Lali (Mother, 66 years old): “My son nearly died from pneumonia. We spent four and a half months in the hospital, and I never left Mamuka’s side, not for a minute. He was on a ventilator. The doctors advised me to transfer him to a palliative care unit for terminal patients, but I refused” Here we see an example of selfless love and heroism from a simple Georgian woman—a Mother with a capital M. She cries bitterly because of her helplessness, and she’s embarrassed to ask for help, but she has no one else but us. Help Lali save her only son, to whom she has devoted her entire life! Mamuka’s life is in our hands, friends! Each of you can help extend his days!

Lali (Mother, 66 years old): “My son nearly died from pneumonia. We spent four and a half months in the hospital, and I never left Mamuka’s side, not for a minute. He was on a ventilator. The doctors advised me to transfer him to a palliative care unit for terminal patients, but I refused.
I can’t bear the thought of being separated from my only son—I won’t leave him. As long as I’m breathing, we’ll be together!”
Mamuka was born a healthy boy. But at two and a half years old, he suffered from meningoencephalitis. After that, he stopped developing.
This young man has been suffering for thirty-two years now. He has cerebral atrophy. He has epileptic seizures three or more times a day. He can’t sit, walk, or talk. His spine is so severely curved that it’s impossible to turn him onto his other side. Mamuka is on oxygen support; without it, he wouldn’t survive.
“Look at his head and ears: From lying down constantly, Mamuka has developed terrible bedsores, and now they’re infected.”
Lali: “I didn’t realize how hard it would be to care for him at home. Mamuka needs expensive ointments, tubes, filters, and gloves to care for his stoma because he can’t breathe on his own. But where can I get the money? Our income consists of my pension, Mamuka’s disability pension, and social allowance.”
“Mamuka’s legs have stopped extending, and his arms are stuck in one position and don’t move. He needs massages, but I can’t afford them.”
“Mamuka can’t even eat on his own. I feed him through a tube. He needs expensive protein nutrition, but I don’t have the money for it. I’m eating in a social canteen myself.”
“I almost don’t sleep at night because I’m afraid I won’t hear if Mamuka gets worse. He could suffocate from the mucus that builds up.”
Lali: “I have no one to turn to for help! My husband couldn’t bear the sorrow and passed away two years after our son’s illness began. The only family I have left is my younger brother, but he is seriously ill with tuberculosis. I am fighting for my son’s life alone!”
“If something happens to me, who will take care of Mamuka?”
