Luka and Keti are watching their beloved father slip away before their very eyes! A once-strong man, still so young, is now gasping for air—his heart has doubled in size, crushing him from within. He can’t breathe, can’t move and is gasping for air. He was the sole provider for his family, and now, there is no family in Georgia poorer than his. Can you imagine the agony he endures? And worst of all, his children are watching helplessly, unable to do anything, remembering the days when he was still playing and laughing with them.

Luka (10 years old): “If my father dies, I won’t be able to live without him. If only I could split my heart in two and give him half, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second— I’d give him my whole heart. I can’t imagine life without my dad, but what can I do? Where do I find the money for his medicine? I’m only ten…”

And this is little Keti, who never leaves her father’s side, massaging his numb hands to keep his heart from stopping. She listens closely to his heartbeat as he sleeps. Sometimes, she fears it has stopped—and in that moment, her desperate cries pierce the heavens.

Niko, 38 years old—a father fighting for his life with his two angels by his side.

Niko has spent his whole life working tirelessly, using every cent to support his children and care for his ailing father, who is disabled. Then, one fateful day, his world collapsed. Step by step, his ability to move faded. Breathing became a struggle. His heart, after just two steps, felt as if it would explode from his chest. How many times have strangers had to bring him back from the brink of death?

Once full of energy, he can no longer even rise from the couch on his own.  His heart is twice the size it should be.
 You, dear reader, surely know what that means… A ticking time bomb inside his body. He can barely breathe. He’s suffocating. And his family—too poor to afford even an oxygen machine.

Nikoloz (38 years old): “I was a craftsman, but now I can’t do anything at all.  I need a heart transplant to survive—but that costs a fortune. I’m clinging to hope, kind-hearted people… maybe someone, somewhere, can help me at least with medications.”

Severe arrhythmia has turned his life into a living hell. Every four seconds, someone in the world dies from sudden cardiac failure. Most cases stem from complex heart rhythm disorders. Now you understand—this father’s life is hanging by a thread.

Little Luka has already witnessed his father collapse unconscious. Can you imagine the trauma for a child? He no longer sleeps peacefully at night, terrified that when he wakes up… Oh, no. We can’t even write those words.

Here is just a portion of the medicine Niko needs to stay alive. These will last only ten days—but what happens after that? Where to find money for life-saving medications? How does a man who can no longer work find the money to survive? He was once the sole breadwinner.  Now, not only is he unable to work, but he can’t even walk down two steps without collapsing.

Even animals sense human suffering. This stray dog, more compassionate than many people, howls in agony whenever Niko has an attack – its cries echoing through the village, as if calling for help.

Luka sits on the doorstep, tears in his eyes, watching the road. But there’s no sign of hope on the horizon.

Luka: “Yesterday, I overheard my parents talking.  Dad’s medicine will run out in ten days, and Mom has no money to buy more. She works at a bakery and earns just 10–15 lari a day. With that, she buys bread and special food for Dad. Auntie (speaking to the Fund’s representative), please, I beg you—tell the kind people to help us buy medicine and an oxygen machine for my father. I promise, when I grow up, I’ll work and help those in need too.”

In Niko’s eyes, you can see it – he’s exhausted. He’s fought for so long. And now, he’s on the verge of surrender.

We cannot let this happen. These little angels must not become orphans. More than anything, they need their father’s love, his embrace. But without your help, kind-hearted people, his heart will stop beating forever. What a cruel injustice—to tear a father away from his children so soon!
