Maya lost the ability to walk during her pregnancy. She gave birth to a wonderful son, Saba, but she herself stopped walking. It turned out that it was due to inflammation in her spinal cord. “For these four years, while my Saba was growing, I couldn’t even dress myself,” Maia says. “I couldn’t even straighten a sock on my foot. I couldn’t stand up or walk to the bathroom. I was just alive and breathing. What kind of life is that?” We will show you the results of the tests and treatments that Maia received thanks to the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund. Maia can walk with crutches, do exercises, and even do simple household chores. Maia has overcome her deep pessimism and believes that she will be able to take her son to kindergarten on her own! Thanks to the treatment, Maia has achieved real results. Thank you for helping her regain her spirit and believe in a positive outcome. However, there are still many problems where your help is needed. Maia has no means to feed or clothe her little son. There’s no furniture in the house except for the beds, and there are no comfortable living conditions. Please consider joining the project as a constant supporter!

“If someone had told me that I would end up looking like a homeless person, I wouldn’t have believed it…” – Maia gave her son life, but she lost her legs… Let’s not leave her in trouble!

PLEASE SHARE IMMEDIATELY, KIND PERSON! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO APPROACH A GOD-PLEASING DEED!

Death will be the easiest outcome for the severely ill Maya greatest suffering for her little son.

When Maya was pregnant with this little angel, she lost her legs. Doctors said that if she gives birth, she won’t survive. But Maya decided that if it was destined to happen, it was better for her to die than to kill her unborn child. She survived and gave birth to a beautiful boy – Saba. However, the decision to keep the child turned into a nightmare for her. For three years now, she has been suffering from unbearable pain, sometimes unable to stand on her feet. Only the tender word “mommy” brings her back to life.

Saba is the only reason to live. To suffer, to cry, but to live!

“If I had the possibility to buy all the medications prescribed by doctors, to undergo all the procedures they recommend, maybe I wouldn’t be so helpless, and I wouldn’t always have to rely on others,” says Maya, while tears choke her words.

– Maya, when did your pains start?

Maya: As my mom says, she never even took me to the polyclinic. I never had even a simple cold in my childhood, let alone anything serious. In school, everyone had the flu, sore throats – but I didn’t miss a single day. But now, I’ve been sick for all these “healthy” years of my life. During pregnancy, my legs started to hurt. I couldn’t walk, they felt numb. These attacks started happening more frequently, and eventually, I couldn’t stand on my feet. Doctors said that giving birth was very dangerous for me, that I might not even survive. But I couldn’t bring myself to end the life of my child just for the sake of my own. In this most difficult period for me, my husband left me… don’t ask why – I don’t know. Maybe he didn’t want to live with a sick woman. And I was left alone with a little child. If it weren’t for my mom, we wouldn’t have survived long ago. She practically raised my son and took care of me.

“If someone had told me that I would end up looking like a homeless person, I would have never believed it”

– May God bless her with health!

Maya: She’s an angel not only for me but also for my brother, his son, and for her niece – 30-year-old Mariam. Mariam is an orphan. Besides us, she has no relatives, and my mom took her in. Mariam is not healthy either; she has intellectual disabilities and underdeveloped limbs.

“Watching after the kids requires constant attention, and here I am with my own health issues. I don’t know how my mother endures all of this”

– Maya, how do you manage to sustain yourself?

Maya: My mother brings food from the canteen. The government decided to suspend our income support. I don’t know why we were punished like this. I couldn’t find out the reason. Maybe you could help? I can’t go out to sort it out, and my mother can’t stand for hours and beg for assistance as if it’s charity.

Being sick in Georgia is like a punishment! Medicines are very expensive, and visiting a doctor is even more costly. To go to the hospital by taxi, you need to be a millionaire. I won’t be able to get on the bus with my crutches. Who would even let me on there? I have a catheter in me.

“I need to change the urinary catheter every two weeks. I don’t have money for it, I haven’t changed it for two months already. I’m afraid it might deteriorate”

– How much is your pension?

Maya: I don’t receive one. I guess I’m not sick enough. I can’t pass the evaluation commission due to confusion with the polyclinics. I don’t have the money, nor the strength. Everyone yells at me everywhere, and I can’t think as quickly as I used to. I don’t want to curse anyone, but if someone, God forbid, experienced the same pain as me, would they remain sane? Yet, they yell at me if I don’t understand something. Both the doctors and the “social workers.”

– Tell us, Maya, what do you need today to feel a little better?

Maya: I urgently need medical examinations. I also need funds for treatment and medication. We need groceries and many other things. But first and foremost, I need an MRI to understand how to proceed with treatment. Perhaps you can help me resolve the issues with the pension and the allowance? If we receive these funds, I won’t have to worry about my child going hungry!

“Maya needs so little to become herself again. Maybe she won’t be able to jump and run, but walking and living like a human being – that’s within reach”

-What would you say to all those people who can help?

Maya: I wish everyone not to fall ill, but to be attentive to those who are suffering. When I was healthy, I also didn’t understand what it’s like to endure pain. When it doesn’t subside, a person becomes so vulnerable that even one harsh word can bring tears to their eyes. When they tell me, “Get up, deal with it, you’re not the only one in such a condition,” I start crying. It’s not like I chose this fate?! Am I to blame for falling sick and being unable to do anything?

Only little Saba is holding on to his mother, not letting her go to death. But he won’t be able to hold her for long, as he is still so young!

Maya is like an envoy from God, reminding us to care for her. Perhaps the actions and kindness we show her will be our salvation? By saving her body, we also save our own souls in the process!

