2 seconds of terrible tragedy on the road

  And
five Georgian children are orphans! And their closest relatives besides mother
are hunger, coldness and terrible poverty…

  Nonna
Siboshvili is only 38 years old, and she is already a inconsolable widow with five children in her arms!

  After all,
the ways of God are inscrutable.  And
perhaps this article will help these beautiful children find new dads and moms.
Our investor, Leonid Chernovetskyi, is also an orphan since childhood. And the
good people did not leave him until he was regained his feet: they fed him, put
him to bed, told him fairy tales. My mother was always at work. After the war,
children starved to death. And although there is no war, everything is even
worse…! Now he prays for them every day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEbNw52uG6Y

A year ago, a terrible accident took
away the life of Imeda, her husband and the father of five children. Death
closed the door to a happy future to his four sons: George (14), Temur (12),
Levan (3), Mate (9 months) and long-awaited daughter Mariam (9 months)… In an instant, five children were orphaned.
Now hunger, cold, and poverty are their companions…

14-year-old George is already the head of the family! Like a real
Georgian man, he took this heavy load on his children’s shoulders, to replace the father to his brothers and his
sister, and to become a reliable support for his mother.

We met the family of Sibashvili in a dilapidated house in the village of
Kardenakhi, 108 kilometers from Tbilisi.

– The last year of my life, I trust in the grace of
God.
Often, I faint because of hunger
and fatigue.
Sometimes, I don’t eat for two or three days in a row, so that
there is something to feed the children… But even this is not enough, children
still fall asleep and wake up hungry… – With tears in her eyes, Nonna began
her story.

– We’ve always lived modestly, but after our husband’s
death we’re really starving…  Sometimes
I wonder why I’m alive. It would have been better to have died in that accident
together with Imeda and all the torment would have ended at once… And then, I
look at the kids and understand – they are copies of their father. Imeda looks
at me through their eyes. They need me!

– I’m sorry to ask, but
what happened to your husband?

– Oh, it was such a grief… Even the memory of it is
unbearable!.. In the morning Imeda went to work, and half an hour later they
called me and said that he had crashed in a terrible car accident. He died on
the spot without even realizing what had happened to him… Endless
grief…

The children took the death of their father very hard.
Especially the elder kids. George (14
years old) matured instantly. He feels responsible
for his younger
siblings. His father was an example to him in everything. George even wants to
drop out of school and start working to help me… But I do my best to explain to him that he needs to learn, as dad
wanted him to do.

– How did you continue
your life after the death of your husband?

– When Imeda was alive, he did everything for the
family. He worked seven days a week, although we always lived very modestly. We
rented an apartment in Tbilisi. Actually there is no work in the village at
all…

And after the death of my husband, I couldn’t pay the
rent and I was left literally in the street with my children. Once, at a Sunday
service in the Church, I met a lonely parishioner who took pity on us and
sheltered us in her small apartment on the outskirts of the city. We were very
happy about this too! But very soon we realized that we could not cope with
life in Tbilisi, so I decided to return to my parents’ house in Kandenakhi.

No one has lived here for 7 years. The house has only
two small rooms with bare walls, the roof is leaking, and the door and window
slits are draughty at night… There is no water, no facilities. I bathe the
younger children in a basin, but what should I do with the older ones?

Furniture and appliances are out of the question!
There are no beds for babies. It hurts so much to say it… The twins already
have health problems, and because of this, their spine can deform…

– What’s wrong with the
children’s health?

Twins Mate and Mariam (9 months) have congenital hypertension. If you
deal with the disease now, there will be no problems in the future. We visited
doctors when we lived in Tbilisi. But it takes a lot of money… They need
special care, doctor’s supervision, multiple meals, expensive medications. And
no stress. The latter is especially difficult, because babies feel my pain, and
often torment themselves with crying because of hunger.

And Levan (3 years old) has autism. He has an
inhibited perception, and therefore they do not take him to kindergarten.
Doctors in Tbilisi advised to take him to a special center for preschool
children, where they would be able to teach Levani in both individual and group
classes. But now we are here, far from the capital, and it is stupid to talk
about any centers and classes.

– How much money does
your family have for living?

– We have an allowance of 300 lari… I also get a lot
of help from good people and volunteers. I bring food from the free canteen.
They give out meals once a day. Of course, I can’t give such food to the
babies, but the older ones eat at least something…

– And does any of your
relatives help you?

– My husband came from an orphanage, we were his only
family. My parents passed away early and tragically. They were trapped in the
mine… My grandmother raised me. From a very young age, I realized that in life
you need to rely only on yourself. You should know how many times I tearfully
begged the state for help. I even brought children, wrote a request… I was just
put in line for an apartment… But no one knows if this happy day will ever
come…

– How do the children
study in such terrible conditions?

