If you want to curse a man, just tell him: "I wish your children were sick."
And that's it - he'll be the most miserable person on the planet. "I don't know how I find the strength to live, how I manage not to go crazy.” I think God gives strength to mothers who have sick children. I have two sons and both are sick. Gabriel, 5, and Lasha-Giorgi, 18-month-old. Gabriel has cerebral palsy - he can't move or do anything on his own. Every month we lie in the hospital or in a rehabilitation center, and Lasha-Giorgi, a martyr, has been in an intensive care unit since birth, hooked up to machines. I haven't even taken him in my arms, haven't hugged him. He probably thinks he doesn't have a mother."

- I wouldn't wish what you went through on anybody... Tell me everything in order, please.
Mariam: I don't know who cursed me or my children like that. Gabriel and Lasha-Gorgi are the children of my second marriage. The first time I married, I was just a child. I didn't know what responsibility it was to start a family. But my family broke up after four years, and I was left alone with my baby. There were difficulties, but my mother was always there to help. Now my oldest son is 18 years old, and he supports me a lot even though he lives with his father now.
- When did you start your second family?
Mariam: Six years ago, I met Nodar. He was an acquaintance of a friend of mine, my colleague. We liked each other very much. I knew that Nodar had experienced a great tragedy - his four sons had died at a young age. I was just shocked to hear it. It's a feat to survive such a tragedy and not lose your humanity. And I fell in love with him and wanted to do something to make him feel better... but apparently, he wasn't destined to be a happy father.

- What did you feel when you found out that Gabriel wasn't born healthy?
Mariam: It was a blow for me. I didn't know how to treat him, he was weak, he cried a lot. He was in an intensive care unit for 5 months. He can't walk or eat on his own... he hasn't said a word in five years. But he can express his emotions... He can be rehabilitated. The state finances the course of treatment, but sometimes I don't even have money for transport. Money, money... where to get it from?

- Tell us about Lasha-Giorgi, too.
Mariam: When I start talking about him, I can't hold back tears. He was born to suffer! Now he's 18-month-old, and he's in hospital all the time! I couldn't even get him out of the hospital. Besides cerebral palsy he has a terrible disease. As the doctors explained to me, he has very fragile and brittle "crystal" bones. Any touch can kill him. Now he is lying in the intensive care unit in Tbilisi, and I can't even see him.
- Because of lack of money?
Mariam: Money of course matters, but it's very hard for me to go there with Gabriel. I have no one to leave him with. My mother helped me a lot, but she died in August two months before Lasha-Giorgi was born. And it is almost impossible to travel that distance back and forth with a sick child. I would leave him with someone, but he starts crying and gets sick when he does not see me. That is why I have not seen my baby since February. It's a punishment for me... but what can I do? What to do? Gabriel can at least contact somehow, he can tell me what he likes and what he doesn't like with his sounds. And Lasha-Giorgi can only watch. And not always. His condition is sometimes so severe that he has to be put on life support...
- What is the doctors' prognosis?
Mariam: They don't give me hope that I will ever be able to hold my son in my arms. They tell me - you can take him, but we can't guarantee that you can get him home alive... and he doesn't have long to live anyway... I know that, but how can a mother get used to that?
- What can we do for you and your babies?
Mariam: I have only one request - diapers and food for the children. What else can I ask for? I don't have a home of my own. And even if I had, what can a mother dream of when she has sick children, one of whom is dying? The state finances rehabilitation, but pension and allowance alone are not enough for diapers and special food. My husband takes any job he can get, but these are pennies.

Mariam: God gives me strength every day. The fact that I haven't gone crazy is only His merit. I pray, thanking Him for giving me such special children that I can carry the proud name of Mother of God's Angels. I have one request to all readers - pray for my babies! They need nothing but prayers.

All the words disappeared somewhere ... all the worries became so insignificant ... all the worries lost their meaning. This is real grief, real tragedy. A young mother fighting for the lives of her babies. The hardest thing is that she can’t even hold one of her babies in her arms! People! They need your support! The only things Mariam needs are diapers, special food for children, and medications!
