These are the heartbreaking words Nonna hears from her son whenever the pain becomes so unbearable that she cries out.

For the past two years, 52-year-old Nonna Jishkariani has been completely bedridden. She cannot turn over by herself. She cannot stand. She cannot even make it to the door. Every single day of her life is pure torment.

Nonna:

“It feels as if my joints are being twisted by a knife. I am not living anymore… I am suffering terribly.” And as if that weren’t enough, while trying to help her only child, she awkwardly turned her wheelchair, fell, and broke her hip. There was no money for proper treatment, so the bone healed incorrectly.

Nonna is suffering from end-stage rheumatoid arthritis. Her joints are devastated, her arms and legs are severely deformed. After her fall from the wheelchair, her broken hip fused improperly.

Now she urgently needs a highly complex operation. Remember, friends, we have already been through this once in Georgia. A leading professor personally promised the founder of our Fund that he would perform the surgery just as well as any clinic abroad. We even purchased an expensive implant from Germany… but nothing changed. We cannot afford another devastating mistake. This surgery must be done in Turkey, where the quality of care is high and the cost is still within reach!

The hip implant alone costs 12,500 euros. 

Without this operation, Nonna may remain trapped in bed forever – and she may not have much time left, as her diabetes is now rapidly worsening.

Since the age of 13, her son has cared for his sick mother. What an extraordinary blessing it is to have such a son. Thank God!

Their home was lost because of medical expenses. Now Nonna lives in a tiny room in an old house where she was given shelter out of compassion. Her pension barely covers her medications. Food often comes only through the kindness of neighbors.

Nonna dreams of standing again. Of walking outside by herself. Of visiting her parents’ graves. And of seeing her son smile for the first time in years – not through tears.
