It is a grave sin before God to turn a humble family with many children into beggars. What will they think of us when they grow up? How will they be able to take pride in their homeland?

Sixteen-month-old Shorena cries bitterly from hunger. At the same time, her 7-year-old sister Mariam is chopping firewood (Lord, please don’t let her cut herself), 6-year-old Monika is collecting scrap metal – and if there is none to be found, the sisters and their little brother will remain hungry.
Five-year-old Ilia also tries to help. It’s heartbreaking that he doesn’t understand why snow falls inside his home just as it does outside.
There are four small children in the Lobjanidze family. Little darlings… They will not survive the winter without your help, kind people.
A sick 23-year-old mother and four little angels weakened by hunger asked for nothing. The children looked at me with hope. They had not yet learned how to ask. They feel terribly sorry for their mother. Their greatest sorrow is that their mom cries every single day from grief. And only as I was about to leave did they ask me to tell you that
they have the best mother in the world.

Look into a child’s eyes. They hold an ocean of sadness. This is six-year-old Monika – a little girl with a big heart and eyes filled with pain. Her eyes say it all. What do you see in this little girl’s eyes? Perhaps deep emotional pain…
The skin on her hands is raw and torn from gathering firewood and scrap metal.

Monika, 6-year-old: “Auntie, I collect firewood so Mom can light the stove and my brother and sisters can stay warm. Mom can’t go collect firewood because she’s sick. And her eyesight is so bad that recently she walked straight into a pole. And Dad has such a serious illness that it’s hard for him even to get out of bed. I often see tears in Daddy’s eyes, but he pretends – he says something just got into his eye.”

The stove in this room is lit for only two hours a day, because the family has no money to buy firewood. So the poor little ones try to warm themselves as quickly as they can.

Look at the torn and faded leggings the children are wearing. Their tiny hands and feet freeze from the cold…

With their eyes, these quiet children beg for help – but who hears their pain?

This dangerous, dilapidated house is the only shelter for four small children.

And the tragedy is that it doesn’t even belong to the Lobjanidze family. A desperate mother deprives her four children of a piece of bread to pay the rent.
Lana, 23: “The conditions here are so bad that not even a dog would stay, let alone children. The house shakes in the wind as if there were an earthquake. I’m afraid that one day, my children might be buried under the rubble. I pay 300 lari for rent.
And what does that mean? I’m paying money for something that puts my children’s lives at risk. It’s ironic, isn’t it? But what else can I do? I can’t just send my children to sleep outside.”
Because of the damaged roof, rain and snow come in just like they do outside. Plastic sheets cover the windows.

Look into the children’s eyes. See the fear, the sadness, the pain. Emotional pain… And yet they ask for nothing extravagant. Food, winter clothing, warm blankets, basic furniture and appliances – these aren’t luxuries. They are the bare essentials every person needs to survive.
When I, a reporter for the Chernovetskyi Fund, left the Lobzhanidze home, I noticed something in the children’s eyes alongside their sadness: a spark of hope.
These smart, thoughtful children understood that I would tell the world about their plight. Despite everything, even forgotten by everyone, they still hold onto hope that somewhere, there are people who will open their hearts to these little angels and share their love with them.”
Despite everything, these children still cling to the hope that one day, when they wake up, their lives will be like those of other children. From a young age, they’ve been told stories of how kind their fellow Georgians are!
Despite everything, these poor little ones, abandoned by everyone, wait for you with hope in their hearts, kind people… I beg you, let’s not disappoint them… Let us fill the hearts of these children with warmth and love.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Batumi, 15 Gordeziani Str.
