Life below the poverty line

This family lives beyond the
poverty line. 38-year old Teya Digmelashvili, her old mother and three children
are deprived of simple living conditions; they are often starving and live in
sadness and despair.

These people are cooped up in
one room without a toilet; there is almost no normal furniture, and the walls
with the ceiling seem to have never seen any repair. 

The room where the
Digmelashvili linger out their days is situated in the abandoned premises of
former security agency. 

Teya Digmelashvili, the lonely
mother, brought up three children with pain and misery. 

Anna is now 18, she is
studying to be a stylist; 16-year old Georgiy has graduated from the 9th grade
and then gave up his studies; the youngest girl Varvara is 8; she is often sick
and misses school. 

The thing is that their
dwelling has no heating; the kids sleep on the concrete floor; the walls are
damp and the wind is blowing through the old window frames. Teya and her old
mother are often sick as well. They even cannot afford simple medicines; to
tell nothing of an in-patient facility treatment. 

Being socially unprotected,
this family lives from the tiny social allowance hoping that someone would lend
them a helping hand. 

Dear friends, it is hard to
imagine that someone lives next to us and cannot even afford old beds, goes to
sleep on a concrete floor without undressing, and eats from rusty and cracked
kitchenware.
