The hateful convulsions, that this poor one has, are so strong that they can break his bones!
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
Just a couple of minutes spent with Vaniko are enough to never forget how he suffers and what terrible pains this little twelve-year-old boy has to endure. Not every adult can endure even a thousandth of such hell! Sometimes this calm, handsome, like an angel, boy strains like a string! His veins bulge, and his muscles tense as if they about to break all his bones. It is very painful… A minute ago, he laid quietly, like an angel, smiling sweetly and purring. And now his arms and legs are twisting, he throws his head back, as if he wants to break his neck. His grandmother presses him to her heart very, very hard so that the boy does not hurt himself.
“You need to press him hard so that he doesn’t hurt himself. Sometimes these convulsions stop, but not for long.
– Poor boy, he suffers so much.
Marine: Vaniko is my little martyr. Since birth, he has not lived a single day without pain. And I suffer along with him. I have lived for 11 years only for him. I had a hard life and a hard childhood. I raised my daughter alone, worked at three jobs, did not sleep at night. I thought, what was I living for? To suffer? And now my grandson appeared in my life – my light and meaning of my life.
– I am sorry for asking that, but where is Vaniko’s mother? Why do you raise him?
Marine: My daughter got married early. She was still a child when her son was born. She became a mother at the age of 17. She had problems with her husband, he drank, beat her. And when my little angel was born, he kicked them both out. She could not take care of her baby, and I took over this mission.
“If you don’t hold him tight, he can just break”
– Where is your daughter now?
Marine: Now she has another family. She gave birth to her second child. I think she will feel the taste and heaviness of motherhood now. Let’s not talk about it, I invited you here not to discuss her, but to show you Vaniko.
– I should have asked. Thanks for the frank conversation. Now let’s talk about Vaniko’s needs.
Marine: The only thing my grandson needs now is diapers, medications, and special liquid food. We only have an allowance and a pension – about 500 lari in total. It is not enough. I can’t go to work. Even when I go out to the store, I pray to the Lord that nothing happens to Vaniko, that he is still alive when I get back home. If he stops breathing, my breathing will stop too. We are so connected to each other. I can’t live without my grandson, he can’t live without me. That’s why every day I beg God to give me as many days of life as the days my Vaniko is destined to live.
“Baby, don’t cry, I am with you. Don’t be afraid, I am with you.
– You carry him in your arms all the time. Perhaps it becomes more and more difficult to do this over the years?
Marine: Before he got ten, things were not so difficult. I could even sit him on my knees. And now his muscles are so deformed that he can no longer sit. You need to press him to your chest, otherwise he takes some unnatural poses. Sometimes I think that he will just break, that I will not be able to “straighten” him. I take care of him as he was a flower. The slightest cold, or fever can kill my boy.
– How do you bathe him?
Marine: I ask our neighbor to help me. She comes and we bathe Vaniko in a basin, right here in the room. I have one dream to have a wheelchair where I can lay my boy and take him out for a walk. We used to have a wheelchair, but he can’t sit there anymore.
It is so difficult to bathe Vaniko. But his granny won’t let him stay dirty
– You only talk about Vaniko. But I see that your back hurts too. You hold it all the time.
Marine: There is nothing to do with me! I do not exist without Vaniko. Do you understand? He’s a piece of me! For ten years he sat on my lap, I listen to his every breath. I can’t get sick – I don’t have the right for that. It will be a betrayal! And I will not betray my grandson. He doesn’t deserve it. I hope that I will not betray him, and he will not betray me and will live. Won’t stop breathing.
“Sometimes I can’t untangle his legs, he twists them like that”
– Don’t cry, Marine How can we alleviate your suffering?
Marine: I won’t ask anything for myself, I only ask for Vaniko. He needs diapers, medications, and porridges. We also need a wheelchair for bedridden patients. I want to ask you about one more thing: I dream of a TV to somehow distract myself. Because we usually lie down and look at each other, as if there is no one but us in the whole world. Eh…
Money is barely enough for food and hygiene products
