Natia: There are a lot of us. My husband, our six children, and I can barely fit in this tiny house. And we have nowhere else to go. When they find out that we have so many children, everyone shrugs us off – as if they see cockroaches. If I lived in another country, they would probably give me a diploma for having 10 children! It’s not easy raising kids for Georgia. No one appreciates us, no one cares. They give us an allowance and they think that’s enough. We don’t even have our own house.

Why are these Georgian children so humiliated?!
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
– You must have married early. It is heroic to have ten children at the age of 40!
Natia: Yes, I was 19 years old when I met David. He worked in the mill, where I often took the grain to grind it. David is 16 years older than me, and when he asked me to marry him, I didn’t even think twice about it. Our oldest daughter, Nino, is 21 years old and is already a mother herself. Our second daughter is also married. Our oldest son Nodar is already 19. He thinks he is an adult, he earns money by hard physical labor and helps his younger sisters and brothers. That’s how we exist.
“Our special boy Giorgi died when he was 11 years old.”
– 6 little kids, 3 adults, and where is the tenth child?
Natia: I didn’t want to recall it… My Giorgi, my poor son – he drowned four years ago. I wasn’t at home, and when I came home, I didn’t find him. I felt something was wrong, my stomach was on fire. I ran outside and the neighbors told me they saw him walking to the river. God, God… I ran barefoot, and I don’t remember how I got to the place where my boy had just recently stood alive. A mother’s heart always feels when something wrong happens to her child. My neighbors tried to reassure me, but I already knew I would never see my son alive. In the evening they pulled his cold, blue, swollen body out of the water. My little angel… how much I miss him. He was the most special. I didn’t eat for three weeks after he died. I wanted to die. Even my 8 kids couldn’t bring me back to life.
– It’s a nightmare! How did you find the strength to go on living?
Natia: God gave me Tamara. She brought us all back to life. She became the straw that we all cling to. She is very mischievous and doesn’t let us get bored.
Andria (7 years old): Everything we can’t do, she can do!
Anna (5 years old): She can cry the loudest, too.
“After a tragedy, Tamara “forced” everyone to move on.”
– Tamara is just lovely. It’s impossible not to fall in love with her at first sight.
Andria (7-year-old): When Giorgi died, my mother cried a lot. She couldn’t walk at all. She said she wanted to be with Giorgi. We were as quiet as mice. We did not even say that we were hungry.
“We were very afraid that mom would never stop crying.”
Natia: That’s how we live. I don’t even talk about conditions. I have no furniture and not enough beds for everyone. We rent this house. It’s small for six children, but we can’t find anything else. When we say we have six children, they shun us like lepers. Look for yourself in what conditions we live. All our clothes lie on shelves and everywhere. We take turns eating. There are not enough chairs. We all sleep together on big beds.
“There is no room for things, and mountains of clothes lie right on the floor.”
“There aren’t enough chairs for everyone, and someone has to eat standing up.”
– Have you addressed anyone for help?
Natia: Yes, many times. We asked them to help us build at least a small house on our land so that we wouldn’t have to wander around with our children, so that we wouldn’t end up on the street if we suddenly couldn’t pay our rent. But their answer is always the same: No! What else to ask? Is there any point in addressing them again? They have not even seen how and where we live. The conditions in which six little kids live… that’s why I addressed you, I know you will at least give us a kind word of support.
– Have you thought about what would make your life easier?
Natia: So that we had normal living conditions and our lives were just a little bit more comfortable. So that I could bathe my children and feed them normally, not the slop they give us in the canteen. I can’t ask for appliances when my children are hungry and barefoot. You know.
“Our naked doll Maya hugs a teddy bear to keep warm.”
Nikoloz (9-year-old): When I start working, I’ll buy you everything. Do not cry mom. And I’ll buy myself a telephone.
– What do you want to be?
Nikoloz (9-year-old): I want to be a cook. A cook never goes hungry, and I’ll bring some food for my sisters.
“Pasta again– I don’t want to see it.”
– What would you buy for yourself, Barbare?
Barbara (11 years old): Oh, such a hard question… I don’t know. I would really like to have a normal house. I’d buy beds for everyone and clothes and shoes. Do you know how good it was when Giorgi was alive?
– Do you miss him?
Barbare (11-year-old): Yes, I miss him very much! I loved him more than anyone. When people asked me who I loved more, my mom or my dad, I didn’t even think twice about it, I said I loved Giorgi. Mom and Dad didn’t resent me because they loved him more than anyone else, too. He played with all of us and never offended us.
“We had the most wonderful brother. I miss him so much.”
Andria (7-year-old): Can I tell you what I want? I want… I don’t even know what I want. For everyone to have beds. Right now, we only have three beds. They are so uncomfortable, so creaky…
Anna (5-year-old): And I want us to have a delicious lunch every day. Some hot meals. Something tasty… not this pasta.
Lisa (4 years old): And I don’t like to eat! I want juice! And I want a cake and a beautiful doll!
“I wish I had lots of clothes so they wouldn’t tear and never get dirty.”
– Don’t you want toys? Or nice clothes?
Andria (7-year-old): Are you serious? Yes, we want!
Anna (5 years old): I probably want a doll. And slippers!
– Natia, what do you dream of?
Natia: I dream all children have beds. I can sleep on the floor. I dream that we have food and hygiene products. I dream that we have clothes and shoes. A closet for clothes, a heater, and a stove. And if we have a TV, we will be happy.
