Giga, 27-year-old: “I have a high fever, unbearable pain, insomnia. I’ve already lost 12 kilograms. But I’m holding on. I’m trying not to give up. I know how important a positive mindset is when you have cancer. I want to live. I have a loving family: my mother, my father, my wife. I got married only recently.  I dream of having children. I dream of becoming a father.”

Giga used to be strong, healthy, athletic.  He played rugby. He worked as a fire safety specialist. Now cancer has changed him beyond recognition – only half the man remains.
It all started with swelling in his neck. Giga was burning with fever, but doctors in Georgia said: “Nothing serious.” The fever didn’t go down. He could barely stand on his feet. He was taken to Turkey – there he received the diagnosis: Stage III Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Giga got married just six months ago. The young couple dreamed of the future, of children, and made plans. Happiness and smiles were replaced by a fight against cancer.

His wife is by his side, supporting him, but watching how the disease steals the strength of the man she loves. Their life had only just begun – and has already become a battle for Giga’s life.

Giga has already completed three courses of chemotherapy. One course costs $6,030. He still needs nine more. Urgently. Without pauses.

 If treatment is interrupted, the disease will progress.

Doctors are ready to fight for Giga’s life – but it costs an unimaginable amount. The family is in panic. They live modestly, in a village – they have never seen such money.

Giga: “The scariest thing is when there is no money. That’s when a person begins to prepare for death. But I believe people will help. I believe I will live.”

Now Giga lies at home, counting the days. Until the next chemotherapy. Until the next chance to survive.
He has two weeks to raise the money and continue treatment.

All his mother’s hope is in compassionate hearts – so that tragedy does not happen.