Each of us can make a contribution and help those in need of support and care. By doing good to others, we also do good to ourselves, get closer to God, and make this world a better place for everyone. Maya needs material assistance for her treatment, as well as much-needed medications, groceries, and diapers.

Always remember that by doing good, we not only save someone else’s souls but also our own. Let’s together make this world kinder, and Maya’s story will become another example of how our care and support can change this world for the better.

I said goodbye to life, but you gave me crutches and taught me to walk again!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

“For several years, I didn’t care about anything except my son. The illness broke me mentally. Little by little, you brought back my will to live.”

What kind of life is that?”

We will show you the results of the tests and treatments that Maia received thanks to the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund. Maia can walk with crutches, do exercises, and even do simple household chores. Maia has overcome her deep pessimism and believes that she will be able to take her son to kindergarten on her own!

Maia: “I want to do everything myself! Life is interesting again! It’s so wonderful, so sweet to walk!”

Saba: “My mom will practice more and take me to the playground! And she’ll take me to kindergarten too!”

– Maia, I came to you early this morning to see how your day starts.

Maia: I can’t wait for sunrise to start doing the exercises my neurologist gave me to do at home. I want to do everything myself: get out of bed, get dressed, tidy up the room a bit, and make food for my son. I can stay on my feet for 15–20 minutes, then I need a break. With one hand leaning on my walker, I can sweep the room like this (she demonstrates), fry eggs for my son, cut bread, wipe the table, or wash the dishes. It’s night and day compared to how I was last year and the year before! Back then, I couldn’t do anything, and I had no desire to try. I was in despair, feeling completely down. I didn’t care about any holidays. New Year’s, Easter – everything just passed me by…

Maia: “I can cut bread and not be afraid that my legs will give out and I’ll collapse.”

“Now, I can confidently peel an onion too.”

“I sweep while leaning on my walker with one hand.”

And now, I have a goal – to do all the exercises possible so I can learn to walk normally. Especially since it’s already starting to work. I’ve rediscovered the forgotten joy of life, it feels like I’ve been reborn.

The doctor gave me homework: squats, walking over imaginary obstacles, and more. Maya is doing great!

Saba (4 years old): My mommy is training so we can go to the playground. There are children there every day. I can hear how they play, how much fun they’re having. I want to go too. Mom, will you take me today? Have you finished your exercises?

Maia (kissing her son): Do you see what a strong motivation I have?! My little boy is waiting, asking, hoping so much. If the Chernovetskyi Fund hadn’t paid for my medicine, which cost 1500 lari, hadn’t arranged for the MRI of my head and spine, the Doppler scan of my leg (a type of ultrasound – Ed.), various tests, and hadn’t coordinated with the neurologist, there wouldn’t have been any progress! Maybe my condition would have even worsened.

The Fund arranged everything, and the Ministry of Health paid for my rehabilitation. But I didn’t even have money for the trip to the clinic; the Chernovetskyi Fund takes care of my transportation, and I use a taxi. The crutches I have were also provided by the Fund. Your friends have been helping me for such a long time!

Now Maia can go up the stairs on her own!

For now, it’s just practice, an exercise – one flight of stairs. But we will teach Maia to walk like before, won’t we? We will do everything for that, right?!

Saba: This big box was also a gift to us. But what’s inside? What is it? What should we do with it?

Maia: Sabuna, this is a gas stove. Mom and grandma will bake something for you in it – maybe cake or khachapuri, depending on what ingredients we have at home.

Saba: Then open it quickly, I want khachapuri! I’ll open it myself right now! (He moves the cardboard aside.) I didn’t find any khachapuri inside. Where is it?

Saba: “I found some kind of book here. But where’s the khachapuri?”

Maia: Sabuna, we’ll cook it for you, just wait a little (smiling). The old two-burner stove was awful to think about – it leaked gas, the flame kept going out… Thank you to the friends of the Fund for this generous gift – it came at the right time. My mom especially struggled since she’s the one who cooks. We were also very happy about the new fridge – now we can use food more efficiently, and it doesn’t spoil.

Maia: “The first appliances for my empty home came from you. Now, along with the washing machine you gave us earlier, we also have a gas stove and fridge. Thank you so much!”

– You still need a lot of things. What should we take care of next?

Maia: If I could work, I would buy everything myself and wouldn’t bother people. But my condition doesn’t allow me to, and I’m glad to accept help. We don’t have any furniture, and I dream of having a large wardrobe and some chairs. I’d ask for an armchair or a sofa—it doesn’t have to be new, I’m not picky, but something comfortable to sit on. It’s hard to sit for long on a chair, especially with a catheter…Some food assistance would also be really helpful. I worry about Saba because we don’t feed him enough.

– Maia, is there a chance you can stop using the catheter in the future?

Maia: That day might come. You see how much progress I’ve made. But it is up to doctor to decide when to quit it. For that, I need consultations, tests, medication, injections – all of which I can’t afford on my own. If you send me there again, I’ll gladly follow the instructions and do everything.

I feel like the happiest person right now! I used to be indifferent to everything when I got sick. I didn’t even hope that I’d be able to walk. The first time I went to the doctor by taxi, I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t see the streets I used to walk down. It was unbearably painful – I wouldn’t wish it on anyone! But little by little, hope started returning to me.

It’s the friends of the Fund who brought me back to life – they supported me in everything! They were there when none of my old friends were, when my husband left… I became more at peace knowing that I can walk, even if it’s with crutches. I feel happiness every day, every minute…It’s so wonderful, so sweet to walk! Thank you for giving me this chance! From the bottom of my grateful heart, I wish joy, luck, and happiness to the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund!

Thanks to the treatment, Maia has achieved real results. Thank you for helping her regain her spirit and believe in a positive outcome.
