Sixty-year-old baker Roman, who fed us, his wife, her 92-year-old father, his daughter, and his sweet six-year-old granddaughter Liza – earning a living through hard work – was suddenly left completely paralyzed! Now he is bedridden, suffering from unbearable pain in his spine. Today, he is the one asking for a piece of bread so that his family can survive and he can receive treatment. He wants to live just “a piece more of life,” to get out of bed again, work, and never again see his father, wife, and daughter go hungry. Stories like this, friends, remind us that we must remain human and never turn away from the terrible tragedies of those around us.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

The baker’s entire family is crying out for help. They’re too proud to beg for bread but watching the man who was once their angel suffer endlessly is more than they can bear.

God works in mysterious ways, my friends. Remember that. And no one will protect us from sudden misfortune if we do not open our hearts to those in pain and keep our faith in the kindness of Georgian hearts.

At our foundation, we work hard, and it wasn’t easy to inspire our friends to care for one another. But now Roman’s life – and the life of his family – depends only on our help. We are grateful to Roman for not losing his faith in the goodness of the people of his beloved Georgia. We are his only hope.

From the early morning, while everyone was still asleep, Roman would already be standing at the oven. The warmth of the bread heated his hands, and its aroma filled the streets. Everyone in the neighborhood knew his bread was the most delicious.

Roman Lomidzé is 60 years old. A baker, husband, father, grandfather – a man who fed others so they would have bread on their table.

One day, as always, he came home from work, had dinner with his family, went to bed… and in the morning, he could no longer get up.

Salome, daughter: “Our beloved father worked all his life – he baked bread. For him, it wasn’t just a job, but love and joy. You would never see him sitting idle. He was always full of energy, always moving, kind, honest, and a warm-hearted grandfather.”

Doctors gave him a terrible diagnosis: spinal cord myelitis – inflammation and infection of the spine. He had emergency surgery: destroyed vertebrae were removed, the abscess was cleaned, and pus drained from the spinal canal. The doctors saved his life – but not his health.

Today Roman can only slightly move his arms and a little his legs. Every day he suffers severe pain but does not lose hope.

“I don’t want to be a burden to my family. I want to walk again, hug my children, and take my granddaughter to school,” he says quietly.

His family consists of his wife Tamar, who is fighting for her husband; her elderly father, who is 92; his daughter Salome; and six-year-old Liza. Their only income is social allowance and pensions – just over 1,200 lari per month.

Salome, daughter: “It’s very hard when your beloved father looks at you, and you can’t do anything… Today, we are relying only on kind people who will help us get our dad back on his feet.”

Roman has a chance to recover, but he needs an intensive rehabilitation program: hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and leg stimulation. Every day of treatment is one more step toward standing again. But each day in the clinic costs between 175 and 250 lari – money the family simply doesn’t have. They are turning to us because we are their last hope.

Every day of treatment is a step toward Roman once again standing at his oven, kneading dough, and giving people bread made with love.

The amount needed for the rehabilitation course is impossible for one family – but entirely possible for us together.

Let’s not leave Roman without help. It’s up to us whether he will walk again or lose that chance forever.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO GOD!
YOU HELPED – THANK YOU!

This is the miracle ordinary people worked together.

“I want to bake bread for people again…” – a story that breaks the heart.

Look at Roman now: not long ago, he could not even move in bed, and today he is already standing on his own feet.

He is taking his very first steps again. Isn’t this a true miracle?

And this miracle happened because of people like you — kind and compassionate people.

This is 60-year-old Roman Lomidze. He spent half his life beside the tone oven. For him, it was never just a job.

The bread he baked for us carried the warmth and aroma of love itself.

But after one tragic morning, the baker became completely paralyzed. And the news spread through the city like wildfire: “Our baker Roman is dying… The doctors have given no hope.”

Roman, 60 : “I had surrendered myself to the thought that soon I would ‘move’ to the cemetery Or perhaps something even worse would happen: I would survive, but my life would never again bring people joy through the bread I baked. I even began dreaming about death. What use was I if I could not even move?  People loved me because I put my whole soul into baking bread.
Fund journalist: “But a third possibility happened — one you never even imagined, Mr. Roman.”

Roman, 60: “Yes, my dear. I admit it — I could never have imagined that the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund would create such a miracle. In a very short time, the amount needed to save my life was raised. And my family’s only income was a small social allowance. That money barely covered basic hygiene products from month to month.”

