Six-year-old Edo opened the refrigerator.

He stood there for a long time, staring inside, as if hoping food would somehow appear.

But the refrigerator was empty.

“Mommy… I’m hungry.”

Twenty-six-year-old Tea turned away so her son wouldn’t see her tears.

She already knew there was nothing she could say.

She had given the last piece of bread to her children.

Once again, she went to bed hungry herself.

Not long ago, the children’s father was still with them.

He brought home groceries, cooked his favorite lobio, bought the children toys, and laughed with them.

Lung cancer was stronger.

Before he died, he made just one final request:

“Please bring my children to me…”

Tea made it in time.

The children were able to tell their father “I love you” one last time.

Later that same day, his heart stopped.

But their suffering did not end there.

Little Mari has severely enlarged tonsils.

She coughs almost constantly.

Her temperature often rises to 38°C.

When she cries, she struggles to breathe.

The doctors say:

“She needs surgery.”

But her mother cannot even afford the initial medical consultation.

Tea is only twenty-six years old.

She is a widow.

She is raising two young orphaned children.

She has no home of her own.

No stable income.

She has not even been able to obtain social allowance.

After her husband’s death, the only person supporting the family was Tea’s father.

But he, too, passed away in December.

Now they have no one.

No one at all.

This autumn, Edo is supposed to start school.

But his mother already knows she won’t be able to buy him even the simplest school backpack, notebooks, or pencils.

Today, though, she has a more urgent worry:

How will she feed her children tomorrow morning?

This family desperately needs food.

They need a refrigerator and a washing machine.

They need a bed.

Mari needs medication.

But more than anything else, these children need people who will not let them feel that, after losing their father, they have been left completely alone.

Perhaps you can be that person.

Not tomorrow.

Not someday.

But today.

Before Edo walks up to the empty refrigerator once again.
