“What would you do if your children were starving? What lengths would you go to just to offer them a morsel of bread? Beg? Perhaps even steal?”

calendar October 9, 2023

You know what happens to a person when they don’t eat for a day? Or two days? Or three? What if that person is a 10-year-old girl? And her 9-year-old sister? And there are five of them in the family! We’ll tell you right now. We always tell you everything.

Mari (10 years old): On the first day, it was still okay. It was just hard to fall asleep. The smell of bread kept haunting me all the time. On the second day, my stomach and head started hurting. I can’t remember which one hurt more. In the evening, I even felt like crying. But I held back my tears so that I wouldn’t show them to Mom. I’m the oldest, after all! If I had cried, everyone else would have cried too. On the third day, everything sounded muffled in my ears, and there were gray spots in my vision.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“Little Elena suffers  from hunger the most”

Nini (9-year-old): Hunger is awful. There’s this “booooo” sound in your ears, everything around you gets dark, and you feel like sleeping, but not like at night, it’s different.  It’s like falling asleep and never waking up. Even if a prince kisses you.

Mari: Well, if he feeds us first and then kisses us, maybe we’ll wake up!

“For them, hunger isn’t an abstract feeling; it’s a real struggle for survival, a daily reality”

Imagine that you can’t afford to buy food for your child. He is crying, feeling sick, and his face reflects fear and despair. What would you do in such a situation? Would you go criminal? Would you risk stealing? Or perhaps, simply ask for help from every passerby? Now, put yourself not just in the shoes of a reader but in the shoes of a mother who finds herself in this horrifying situation, with hungry and suffering children.

Hunger is more than just a sensation; it’s physical and emotional pain that engulfs every cell of the body and soul.  Let’s talk about the life of Alla, a single mother of five children who chose not to have an abortion, leaving her alone and now facing incredible difficulties in her attempts to feed her family.

– How did you find yourself in such a dire situation?

Alla: It all started when I became pregnant with our fifth child, and my husband was strongly against the idea of having another baby. It was already tough for us to keep our four children, and suddenly, the fifth one was on the way! He gave me an ultimatum: either I get rid of the baby, or he leaves the family. I chose to keep the child – I couldn’t bring myself to end a life. Mothers would understand me.

“Her mother was supposed to abort her to save her marriage!  But Alla chose Elena”

Mari: I remember how Dad shouted at Mom. He said bad words. I cried a lot. Maybe he didn’t want me to be “born” either?

Nini: It’s good that nobody scolds Mom or us anymore.

– Have you always lived in such need? Or did your husband support you?

Alla: We never had our own home. My husband worked, and I lived with the children in a shelter for homeless women. We would meet him in town sometimes.  They wouldn’t let him in there. That’s how we lived. Now we’re in an acquaintance’s apartment. You can hardly find such kind people!  A real godsend! I always tell my kids they should be like him! Even though we have relatives, they don’t help us – they only criticize!

“I remember how Dad used to shout at Mom. He said bad words”

– And your parents, do they not help you either?

Alla: My mother died when I was 18 years old. My father drank himself to death out of grief, and he died two years later. There were six sisters and a brother in our family. It’s as if they don’t even know me. They all live their own lives. They haven’t even seen my children.

“Andria and Elene suffer from hunger the most.  Andria faints, and Elena cries incessantly”

– How did you meet your husband?

Alla: My brother introduced me to him at our father’s funeral and said that everything was settled, and I had to marry him. I didn’t want to. I wanted to continue my education, but I couldn’t go against my brother’s will. But now when I look at these little angels, I don’t regret it at all. But when they are exhausted from hunger, look at me, and cry – I am ready to die myself We can’t learn to endure this feeling and not give in to it.  And the allowance doesn’t cover our needs!

– What about the allowance for large families and a free canteen?

Alla: We haven’t registered at our new address in Poti yet. We moved here recently. Before that, we lived in a shelter. And these ‘paper’ matters take a long time.  I know it’s necessary, but those who came up with these laws probably never saw their hungry children begging God for even a small piece of something.

