Like in wartime, the little ones suffer terribly from hunger and loudly recite the Lord’s Prayer, asking God to send them at least a tiny piece of bread! But the most important thing their mother, Sofiko, has taught them to pray for is to stay alive when the roof comes crashing down on their heads! Lord, help them!

Sofiko is raising three children alone after her divorce. She cannot save enough money to fix the holes in the ceiling.
Her children survive on social allowance, but it’s not even enough for food. Their only hope is you, kind-hearted people!
Sofiko, 44 years old (Mother): “I don’t even know what to worry about more—the fact that our house is falling apart or that my children’s health is getting worse. If the roof isn’t repaired, my children will be left homeless. But if I can’t take care of their health and something happens to them… then what’s the point of having a house at all?”

Four-year-old Zuka and seven-year-old Taso met the fund’s correspondent with wash basins in their hands—soaked and shivering. Inside their home, it rained just as heavily as outside.
Taso (7 years old): “Auntie, our house is falling apart. I’m scared the roof will collapse while we’re sleeping!
I’m really scared!”
The children cry from hunger. The only food in the house is a piece of stale bread. For a mother’s heart, this is unbearable.
Zuka, 4 years old: “Today, I will be full! Do you want it? (Turns to the Fund’s correspondent) Do you know how terrible it is to be hungry?! But most of all, I feel sorry for my sister—how does she endure it? Her tummy hurts so much! This is our first and only meal today! And yesterday, we didn’t eat anything at all!”
-Why?
-Because their mother has no way to buy food.
-And what do you usually eat?
-Just plain bread.
Their windows have no glass. It’s warmer outside than inside their home.
Can children really grow up healthy on nothing but bread? Because of constant hunger and malnutrition, Taso has developed health problems. She is suffering from a severe deficiency of vitamin D and calcium. But her mother has no money to take her to the doctor or buy the medicine she needs.
A house from a horror movie! Just look at their roof! It needs urgent repairs before it’s too late…Friends, God forbid a tragedy happens!

Huge water-filled bubbles hang from the ceiling, ready to burst at any moment and flood everything.
Every single day, Sofiko lives in fear that the roof will collapse and her children will be trapped under the rubble.
Sofiko: “I’m grateful to a kind-hearted relative who let us stay in this house. We could never afford rent—we would have ended up on the streets. But should little children have to live in such conditions? If you could help with the repairs, I would be endlessly grateful! May God bless you!”
Sofiko: “I can’t bear to see my children cry from hunger. The stress has given me severe choking fits. And now they’ve found lumps in my breasts and sent me to an oncologist. But I have no money for doctors or medicine. Feeding my children is my priority!
Please help me get examined! I want to live—for my children! Who will take care of them if I’m gone?”
Your kindness can save Sofiko and her children!