– A computer and tablet are inaccessible gadgets for
our family. If children need the Internet, they go to their neighbors to avoid
skipping their studies. My boys are drawn to knowledge!

– Are the children
worried about their current situation?

– George (14 years old) and Temur (12 years old) feel
the horror of our situation most of all. They grew up early and took
responsibility for their family… The twins are not yet aware of what awaits
them, and the only dream of Levan (3 years) are toys. He still remembers
playing with the children’s railway at a neighbor’s birthday party. He wants to
hold it in his hands at least once more.

– How do you imagine
their future?

– I hope they will overcome all diseases, have the
opportunity to get a profession, do their favorite thing and make their dreams
come true. I believe that God is on their side. Imeda protects us from there.
That’s why you came to us. He sent you – you are our Angels.

– Please tell us how you
met your future husband. How was your family created?

– I met Imeda in Tbilisi, in 2005. – Nonna finally
smiled… – I came from the village to take exams, and he worked at a
construction site and was on his way home from work. It was pouring rain, and I
was trying to carry my suitcase to the dorm without an umbrella. Imeda ran up
and helped me… A month later, we had a modest wedding… We lived happily for
14 years, gave Georgia five children who will never disgrace the name of their
father…

– Now, if you please, we
will meet your children!

Gio (14 years old)! You,
as the oldest, tell us about the life of the family.

George (14 years old): It’s not easy. But most of all I worry about my mother… She’s hungry
all the time! She refuses to eat, says she’s already had a bite, but I know
she’s afraid we won’t have enough… But, soon everything will change. During the
summer holidays I will work part-time and my mother will not starve!  I would, of course, earn more if we had a
computer – I would perform various tasks over the Internet. This summer, I
first wanted to earn money for a laptop, but changed my mind – I’d rather buy
beds for Mate (9 months) and Mariam (9 months)…

– Do you like learning?

George (14 years old): Yes, I love it, but now it is more important to work. I’m the oldest in
the family now and I have to take care of the others.

– Do you have many
friends?

George (14 years old): I communicate well with all my classmates, but my best friend is my
younger brother! I don’t want him to ever need anything. I always ask my mother
to buy something new for him, not for me! I give him lunch at school… I’ve
been used to taking care of him since I was a kid. I like it when he’s happy…

– Are you often
happy?  Tell me about the best day of
your life?

George (14 years old): I am always happy when my mother does not cry.  We have only one mother, we need to take care
of her!  I try to help her with household
chores: washing dishes, looking after the kids. Sometimes she falls asleep
hugging the twins, and I go over and cover her with a blanket to keep her warm…

The best day was when on the first New Year after the
death of my father, my mother gave toys to Temur and Levani! They were smiling,
and my mother felt that she had performed a miracle! She was glowing with
happiness! I will never forget this day in my life… And I will do anything to
see my mother like this again…

– I’m sure you can do
it! Let me talk to Temur (12) now. Hi, Temur. I want to talk to you a little
bit, are you ready?

Temur (12): A real Georgian is always ready!

– Tell me, do you like
going to school?

Temur (12): Yes, I love to learn!  I have a
friend Lasha, we sit together at the desk. It’s lucky that he lives nearby.
Sometimes, we study at his place. He has the Internet and a computer.  And then, we play the ball on the field,
together with Gio. The three of us are like three Musketeers.

But Gio and I don’t have much free time… I help my
mother with the babies… Gio and I teach Levan to sculpt clay boats and he is
good at it! He makes them, and then he plays like he’s the captain! So funny.

Will you show us your
boats?

Temur (12): unfortunately, we no longer have plasticine… And when we will, Levan
will definitely make one for you and give it to you as a gift!

Would you like to go to
the sea?

Temur (12 years old): Of Course! I can’t swim yet, but I think I could dive!

– Temur, what do you
want to become when you are grown up?

Temur (12 years old): A teacher! I like to communicate with children and teach them new
things. I like to show them that there is a lot of interesting things in the
world! I also want to have a big family!

– Can I talk to Levani?
You have told me so much about him, it is also interesting to meet him
personally!

Temur (12 years old): because of his illness, he is afraid and does not know how to talk to
anyone except me and Gio…

– Nonna, do you believe
that strangers can be good to you?

– Of course I do. Yes, really! This is Georgia! We
have the kindest people! Georgia is our hope! And we believe with all our heart
that the Good exists!

– What can we do for
you, what do you need most?

– I’m sorry to ask for anything, but God knows I have
no other choice… The children need food, medicine for the twins and Levan, any
hygiene products, beds for the babies, maybe some clothes and shoes… If you
help us buy a heater – we will be very grateful! Maybe you can also help the
boys with their studies; a laptop would help them find their way in life…

It’s very difficult to say this, but we really need
all the help we can get… You see everything with your own eyes, how we live…

– Would you like to meet
the friends of the Fund?
