Giorgi collapsed to the floor. And when the ambulance brought him to the hospital, he fell into a coma for a long three months! Every minute, I was with him, even though the doctors hinted that I was wasting time and money for nothing! But what do I care about the doctors when the Lord was always with me! And I believed in Him, spent everything I had! And Giorgi woke up, but already in Turkey! My son faced death in local hospitals in Georgia over a hundred times, and each time, I faced it with him. This has been our reality for 7 long years, day by day. Those who have lost a child or a loved one will truly understand the depth of my suffering. Georgian doctors kept saying, “No chances.” In my maternal prayers, the Lord told me, “Hold on and be strong.” Finally, after seven years, doctors in Turkey provided an immediate diagnosis and conducted a costly operation. Now, all we need is an expensive ventilator, and unfortunately, we don’t have the means for it.

“I’m a mom! Please, please, do not let my son die again! There’s not much left!”
Inga (Mom): In 2016, my healthy 20-year-old son suddenly felt unwell. “Mom,” he managed to whisper, losing consciousness. – Mommy, help! I’m dy…” And he didn’t get to finish. That’s what my son is like today!
– What was wrong with him, Inga? And how is he now?
Inga: In Georgia his condition kept getting worse. The diagnosis was wrong! During one episode, he even lost his eyesight! We sold everything valuable for treatment, but Giorgi’s condition deteriorated. He lay there, staring at one point with icy eyes, unresponsive to anything. Tubes, big and small, were everywhere… They had to feed my child through the nose. “How did you survive, my poor son?! (Suddenly the crying mother asked herself.) It’s a true miracle! And Turkish doctors made it happen! Now we have every chance of recovery! Giorgi has risen to his feet and can already take a few steps!
“I won’t survive if I end up in the intensive care unit again… I don’t want to go through that hell again and drag my mom there again.”
Inga: I can’t describe in words what happened to me! I fell to my knees and thanked God for giving me my son a second time! When he stood up on his own and took a few steps, it was like his second birth!
“Doctors were already sending me to the other side, but I managed to stand up… I could!
– My God! You’re telling such wonderful things!
Inga: Yes! It’s a real miracle! My son, who spent a year in the intensive care unit receiving powerful treatments and connected to machines, was transported to Turkey by a special vehicle as if on his deathbed. He then returned to his homeland by plane, walking on his own feet. Can you imagine?
– But now Giorgi sits with us and talks. When did his condition start improving?
Inga: It’s a miracle! Turkish doctors did the impossible in three weeks! I don’t know how they managed. I don’t want to say anything bad about our doctors, but the results are evident. Apparently, they have different approaches there.
Giorgi: I was transported from here to Turkey by a mobile resuscitation vehicle. Several times along the way, they had to resuscitate me. No one thought I could withstand the journey; no one believed I could reach Turkey alive, except for my mom. Only she believed in me.
“I had tubes and wires sticking out from everywhere… It’s been three years already, but the scars still haven’t healed.”
Inga: Sometimes, when I told the doctors that Giorgi wouldn’t die, they shrugged and said to me, “Your motherly intuition is failing you. Your son is very sick, and he won’t be able to recover.”
– And what did they do in Turkey that they couldn’t do here?
Giorgi: They got me back on my feet! I don’t know how they did it. Here, they pumped me with drugs, I was confined to bed, and I couldn’t even sit on a chair while my mom changed my clothes, and there they made me walk. It was funny when they told me I had to stand up. They disconnected me from the oxygen machine, taught me to do some exercises, taught me to breathe again, taught me to stand and take steps. And after a few days, I could take a step.
Inga: I can’t describe in words what happened to me! I fell to my knees and thanked God for giving me my son a second time! When he stood up on his own and took a few steps, it was like his second birth!
– Oh my God!
– After you returned from Turkey, didn’t Giorgi’s condition worsen?
Inga: This is where the saddest part begins! It’s like we’re standing on the home stretch, but we can’t move forward towards recovery anymore…
– What do you mean?
Inga: Giorgi needs rehabilitation, special procedures to strengthen his muscles, so that he can stand firmly on his feet. Right now, his condition is unstable; he walks, but fears that his legs won’t hold him, and he might fall. For the final battle, we need money, but there is none at all! Even buying all these sanitation tubes to clean his bronchi doesn’t always work out. And he also needs calorie-rich food, medications… But how can we buy all of this? Our only income is our son’s pension, 340 lari. I’m not yet of pension age, and they disqualified us from getting allowance.
“I can’t leave Giorgi even for ten minutes. The tracheostoma gets clogged, and he can’t breathe. It needs to be cleaned very often.”
– Surviving in our country is not easy even for a healthy person, let alone with such an illness…
Inga: I would work any job, probably could earn for Giorgi’s rehabilitation, but I can’t leave him alone for a minute… His tracheostoma gets clogged, and it needs cleaning every 5-10 minutes. I dream only of one thing, that Giorgi can undergo rehabilitation and that his body strengthens to the point where we can get rid of this nasty thing!
“If it weren’t for my mother’s faith, I would have been gone long ago.”
– As far as I know, people with such a tube in their throat can’t talk or talk very softly, in a whisper… Giorgi, how did you learn to talk?
Giorgi: It happened somewhat naturally after we returned from Turkey. I was sitting in the room, my tube got blocked, and I called my mom. Initially in a whisper, as usual, but then a voice emerged… It felt strange to me. Mom came in as if nothing happened, cleaned the tube, and left. I called her again…
‘You need to cover this hole with your finger and really try to say at least one word,’ they told me.
Inga: And then, when I realized he was speaking loudly, calling me ‘Mom!,’ my legs gave way, I collapsed in front of my son, and tears started flowing… He was crying too… It was an indescribable happiness! Only mothers can understand me. Mothers who have experienced similar sorrows like me!
– I wish you more moments like that! Let’s sum it up. So, you’ve defeated death! You didn’t give up, and now there’s just a little left…
Inga: We haven’t defeated death yet; we’ve just outpaced it. But if we don’t continue moving forward towards recovery, it might catch up with us again, and Giorgi won’t survive another connection to the ventilation machine. We are ahead for now, but death is breathing down our necks. That’s why we reached out to you! God directed us to you. I implore you! My son needs rehabilitation; without it, there’s a high chance we’ll go through that hellish cycle again, with no way out. Please! God gave us a chance; we survived, and now it’s just a matter of a little bit. We need money to undergo the rehabilitation course, and we have absolutely no money left. Sometimes, there isn’t even enough money for food. No money to travel to the clinic, no money for consultations. Please, give my son as a gift, give him life!
“Georgi won the first battle against death, but now his life is in our hands. He won’t survive another coma…”
‘Help those who cannot help themselves’ – these words from the Bible remind us of the importance of kindness and compassion. May the Savior be born in the heart of each of us! Let’s make Georgi’s story a story of triumph over darkness!