Friends, you not only saved the life of this kind and noble man – you gave him the chance to walk again and return to the work he loves most.
Roman, 60: “There is one thought that gives me no peace, and I want to say it aloud, even if perhaps the friends of the Fund may feel hurt by my words.”
Fund journalist: “Please speak, Mr. Roman. The friends of the Fund are generous-hearted people. I do not think they will be offended.”

Roman, 60: “Until now, I believed people had become cold, that their hearts had hardened, and that they no longer loved or supported one another the way they once did. And now I feel ashamed… Perhaps the Lord sent me this trial so I could see with my own eyes how much kindness and love still live inside human hearts.”

Roman, 60: “I am so endlessly grateful to the Fund and its friends that words alone cannot fully express my gratitude. That is why I want to put these feelings onto paper as well.”

Friends, for this dramatic story of everyone’s beloved baker to have a truly happy ending, Roman urgently needs physiotherapy. His pension cannot possibly cover it. What can this kind and noble man do alone? He is one person – but we are many. And there is strength in unity.

Roman, 60: “I feel ashamed asking again… it feels as though the ground disappears beneath my feet from embarrassment. But my desire to stand again and return to the work I love gives me the courage to ask for your help one more time, kind people. To fully recover and stand beside the oven again, I need physiotherapy.”

From the Fund journalist: “As I was leaving Roman’s home, he followed me with a sad look and sighed heavily: ‘Ah, my dear… if only I could offer you hot bread baked with my own hands right now…

Who knows… perhaps I will die without ever again baking bread in the tone oven – the work into which I poured all my soul and heart.’

When I, the foundation’s journalist, heard those words, my heart tightened with pain. But I did not dare to speak words of hope… Yes… I did not dare. Because I did not yet know what your verdict would be.”

NOW, FRIENDS, WE EVEN HAVE OUR OWN BAKER! AND HE’S SO GRATEFUL FOR ALL YOUR HELP THAT HE WANTS TO BAKE THE MOST DELICIOUS BREAD FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
YOU HELPED, THANK YOU!
For 30 years, Roman baked bread and fed people. There were always lines for his fragrant Georgian shoti bread – he kneaded it with his love for people, his joy for life, and his optimism.
Then, one day, the baker couldn’t get out of bed. He couldn’t even move his hands or legs. Doctors diagnosed him with spinal myelitis – inflammation and infection of the spine. The shock of suddenly becoming paralyzed and bedridden drove him to despair. He even thought of ending it all… to stop the suffering once and for all.
But love sent out into the world never disappears! You saved Roman – a strong, kind, and wonderful man.
You paid for his expensive, professional treatment at the Ken Walker Rehabilitation Center. For a month, he worked with a psychologist, an occupational therapist, and a gym instructor.
Now, Roman smiles again and jokes a lot: “I’m like a wounded eagle who has regained his strength! My back used to hurt so much I couldn’t sit in a wheelchair for five minutes. Now I can sit for an hour and a half – even two. I can get up from the wheelchair by leaning on my hands. My knees bend, I feel strength in my arms and legs. It’s nothing like the man who arrived here a month ago. I couldn’t even open a bottle of water – now I can. What else can I do? Maybe drink two liters of wine!”
Our dear baker no longer knows what depression is. He has only one wish – to continue his treatment, to stand on his feet again, and to walk!
Roman dreams of walking to church on his own two feet and lighting candles for all the kind friends of the Fund. He blesses you every morning when, even with great effort, he manages to get out of bed. God, how he misses his tone – his clay oven – and how much he longs to once again bake you that hot, fragrant shoti bread, as warm and generous as his own soul!
And this is possible – really possible – if we help him. He still needs blood transfusions, MRIs, medicines, and lab tests. Spinal cord injuries can’t be healed in a day – long-term rehabilitation is essential.

Roman asked a nurse to bring him a piece of paper so he could write you a letter of gratitude.
He’s more than earned this support through a lifetime of kindness and hard work. Now it’s our turn to show him the same care.
A LETTER OF GRATITUDE FROM ROMAN LOMIDZE
I am deeply grateful to the Chernovetskyi Fund. If not for this Fund, my condition would never have improved the way it has. My heartfelt thanks to all friends of the Fund! I wish you peace, health, and well-being – both physical and financial – for you and your families.
