a fight for life. Anita was born six months premature. She was immediately taken to the ICU and placed in an incubator. Her mother visited her every day, praying for only one thing — that her daughter would survive.
And God heard her prayers.
Six months later, it became clear: Anita was developmentally delayed. She could not hold her head, roll over, or reach for toys. Doctors said, “She’s premature. Wait.” But a miracle did not happen – the girl was diagnosed with brain damage.
Anna, 35 (Anita’s mother): “After Anita was born, my husband and I divorced. I am raising her alone. I will not give up! Today, Anita has completed dozens of rehabilitation courses. All this hard work has yielded results These efforts have made a difference. She is now in third grade, loves drawing, and speaks three languages.”
Anita has a real chance to stand on her own feet. At the end of January, a surgeon from Germany will come to Georgia, ready to perform a life-changing surgery. The cost is 8,500 lari. Without the support of kind-hearted friends of the Fund, her mother cannot afford the surgery – and our little girl will miss the chance at treatment.
Anita, 9 years old: “Please help me, kind people, so I can stand on my own feet! I dream of learning to walk! I need this surgery for that. But my mother cannot pay for it!” 
Anita, 9 years old: “My grandfather gives me 20 tetri from his pension. I put it in my little piggy bank and save money for the surgery.”

Anita was born at six months premature, and it soon became clear that she would not be able to walk. For nine years, every day of Anita’s life began and ended in pain.
But today, thanks to you, her day begins with a smile and hope.
Before, Anita could not even straighten her arms and legs – her muscles were locked in rock-hard spasms. A surgery in January helped remove these “shackles”: doctors fixed her bones with screws and released the tightened muscle tissue. Now her arms and legs move freely.
But for this freedom not to be lost, she needs rehabilitation. It is fully supported by the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund. Every day, for 1.5 hours, a rehabilitation therapist fights alongside Anita for every single movement.
Anita: “I know that kind people from the Fund sent me here. I want to get out of my wheelchair and walk with my friends on my own. Today I managed to lift my body another 1 cm. Show everyone. Tomorrow I will try even harder!”
