There are thousands of unfortunate people like her all over Georgia… These are women who fight cancer with their bare hands, with no funds, without any support. Women who were left alone, and now they have to choose – to be strong and fight to the end or give up and die in agony.

We want you to suffer and die!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

There are thousands of unfortunate people like her all over Georgia… These are women who fight cancer with their bare hands, with no funds, without any support. Women who were left alone, and now they have to choose – to be strong and fight to the end or give up and die in agony.

Good friend of our Foundation! When you feel really bad, open our website https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/ and find this article! God loves you, dear, because you are kind to those who are worse off than you!

For four years now, Maya has not slept at night, groaning from unbearable pain tearing her body apart. She has already had her breast amputated. She was operated on twice, she went through several years of chemotherapy, and it seemed that everything was over, and the disease had receded. For four months, Maya thought that she had beaten the insidious disease, but no… In December, she fell sick again, and this time the tumor decided to “try” her liver. This is the fourth stage!

Maya suffers a lot, especially when she runs out of medications. Because most often she does not have money to buy new ones! She moans so hard that her only 6-year-old son wakes up and cries with her

– Maya, tell us about yourself. When were you diagnosed with your illness?

Maya: Before I got sick, I lived a full life I worked tirelessly to raise my son. My husband left me, he does not even communicate with his child. He never wished him a Happy New Year or a Happy Birthday. Three years ago, I started having pains in my breast. I did not pay attention to that, because I had to work! When the pain became unbearable, I endured. I told myself that I would go to the doctor tomorrow, collect some more money and go to the doctor. But that tomorrow never came. Until my breast bled. So, finally, I went, and they said I had cancer.

– How did you feel when you were told this?

Maya: Do you think I didn’t know that? But being unaware, I thought that everything would just pass me by. Maybe I’ll get lucky… I have no one to rely on. I only have mother, and her leg was amputated. Judge for yourself who should help whom.

“When you find out that you have cancer, the first thing you think about is how your child will live without you? It gives you strength to fight.”

– Did you address anyone for help?

Maya: I applied to the Townhall and to the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Then I still had the strength and I managed to get funding for my treatment. But this time, they cannot cover the entire cost of treatment for me. I was prescribed chemotherapy – once every three weeks. The procedure itself costs 643 GEL, I pay 85 GEL for tests before each therapy. I also need a whole bunch of meds – anti-clotting drugs, painkillers, after-chemo meds, stomach protectors… And where can I – a sick and weak woman – get money for this?! I also have to keep my son. This is an unbearable amount for me.

– Maya, are many people who have the same problems as you do?

Maya: There are thousands of them! There are thousands of us… We are sick with cancer! We are sentenced to a slow and painful death! We have nothing to lose. I’m ready to burn myself alive. Maybe this will help someone in the future? Who will my son be with then? He has no one but me. If not for him, I probably would not have started my treatment.

“My guide to life, my only meaning of life”

– What do you live on?

Maya: I get a social allowance – 60 GEL and a pension – 275 GEL. Here is my entire income. This is even less than half of the amount I need for treatment.

– Does anybody help you? It is impossible to survive with that money, especially when you are sick.

Maya: Kind people sometimes bring us food, and I also go to the social canteen. But I can’t eat the food that I take there. When the doctor prescribed a diet for me, I laughed… Cottage cheese, fish, meat, fruits and vegetables… I’m even afraid to look at that in the store. And when my son asks me to buy him hot lavash bread, I want to die immediately! It’s worse than the pain after chemo. After chemo, my entire body hurts, I have terrible vomiting, convulsions… Sometimes I can even start bleeding from the nose, from the mouth. It’s a real nightmare. But when my son asks me for food, and I say that I don’t have it, that I bought medications with my last money… He says: “Well, okay,” but there are tears in his eyes. He saw so much grief, he suffered so much – my boy.

“When my mother cries, I cry with her”

– Is Giorgi experiencing a lot?

Maya: “Experiencing” is not the right word. I can’t leave him with anyone, so I’m taking him with me to chemotherapy. He is so worried, he says to the doctors: “Don’t torture my mother, let her go.”

– Does the state help you in any manner?

Maya: I got used to the fact that no one needs me, that they always “kick me off”, they don’t notice me. And you came yourself… It’s already so disgusting for me to always be in the position of a beggar. The state says to people like me: “Suffer and die,” but with nicer words. “There are no funds, not taken into account in the budget, we cannot afford your treatment.” If I put my son at their entrance with outstretched hand, and he will cry that his mother is dying, will they feel ashamed? Probably not.

“Make it so that mom doesn’t get sick, and her hair grows faster!”

– You should not fall into despair! If a person sincerely believes in God, then he will certainly overcome all obstacles.

Maya: I keep praying God, I beseech for help. I believe that He will send me relief. I want to live not for myself, but for Giorgi. This is my most cherished dream.

– What you dream about? Do you have any cherished dreams?

Maya: I dream of one thing, so that Giorgi is not abandoned to his fate. What will happen to him if I die? I dream for my pain to subside so that I can become a full-fledged person.

– Maya, you probably think a lot about your life?

Maya: You know, after I got sick, I had a lot of time to think… Before, I did not pay attention to some little things. I didn’t value human relations. Maybe that’s why God punished me. I took everything for granted, and now even one word, even one call means a lot to me!  This gives me the understanding that someone needs me, that I do not live in vain and that my fight against cancer is not in vain!

“Mom says I’m her cure”

– Do you believe that you will get well?

Maya: Sure! Every single second! When I start having bad thoughts that there is no cure for cancer and that I will die anyway, I call Giorgi, hug him, and these terrible thoughts immediately go away.

– What do you value most in a human being?

Maya: Compassion! The ability to empathize and sympathize, the ability to reassure and find the right words. Attentiveness! These are the most important qualities in any person.

– How much money should we raise to ease your suffering?

Maya: One course of chemotherapy with all the tests costs about 800 GEL. I need this amount every three weeks. I need 17 such courses a year. This will give me life! This will give mother to my son! I can say more prayers. I will have time to hug my son more, to enjoy his educational achievements. Mommy’s joy!

“If this auntie brings us a car, I’ll take you for a ride”

– Giorgi, can we talk a little?

Giorgi (6-year-old): No, I don’t want to talk. Let my mother speak for me.

– Well, then tell your mother what you dream about.

Giorgi: Mom, tell this aunt about that car!

– Tell me yourself, and I will write it down and then tell everyone what Giorgi – mommy’s joy – dreams of.

Giorgi: I want a car where I can sit in. I will take my mother to the doctors. Because everything hurts her after the hospital. I also want candy, a football uniform, Snickers, and a Hulk costume. And also… let me think… I want books with fairy tales and shovels to dig in the ground. And make mom’s hair grow!
