54-year old Nani Metreveli had
a very hard life: she used to be a teacher at school, but after the occupation
of Tskhinvali she had to become a refugee. The stress she had gone through
during the war destroyed her health. Her lower limbs got paralyzed, so she
cannot walk anymore; then some more diseases developed.

She lives with her husband and
two underage children in a dilapidated rented hut. The family is socially
unprotected. They are extremely poor; they have no simple living conditions and
are often starving. They are waiting for the winter to come in terror, as they
only have a wood stove, but there is no money for fire wood…
