“I want to survive and stand on my feet for my children! My little ones need their mom! For God’s sake, help me!” – these were the only words Lika could whisper when I visited her in the hospital. With a tracheostomy tube in her throat, it’s hard for her to speak.
We’re reaching out to all of Georgia! Friends, Lika, the mother of three little ones, needs your help. She’s only 22 years old. In May, while eight months pregnant, she contracted chickenpox.  Complications set in, so that her baby didn’t survive, and both her kidneys failed, and nearly all her vital organs stopped functioning. Just look at what the illness has done to this once beautiful young woman—she’s unrecognizable now! There’s such sorrow in her eyes. Lika lost her fourth child and barely escaped with her own life!

Terrible things are happening, my friends! Eight-year-old Zauri has epilepsy. Can you imagine, the child hasn’t taken any medication for three months!!! Because his poor parents can’t afford either the pills or even food. They live in constant fear now, not knowing when Zauri might start having seizures and collapse dead. On behalf of myself and the Fund, I urge you: let’s give this family the warmth of our hearts and show how people in Georgia support each other, even when they are complete strangers! This is the essence of generosity—helping those you don’t know without expecting thanks in return!

We thank you, Lord, for guiding us to this family, for allowing us to meet your angels in time! It is frightening to imagine what could have happened if we hadn’t arrived in their lives. We would have heard from the news that a large Georgian family was found under the rubble of their own home! Oh, dear! Or they would have died of hunger… The family could have disappeared from the face of the earth, and it wouldn’t have pricked the conscience of those responsible for them at all.

Ten-year-old Venera has no friends. She is sure that she will never have them. Nobody wants to be friends with beggars. “I feel like I’m being avoided. They don’t sit next to me, they don’t want to play with me. They don’t say anything, but they behave in such a way that it hurts here,” – Venera says and puts her hand to her heart.

The gray walls covered with mold got rotten from dampness… Sometimes it seems like that dampness is caused by tears. Because everyone here cries – of pain, hopelessness, helplessness…

“Do you know what hurts the most? When they point a finger at you and laugh, mock you … not even behind your back, they tell you to your face the hurtful words, they call you the janitor’s daughter, a beggar, dirty… Like it’s a shame if a man works as a janitor. My mom sweeps the streets and I don’t think it’s an unworthy job! And when I grow up, even if I become a big, big boss, in spite of bad people, I will take a broom and help her! ” – the saddest brown eyes in the world look at me – two bottomless lakes of tears …
For 12 years, Irma has endured so much ridicule and humiliation from her peers, as no adult could have withstood. Ill-mannered kids keep name-calling her.
