Doctors gave no hope that the child could be saved. And indeed… Anna-Maria is now fighting for her life.   

Today, the Chernovetskyi Fund shares a story you will never forget.

A drunken man, in a state of intoxication, showed no mercy – neither to the mother of his child nor to his own unborn child. He brutally beat the fragile Fati.

Fati, 33: “I couldn’t run… I didn’t manage to escape. All I could think was: just not the stomach, not the stomach, please don’t hurt the baby. I screamed: kill me. KILL ME!!! Why her… she hasn’t even said her first word yet! But he kept hitting me with his huge, deadly fists – harder and harder each time.”

After that cursed night, everything changed…

Because of the beating, the pain, the stress, and the fear, Fati’s condition worsened during pregnancy.

Doctors managed to save the baby in the womb, but just hours after birth, the little girl began having seizures. And even today, she is still fighting for her life.

Anna-Maria is now 7 years old. From the moment she was born until today, she has suffered terribly: she is paralyzed, completely blind, and the pain from multiple illnesses gives her not a single moment of peace.  The most horrifying part is that her own father took away her chance for a carefree childhood – and, if we do not help, for a happy future.

And now, death itself is trying to take from this little angel the life given to her by God.

Fati, 33: “I don’t know,” she says through tears, “maybe we have months, weeks, or even just hours left… I couldn’t protect my poor daughter during pregnancy, and now, when she is on the edge between life and death, I still cannot protect her without the help of the Fund’s friends. And the only reason is this cursed lack of money.”

Friends, Anna-Maria urgently needs to be transferred to a clinic abroad. Otherwise, her tiny heart may stop forever. She is only 7 years old, and she is fighting for her life with all her strength.

Because of brain damage, she suffers from severe headaches.  Even strong painkillers no longer help. In addition, she is effectively paralyzed. She cannot walk – she cannot even stand for a moment.

 And the most devastating thing is that she has lost sight in both eyes. Although… everything that has happened, and is still happening, is terrible. “My God, if only You could take my life and leave my love, my little girl, my heart alive and healthy…”

And yet, whenever she hears the lullaby “Iavnana,” sung by her mother, her tiny heart calms immediately.

Fati, 33: “Since Anna-Maria was born, I have been living in a rented apartment.

Sometimes I cannot even afford to buy food for her. Because of her condition, she cannot chew properly, so she needs special nutrition. When I cannot buy diapers, I use cloth instead.”
