Birth of a child with bad
health is enormous stress for parents. You expected joy, and suddenly enormous
problems overwhelmed you. Moreover, you understand that these problems will
stay during all your life. These are not the kind of problems when you need to
have your child operated and he/she will be able to move. No, this is a problem
for the entire life.

7-year old Mariam Darsania
cannot walk. Since she was born she has a number of serious illnesses, and it
is impossible to cure them completely. When her mother Nana was pregnant,
doctors gave an unfavorable diagnosis to the future child and insisted on
artificial abortion. But Nana could not take such a decision; she could not
kill an unborn child and ran away from the clinic…

Today little Mari is a
beautiful little girl who is always smiling; she sings, recites poems, plays
with dolls, but she is unable to walk, she can only crawl on her knees. Her
feet are atrophied… But despite everything she went to school!

The family in which this child
is brought up is poor. They live in a rented apartment as they sold theirs to
make operations for the child with the money they obtained. Tiny social
allowance and non-recurring earnings of her parents hinder them from providing
the girl with the necessary care. And she needs crutches, special shoes, knee
fixators, training machines, as well as medicines and hygiene products.
