FREEZING LITTLE TUMMIES OF THREE GEORGIAN CHILDREN! SOS, dear friends! Heavy raindrops falling from the ceiling keep the children awake at night. Winter is coming, and the roof of their shack is about to collapse – right over their heads. We can’t let that happen!
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO GOD!
When I arrived at the Maisuradze family home and saw the quiet conversations between the little ones and their mother, the scene before me was truly heartbreaking. Cold raindrops were falling from the ceiling right on the angelic face of two-year-old Mariam. Five-year-old Lekso was clutching his stomach in pain from hunger. And twelve-year-old Nika, walking to school in torn, worn-out shoes, had soaked his feet so badly he developed a high fever – but he kept silent, not wanting to worry his mother, because his little brother and sister were feeling worse.
“Mama, I’m cold… my feet are all wet, – little Lekso whispered – just before he noticed the journalist from the Chernovetskyi Fund. He blushed, looked down, as if he didn’t want the stranger to hear his words.
“Why are you wet, sweetheart? You’ve been outside?”-the journalist asked.
Lekso lowered his eyes and couldn’t answer. Then his older brother, Nika, spoke softly: “The water drips from the roof and soaks our beds when we sleep. When it rains – we’re always wet…”
Winter is the time when the world feels cold and distant, and all you want is to hide away in a warm home, feel the comfort around you, touch the warmth of the floor with your feet, and let your soul find peace from all worries.
But this family has no such home. Their roof leaks all the time. Their house offers no shelter
– only damp walls, a cold floor, and the smell of mildew. It can hardly be called a home – just three tiny rooms filled with emptiness and chill. Three small children live here, struggling to survive.
Little Mariam stands at the doorway, watching other children play. The little girl is still too young to realize that poverty has stolen her childhood from the very moment she was born – all those bright, colorful moments that make childhood so beautiful.
Nika, Lekso, and Mariam live in a house that is literally falling apart before their eyes.
“When it rains,” says their mother, Nestan, “we just wait for morning. Water drips from the ceiling and runs down the walls. We try not to think about tomorrow. Nika always shields the younger ones with his body so they won’t be afraid”.
Nika is twelve. He was born with brain damage – but his heart has room for everyone around him. He cannot read, but he knows how to love.
He loves the way only children can – with small hands that try to protect everything dear to them.
Look into this child’s eyes – they hold so many emotions at once. As if the boy’s hurt by us, yet still believes in human kindness. As if he’s asking a question with her eyes, but is afraid to hear the answer… As if she trusts us – but still fears being betrayed.
“Sometimes we lie down hungry,” says their mother. “We just lie there quietly…”
The family live on a social allowance of 900 laris per month and Nika’s disability pension of 425 lari. They barely make ends meet. The father and mother earn a little money working in the fields, but it’s hardly enough to feed the children. Anything beyond that is out of the question.
Their home has almost no appliances. They can barely get their old washing machine to work. The refrigerator broke down long ago, and the stove is a thing of the past – the family cooks on a gas cylinder.
Nowadays, no one uses such gas cylinders anymore. They’re dangerous not only for adults but for children as well. But what choice does the mother have? How can she cook for her children when there’s no gas at home? Whenever she connects the gas cylinder, she keeps the children far away until the food is ready.
And when the gas runs out, there are only cold dinners and empty plates.
“Sometimes, when the children fall asleep, I just sit in the dark,” says Nestan,“and listen to the water dripping from the ceiling. – I pray that the house won’t collapse… that my children will live long enough to grow up… that they’ll see the sun – not through cracks, but in its full light.”
And Nika, holding his little brother and sister close, whispers: “I want the rain to stay outside, and for the sun to shine inside our home”.
There’s everything in Nika’s words – fear, faith, love. He learned too early that home isn’t just walls.
Home is the place where, even for a moment, you can feel that what you have is love – and that, in a world full of hardship, there’s at least one corner where you can protect those you hold dear.
Today, this family needs something very simple – a roof that doesn’t leak and walls that keep the warmth inside.
They need their house repaired, a new roof, real beds where the children can sleep without the rain soaking their pillows.
They need a stove to cook hot meals for their children and a refrigerator to store food.
The makeshift oven, pieced together from rusty scraps of metal, is little more than decoration – it neither heats the home nor dries the dampness.
They’re asking for so little – just the chance for their children to live, not merely survive.
Every response from you is a chance for Nika, Lekso, and Mariam to feel, for the first time, that their home can be a place of warmth and safety, not fear.
The Chernovetskyi Fund is raising funds to help the family restore their home, purchase essential items, and give the children a childhood free from cold and tears.
The hands of the old clock on their wall keep ticking… Time moves on – but the childhood of these three angels has stopped.
You can help right now. Your donation, even the smallest one, can become that very ray of sunshine that Nika, Lekso, and little Mariam dream of – a sun that will finally warm their home. The roof must be repaired quickly.
Friends, in the coming days we are launching a new program to support Georgian families forgotten by our homeland. We’ve decided to purchase the first three small but cozy new houses. The cost of each is about $7,000! Join us, friends!
For now, we have announced a tender, since importing such houses from abroad would be too expensive. Fortunately, there are good options available right here in Georgia.

And that’s not all that’s for sale — the most important thing is that we’ve made the first step!
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Kaspi Municipality, village Sasireti.
