Hungry 4-year-old Tornike shared the only piece of bread in the house with the dog – this is the heartbreaking scene our Fund’s reporter witnessed during a visit to the Gurashvili family. Yes, a hungry little angel with sea-colored eyes didn’t hesitate to give his only food to the dog. Some people have so much food that it spoils before they can eat it, yet they won’t give any to someone who’s starving. We at the Fund are fortunate – because you, our dear friends, are always willing to share your bread with hungry children. We are proud of you! Today, we want to tell you about three little Gurashvili brothers, forgotten by the world. Their story will bring tears to your eyes.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!

A hungry child found a piece of stale bread at home…

Four-year-old Tornike is crying bitterly. He covers his tear-streaked face with his hands so the Fund’s reporter (a stranger to him) won’t see his tears. Do you think he’s asking for candy or an expensive toy – and that’s why he’s crying? No, friends. This isn’t the cry of a spoiled child. This little angel is crying because he can no longer endure the hunger and the cold. The shoes he was given last year are now too small, and his feet hurt. No child in the world should have to suffer like this.

And this is Tornike’s brother, 9-year-old Luka. Do we really need words to describe this photo? Look into the kind eyes of this child – how much pain, despair, and hopelessness they hold. Oh… words are powerless… a forgotten child… a child whose pain no one understands…

And this is 7-year-old Lazare. The suffering brought on by a life of poverty is written all over his face. His big eyes should be full of joy, but how can they be – when he’s hungry, when he’s cold, when he wears rags and doesn’t have a single toy? Is this really what we call childhood? Is this really what we call life? No, this is not life. This is a struggle to survive. A fight for mere existence…

This is the Gurashvili family, a large family living in unbearable poverty in an old wooden shack. The windows are broken, the walls are cracked, and rain leaks through the ceiling.

And what’s worse – the family doesn’t even own this awful shack. A kind man, who currently lives abroad, allowed them to stay there temporarily. But soon, he will return to Georgia – and he has nowhere else to go except this shack. That means the Gurashvili family, along with their three young children, will have to leave. But where will they go? They have nowhere to go. Will these little angels be left with nothing but the sky over their heads?

This is the children’s father, 31-year-old Guram, known throughout Kakheti for his honesty and work ethic. From morning till night, he does hard physical labor in various villages and towns. At the end of the day, he brings home 30–40 lari earned with backbreaking work – to buy bread and a few groceries for his hungry children.

Even in the photo, you can see how deeply Guram worries about his children… how much pain he carries in his heart… When the Fund’s reporter visited the Gurashvili family, the 31-year-old man was wearing torn pants.

Guram, 31 (father of three children): “We need to vacate the house. My children will be left without a roof over their heads. If I rented a place that came with furniture and appliances, I’d have to pay a lot. But I can barely afford bread and pasta. My 28-year-old wife can’t work – she can’t leave the little ones alone. If we rent an empty house with no furniture, we don’t even have a chair or a table of our own. We have absolutely nothing.”

Guram: “When you publish the article (he says to the Fund’s reporter), some people might wonder why we, as adults, have nothing. Ehh… No one knows what life has in store. I don’t want to burden the readers with my story. I lived an honest life as a child and a young man, but life has left me and my poor children with nothing.”

While we were visiting the Gurashvili family, it started to rain. The children didn’t take shelter inside the house. Instead, they stood under a tree. Do you know why? Because it was raining just as much inside the house as it was outside.

This is the ceiling of the room where the children sleep. Where the rain falls, just like it does outside

Lazare’s “lunch” – a piece of stale bread

The children, though starving themselves, share their food with the dog every day

“Auntie (says one of the children, addressing the Fund’s reporter), so what if the dog can’t talk? She’s just as hungry as we are. Unlike us, she doesn’t even have a mom. That’s why we take care of her.”

These poor children care for a dog, but no one cares for the children themselves. Their parents told the Fund’s reporter that they’ve asked for help from local authorities many times, but…

These poor children are not lazy

They help their father – picking cucumbers, tomatoes, and greens in the garden

Four-year-old Tornike, who doesn’t have a single toy, looks up at the sky through a broken window. Who knows… maybe he’s asking God to send kind angels from heaven to take away his and his brothers’ suffering.

And those kind angels the children are dreaming of – that’s you, dear friends of the Fund. The Gurashvili family will soon have to move into a rented house that will be nothing but four bare walls. The family urgently needs furniture, appliances, and household items. The children don’t even have beds. Dear God… this is beyond terrible.

Look, he’s a real angel! Four-year-old Tornike looks up with pleading eyes, silently asking for help

His older brother gently strokes his head as Tornike cries from sorrow

Dear kind souls, we, the staff of the Fund, beg you – stand with us and help save these little angels from suffering. Food, clothes, shoes – let’s not hold back anything they might need.

This is how the children gathered around the Fund’s correspondent and shared their pain

And when the “strange lady” told the brothers that she would tell all of Georgia about them, a light suddenly sparked in their sad eyes.

Dear friends of the Fund, as I left the Gurashvili family, the sorrowful yet hopeful eyes of the three little angels who stood at the gate stayed with me the whole way from Kakheti to Tbilisi. These children have no one else to rely on but you. Please, let their faith in your kindness be rewarded. Let’s try – together – to heal the broken hearts of our little brothers.

If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Dedoplistskaro, Tamari Str.

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that the Lord has turned your heart toward someone else’s sorrow. That He is answering their prayers through you. That means you are chosen. May you always be blessed. And please—keep remembering those who suffer. Go visit them. That’s where you’ll discover your true worth – as a true Georgian, a great human being, just as the Lord created us to be.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

You made it happen – thank you!

A young Georgian couple – Zhuzhuna and Guram – brought three little angels into the world: First came Luka, with warm honey-brown eyes, then Lazare, with eyes like dark amber, and finally Tornike, with eyes as blue as the summer sky. But from birth, these beautiful children knew only hardship. They slept on damp, moldy mattresses that were falling apart. Dry, crusty bread was all they had – and even that scratched at their empty stomachs. They had never once worn new clothes.

You fed three little angels with love and care! You dressed them lovingly in beautiful clothes! You became the designers of their brand-new bedroom – where now stand three cozy beds and a dresser! Oh, how soft it will feel for their little hands and feet, and how peaceful and happy their sleep will be! The youngest angel, Tornike, smiles at you – for good luck. The middle angel, Lazare – for joy. The oldest angel, Luka – for health and good spirits!

The young parents – Zhuzha and Guram – bless you and thank you a thousand times over for making their children happy! They themselves were filled with pure childlike joy when they unwrapped their brand-new refrigerator and washing machine – things they had never owned before!

Zhuzhuna (Zhuzha): – I never thought I would ever have a fridge or a washing machine. We are very poor – this was a big dream of ours. We’re all overwhelmed with incredible happiness! I thank all the kind people! Dear God, it’s a miracle!

And now, we’d like to tell you what else is needed to improve the lives of these three little ones – because we always look ahead.

1. A gas stove – so that Mom can bake bread for the kids herself. It’s much cheaper for the Gurashvili family this way. Right now, Juzhuna has a gas bottle, which is a constant struggle.

2. A new kitchen cabinet. The Gurashvili family owns nothing in this borrowed home – not even the cracked cabinet covered with a curtain. They’ll likely have to move to an empty house soon.

3. A large wardrobe for clothes. Right now, all their things are stored in cardboard boxes on the floor.

4. A new table and chairs. Do you see it, friends? In our video, the children are eating while standing.

5. Food – the supplies shown in the video will only last about a week.

6. Clothing – the children are growing every day.

For all your kindness – may God protect and bless you!