“I don’t want to lose consciousness from hunger”

Nini: Mom’s allowance has run out.  It runs out very quickly. I’m so afraid of going hungry for another 3 days – not for myself, but for Elene and Andria. Do you know how bad it was for them? We at least went to school, and there, the other kids shared their food with us. But Andria ‘got lost.’ Mom slapped his cheeks to make him come back to us. He couldn’t hear anything at all!

Nini: Yes, some kids share their bread. And some just mock us so cruelly.

“We should kneel down and earnestly ask God to send us something to eat”

Anna (6 years old): They sometimes tease me because I carry my books in plastic instead of a bag, and they say my jacket is way too big. They joke that you could fit two hundred Anns in there.

Mari: They told me I look scruffy because of my shoes.  They’re all full of holes. And I also have old pencils… they say a rat nibbled on them or that I ate them when I was hungry… they can be mean. But not everyone.

“The children don’t have school bags. They laugh at me because I carry my books in a plastic bag”

Nini: Hunger hurts in the stomach, but it goes away when you eat. But words like that hurt in the heart, and they never go away.

Alla: My children have fainted from hunger.  At school, they make fun of them because of their tattered clothes. But my children are good kids. God will protect them. He won’t let anyone harm them!

Here, on this semi-collapsed bed, five children and their mother sleep

– Alla, how can we help you and your family?

Alla: We need food and clothing for the children. Any assistance would also be highly valuable to us. All six of us sleep in one bed, and we don’t have a television.

Anna: It’s not a bed, it’s a wreck. I dream it finally falls apart completely. It will be more comfortable and fun to sleep on the floor, I think.

Mari: What are you saying?  Do you know how much your back will hurt afterward? And mice might bite us.

“We must urgently save the children from hunger!!!”

When the high and mighty celebrate the birthdays of their children, wives, and sisters… and indulge them with expensive gifts, Alla’s family is struggling with hunger. Recently, they went without food for three days. If it weren’t for kind neighbors, their fate could have been different – newspaper headlines could have told the tragic story of a single mother and her five children who perished from hunger. This is shameful!

We urge every reader to reflect on their ability to help those in need. As they say, “Gratitude is not only the highest virtue but also the response of a grateful heart.” By helping Alla and her children, we make the world a bit kinder and brighter.  We secure the future of our children so that they can live in a society where hunger and destitution are not the norm.

If you are willing to visit this family and help them in person, here is their address: Poti, 7 Apkhazeti Str, Apartment 34

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!

We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.

Please don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

The proud owner of five bags!

Anuki was often bullied at school because she didn’t have a backpack and carried her notebooks and books in plastic bags. But now she has five (!) school bags for each day of the week, and she has shown up all her tormentors. Before the project, the large Prokhorov family – five children and their mother – slept cramped together on a single bed.

Finally, the family members started to get enough sleep, as they now have two bunk beds!

And the most important thing – the days of multi-day hunger have ended!  You brought groceries from different cities in Georgia so that the children could regain their strength after prolonged exhaustion, so they could eat their fill!

The class chat was unavailable for Nini, as well as TikTok, messenger, movies, games, quick photos! Now the blue-eyed beauty will catch up with everything and everyone!

– Alla, how many times a day do you feed the children now? That’s what worries us the most.

Alla: Three times, and it will be like this for several more months. We have many kind helpers and saviors who have provided us with a decent supply of food. People shared with us everything they had!

Giorgi Kiladze from Batumi treats us like family, looks after us. He’s a very generous and kind-hearted person! We know his family and friends; they all came here together. He brought sacks of flour, potatoes, and gave us a bread maker. Now I bake bread myself. They brought so many sweets that the children ate them for two months. And he dressed the children. He passed on clothes from his clothing store to us.

Sofiko, the parent from my eldest daughter Mari’s class, was one of the first to come, my golden one. She also brought groceries. Nini, our neighbor from Poti, also gave flour, potatoes… I have grains, sugar, sunflower oil, and semi-finished products… The younger ones have plenty of porridge; the Fund gave us.   Both I and the children have perked up. God forbid we ever reach the extreme again, what we went through, it was horrible!

