What a tragedy, dear friends. A single spark turned the Broladze family into people without a home. In just a few minutes, fire destroyed everything they had. The flames spared nothing – not the walls, not the appliances, not the clothes. Three children were left without a roof over their heads.  Let us come together as a nation and help this family rebuild their home.

Natalie and Ioane hold tightly to one another. For these children, nothing remains in the world except the charred walls of what used to be their home.

Natalie, 5 years old: – “I cry every time I look at our burned house. I want to go home.”

Ioane, 9 years old: – “We have nothing at all now. Our room, our beds, books, notebooks, clothes, and favorite toys – everything burned.” 

The only miracle in this terrible tragedy is that no one was at home when the fire broke out. This is the sole consolation amid such devastation. 

Natia, 38 (mother): – “It is hard to find words for what we are feeling now. The pain is so deep that I cannot even cry. You cannot imagine how precious every single thing in that house was to us, every little detail. That house was our entire life.”

Look at what remains of the washing machine. Natia now has to wash clothes by hand outside, under a tap, in the freezing cold. 

A refrigerator and a television, recently purchased on credit, melted in the fire. 

Ioane, 9 years old: – “The clothes you see us wearing were given to us by kind people.”

At the moment, the family has nowhere to live. They have found temporary shelter with neighbors. Now they must start everything from scratch: walls, a roof, beds, a table – the most basic conditions for living and for the children to study. Their most urgent needs are building materials, furniture, household appliances, and warm clothing. 

Natia, 38 (mother): – “Our only hope is in kind-hearted people. If people help us rebuild our home, we will be grateful for the rest of our lives.  I worry about my children’s future.  They are homeless now. I hope that with your help we can build three small rooms – just so we have a place to sleep.”

The father is doing everything he can, working without rest, but coping with such a disaster alone is impossible. Mindia is seriously ill – one of his lungs has been amputated. The family survives on his disability pension and a small social allowance. This income is simply not enough to build a new home. One person cannot manage this alone. But if we come together, we can make the impossible possible.

What kind hearts these children have. They share the little they have left with the burned, frightened cats, gently stroking them and whispering: “We will survive together.”
