An 82-year-old, nearly blind man – who could barely walk – “killed” a beautiful 16-year-old girl, Anano, when he hit her at high speed  He will live on… but she will die if we don’t help her. A tragedy that shook Georgia to its core.

It’s unbelievable, but the two photos you see are of the same girl. Anano once lived life to the fullest. She was seen as having a promising future in the arts. Today, she lies motionless within the white walls of a clinic. She opens her eyes but sometimes doesn’t recognize even her own mother. You heard it right – there are moments when she doesn’t recognize the person she loves most. God, how much tragedy is contained in just that one sentence.

A life changed in an instant. A future she was robbed of.

An elderly man in his eighties suddenly decided he was still a “young rider,” even though he could hardly see. A man with such poor vision that he struggled to walk without a cane still got behind the wheel.

Anano was simply walking home after dance rehearsal.
She never made it home…

A single cursed moment. A brutal impact. Blood… then everything went dark. Dark without end.

No sign of life.

A mother’s desperate scream rising to the heavens.

Resuscitation… silent doctors… and finally, the most terrifying words: “She has no chance of surviving.”

But by God’s will and thanks to the skill of Georgian doctors, Anano’s heart did not stop.

A Georgian neurosurgeon—a true hero—performed a miracle and literally brought a half-dead child back to life.

After a complex brain surgery, it was as if Anano had been born again.

Because of massive brain swelling, the doctors had to remove pieces of bone from both sides of her skull.

No mother in the world should ever have to see her child in such a condition.

Recently, Anano underwent a second, extremely difficult operation. The surgeon replaced the removed bone fragments and closed her skull. The life of our beautiful Anano was saved by God and by Georgia’s heroic doctors. But the impact caused such severe brain damage that the young dancer may never be able to walk again – let alone dance.

God… for Anano, this would be worse than any hell.

Imagine for a moment: Your entire life, dreams, future, happiness are built around dance… and at 16 you become paralyzed simply because a nearly blind elderly man decided to drive a car – and even worse, to drive passengers for money.

That one careless act destroyed a girl’s future forever.

Today the child is still in a Tbilisi clinic. Doctors watch over her around the clock, monitoring her heartbeat every minute, every second.

Just a month ago, Anano turned 16. Who knows – maybe that was the last birthday she ever spent standing on her own feet.

Zoya (Anano’s mother): “When my acquaintance called me, she lied to soften the blow – she said the car only brushed my daughter with its mirror, but told me to come quickly. My heart instantly knew that death was trying to take my girl. The only thing I could say was: ‘Let me see my child, even for a second.’
There was only silence in response… At that moment I thought I had already become a mother who lost her child. Then I fainted and remember nothing more.”

No one would wish such a fate even on an enemy.

These icons, this cross, and the oil from the Holy Sepulchre were sent to Anano and her poor mother by complete strangers.
Unfortunately, Anano still cannot hold her head up on her own. Her brain damage was so severe that the doctors cannot promise she will ever be the same girl she was before that terrible tragedy. But God teaches us that a believer must never lose hope.

Recently, the clinic delivered a piece of good news:
Anano is slowly regaining sensitivity and consciousness.

Do you know what this means? It means she urgently needs to be transferred abroad, because clinics in Georgia do not yet have the equipment required for her treatment at this stage.

There is no time to waste – every hour, every minute can be crucial for our Anano.

This is the moment when all of Georgia must unite for her. She is a child to each and every one of us.

Her dress must flutter on stage again. She must hear thunderous applause again.

At the end of her performance, she must once more receive flowers from the audience. We cannot allow Georgia’s rising star to remain in a wheelchair for life. Delayed rehabilitation will not achieve the needed results.

A foreign clinic is already waiting for her. But what can her poor mother do when even transporting Anano to the hospital abroad costs 22,000 lari? The Ministry of Health’s funding limit has already been exhausted.

Friends of the Fund! Should we abandon Anano? Should we condemn this angel to a lifetime of disability?