Nini (9 years old): Without food, I feel bad and sad, but with food, I feel happy!

Mari (10-year-old): Without clothes and without a bed, my mood isn’t great either. I used to always be grumpy, angry, and crying. And I had insomnia.

– Insomnia at such a young age?!

Mari: Have you ever tried sleeping with five people in one bed, auntie? Do you know how difficult it is? Anuki always used to wake me up, she was the most restless sleeper. That’s it, bye-bye Anuki! It’s good that you brought the beds. I was so tired! Now I sleep all by myself, I’ll go to bed at nine and wake up for school at eight. And on Sundays, I sleep until 11:00. And it’s warm and soft for me.

The main pusher is out of business!

There’s been a great resettlement in the house, everyone now has their own bed.

Also, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers – very necessary things. Before, my and everyone’s things were lying in cardboard boxes on the floor. Mom got them at the store for free. Firstly, all the clothes got tangled up in them. Secondly, it didn’t look nice at all. Now it looks nice, right? And everyone takes care of their shelves.

In such a beautiful wardrobe, you don’t just throw clothes around, you want to fold everything neatly.

Nini: Our Anuki is rich in bags, she could open a bag store!

Anuki now has a bunch of backpacks, enough to open a bag store! Look how cute the backpack with rhinestones looks on her!

 – Oh, how did that happen? I want to know!

Nini: Children from the 12th Public School in Poti came to us, 10 of them, and they gave us bags as gifts. And we recorded a video together.

Mari: They’re not children, they’re already in the 10th grade.

Nini: Then other uncles and aunties also gave bags as gifts.

– Anuki, what do those kids who used to bully you because of the plastic bag say now?

Anuki (6-year-old): They say: “What a beautiful and stylish bag!”

– Do you think we should listen to people?

Anuki: No need to. I was good before, even when I carried plastic bags.  And no one can bully me.

Mari: Now I only go to school in new and beautiful clothes. And the kids who used to bully me don’t laugh anymore.   They play and make friends with me.

Mari takes short videos on her tablet and gets lots of likes.

Alla: Oh, your readers have been kind and good from the very beginning. They even liked us, poor as we are. That’s what’s important and touches the heart, that’s what I explain to my daughters. They worried, took care of our fate, that’s the gold in human relationships. Everywhere I look in the house, I see traces of this love and kindness.

Here are the new curtains, brought by people. Warm blankets. New dishes. Before, I cooked everything in one pot… A bed for Andria. We spent the winter in warmth. Thanks to the readers of the Fund for this timely gift of a gas heater! Andria brought a virus from kindergarten; how would I treat him with bronchitis in a cold house?!   Every time we go to our church with the children, I light a candle for your health, and the girls do too. Blessings to you and your loved ones, joy to your hearts!

New curtains – a gift from the readers.

Alla: “We’ve made it through the winter safely. While it’s still chilly, I’ll keep turning on the heater, so the kids don’t freeze.”

Elenka’s quickest comforter is the new plasma TV. A colorful cartoon stops the tears in two minutes.

You have helped me sort out many issues, including reaching out to our authorities. You know how to write them letters, that’s for sure. As a result, the social service provided us with a one-time voucher for groceries worth 300 lari.

– But that’s not enough.

Alla: The municipality promises to replace the windows, doors, and wallpaper in this house in March. And you know what else? We’ve been added to the list of homeless people, and we’re in line for housing. The municipality said they would give us an apartment in Batumi at the end of August or in September 2024.

– We’ll find out everything in six months. We just want all promises to be fulfilled. Alla, how else can we help you?

Alla: Andria’s bronchitis has become chronic, and I can see that I can’t treat it with home remedies.  We need a doctor’s examination and medications.  I ask for your help with this, my dear ones.

There is so much light and warmth in these little hearts right now! Without you, they would be lost in the dark abyss of poverty! To prevent that from happening, let’s all watch over the Prokhorov family together and help them with food, medicine, clothing… Many of you have a genuine gift for caring and compassion. This gift can bring happiness to these amazing kids.

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.

Our problems are nothing if compared… Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.

Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now… Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, and talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!
