REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO GOD!

Death could not defeat him. But now poverty is winning this battle against a tiny child.

Noe was born prematurely. His mother did not even have time to hold her newborn baby before doctors rushed him straight to an intensive care unit.

An open heart valve…

Respiratory failure…

His vital signs were slowly deteriorating.

By a miracle from God, this little angel survived. But his serious health problems have not disappeared.

The most heartbreaking thing is that newborn Noe, together with his three brothers and sisters, may soon have nowhere to live.

The Chkonia family is facing a devastating hardship – they no longer have a home of their own. The mother rented a small container-type room and often went hungry herself just to be able to pay the rent.

The kind and compassionate owner stopped asking them for payment for some time.
But now this container has been put up for sale. And that means that four little angels – three of whom are struggling with serious health problems – may soon be left without a roof over their heads.

This is Barbare. She is one year and eight months old. This blue-eyed little princess may face lifelong disability. She has hip dysplasia – a disorder affecting the musculoskeletal system.

Some medical procedures are covered by the state, but it is not enough. And her mother does not even dare to dream of full treatment for her child.

This teddy bear is the little girl’s faithful friend. During the winter, in their cold and damp room, when she was freezing, Barbare would hug this very teddy bear and fall asleep.

Today, she is no longer cold… But she never leaves her faithful friend behind. This is what true gratitude, given by God, looks like – and it already lives in this little girl’s heart.

Barbare cannot talk yet. But with her tiny fingers, she pointed to her newborn baby brother when I, a journalist from the Chernovetskyi Charity Fund, visited the family. She made a few little sounds in her baby language. And her eyes seemed to be asking for something – not for herself, but for her little brother.

The suffering of the Chkonia family seems to have no end. This is three-year-old Nikoloz. One of his legs is six centimeters shorter than the other.

Just imagine what this little boy has to endure. He can barely walk on his own. He does not know what it means to “play together with other children.”

With those sad eyes, he watches children in the yard playing tag. They run. They laugh. And Nikoloz struggles even to take a single step.

In Ureki, the founder of a children’s rehabilitation center – a kind-hearted woman living in Israel – continues to follow the health of children from disadvantaged families despite the great distance. At her center, these children receive rehabilitation completely free of charge. The Chkonia children are among them.

The Chernovetskyi Fund extends its heartfelt gratitude to this kind-hearted woman and the entire medical team for their invaluable compassion.

The rehabilitation of Barbara and Nikoloz has brought positive results. But all of this may be lost if their treatment does not move to the next stage.  Eventually, we may see this brother and sister in wheelchairs…

with their childhood taken away…

their future taken away…

their dreams taken away…

 their hope taken away…

Can we allow this to happen? Can we really refuse to lend a helping hand to these children?

And if we cannot find even a small place in our hearts for Barbare and Nikoloz, then of course there is no punishment for that in the laws written by people. But when the day comes and we stand before God’s judgment, what will we say to Him?

Friends, our most urgent task right now is to solve the family’s housing crisis, because the deadline for leaving this rented cottage is approaching. There is one piece of good news: The Chkonia family owns a plot of land. If we unite our efforts, we can soon help them purchase a small cottage or a residential container home.

It will not simply be “housing.” It will be a chance at salvation for four little angels.

When I, a journalist from the Fund, was leaving the Chkonia family’s home, my eyes suddenly fell on Barbare’s doll hanging outside on a string to dry in the rain.

The girl’s mother told me, slightly embarrassed, that it was Barbara herself who insisted on drying her favorite doll outside in the rain.

I smiled at her words because I thought it was just an ordinary childhood whim. I left the Chkonia home. My camera was full of photographs. But something inside me would not let me rest. I felt that I had missed the most important picture – the one that never made it into my camera.

The persistent dream and hope of one-year-and-eight-month-old Barbara to dry her doll even in the rain reminded me of the beautiful words of Astrid Lindgren from Pippi Longstocking:

“But it’s raining, Pippi,” said Tommy in surprise. “Who waters flowers when it is raining?”

“I do,” replied Pippi. “Maybe I stayed awake all night dreaming about watering the flowers in the morning, and because of this nasty rain I shouldn’t make my dream come true?”

/ Astrid Lindgren, “Pippi Longstocking”/

I felt ashamed when I remembered that I had smiled at Barbare’s mother’s words. I, a Fund journalist who came to the Chkonia family to help these children, only after leaving their home understood that everything had happened the other way around: It was little Barbara, only one year and eight months old, who had reached out an invisible hand to help me.

I returned to the Chkonia family’s home because I understood: The most important photograph was not in my camera.

“The hope of little Barbara, a sick child, that her beloved doll would dry even in the rain.”

Friends, I will be happy if, during the difficult and hopeless days of your own life, you remember Barbara. A child… who taught us, adults, that even in the middle of a storm, we must still wait for “rays of sunshine and hope.”

BIBLE

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.” (Proverbs 19:17).

To our Lord, there is no such thing as “small” help, just as there is no such thing as “small” compassion or a “small” prayer. To Him, who loves you personally, nothing is ever “too small” if you offer your whole heart in sympathy to the suffering – both in the moment of helping and ever after.

Remember, God cares for your soul above all; He looks for the aid that comes from the very depths of your heart. Give whatever you can, so that you may never look back and regret a heart left cold.

And one more thing… it would be wonderful to stay in touch once they recover: to send them holiday wishes, to remember their birthdays, and to make them your friend. After all, there are so few of us left… and we have always been one family. Every time you reach out to a family in need, you will feel something incredible… as if you have spoken with God Himself! This is your chance to become the happiest person on earth. It is exactly through these steps that lives are truly saved.

Friend, as soon as you feel responsible for another person and his pain, at that very moment you will become a different person – a person close to God!

We are always available.
